Chapter-12

My Dad didn't work with good people; he wasn't a good person either. My mum didn't like him, and neither did I. But, he had a wife, apart from my mum, I didn't know.

"The person representing you is here. Would you like to meet him?"

Did I even have an option?

"If I am proven guilty, what will happen to me?"

"You'll be sentenced to Confinement Zone I. You're not yet 20, thank God."

She laughed.

I didn't find it funny.

A man entered the room. He looked like a hamster, an evil hamster. I don't want to be represented by him.

"Sylvester, meet Attorney Mills. He's one of our finest lawyers."

She said smilingly.

The man smiled, one which gave me heebie-jeebies.

"Hi, Sylvester. I hope you are not worried. You're in my hands now; you've got nothing to worry about." The man laughed, trying to mellow down his complacency.

"What's my crime, if I may ask?"

"You escaped Rychville before you were 20. And that, my kid, is treason."

I didn't like him addressing me like that. I hope he's good at his job.

"What do I need to say in the trial?"

"You just have to sit and look your most innocent self ever."

The man laughed again.

"Why don't you go and have your lunch? Mr. Mills and you'll be departing at 3:45."

Isn't she going with us? What about Theo and Caleb? Is it just going to be us two? I wasn't hungry.

I looked at him. His grin made me want to puke.

"All the best, you two." She gave her mesmerizing smile.

I bowed because I felt like I should, and I left.
