Ghost ain’t Real
The brothers are seen laughing as they walk out of a movie theater as they walk down the street.
Mugman: “Zombies are not as scary as I thought they’d be.”
Cuphead: “I’m proud of ya. You only needed to change your pants three times.”
Mugman: “A new record!”
Cuphead: “Oh! It’s getting late. If we’re going to make it home before dark for Y/n’s gumbo, we better take a shortcut through the creepy cemetery Y/n told us not to go through.” He says as he points towards the creepy cemetery as a wolf howls in the distance.
Mugman: “Nothing scary about that. Not to a record-breaker like me.” He says bravely.
Cuphead: “Attaboy, Mugsy.” He nudges his brother by the arm before walking into the graveyard, Mugman notices as they walk past the gates is a screaming gargoyle sitting on one of the pillars.
Mugman: “Hmm…” he mutters as he continues to smile. “Sure is a lot of tombstones.” He says as he looks around.
Cuphead: “Uh-huh.” He says as he spots a creepy angel statue Mugman looks over at a hill where a tall old clock tower resided.
Cuphead: “Really starting to get dark now.”
Mugman: “Some might find that unsettling but not me.”
As they both looked around with their eyes quickly.
Cuphead: “Good thing we’re so brave.”
Mugman: “I can’t think of a time I’ve been less scared.”
The sunset turns into the night over the graveyard.
Cuphead: “Nothing scary about a graveyard.”
Mugman: “Just a yard.”
They quickly start walking a bit faster.
Cuphead: “For playing.”
Mugman: “We have a yard at home.”
They try to smile wide to hide their fear.
Cuphead: “We should vacation here.”
Mugman: “Live here!”
They quickly start moving faster.
Cuphead: “I never want to leave!” He shouts as a lighting cracks behind them causing the boys to scream in terror as they run into the graveyard.
They, unbeknownst to them, run past three ghosts who were playing cards.
Small ghost: “Well, I know what we’re doing tonight.” He says as he throws his cards into the pile.
Female ghost: “Things just got a lot more interesting.” She says as she tapped her fingers against them.
Big ghost: “Go fish!” He says before he is smacked in the head by the smaller ghost as they float toward where the screaming cups went.
The kids scream as they rush toward the gate that suddenly shuts in their faces causing Mugman to gasp.
Mugman: “Did you see that?! It slammed shut outta nowhere?!” He screamed at his brother in fear as he started to shake.
Cuphead: “Okay. Let’s get a grip on ourselves. That was probably the wind.” He says nervously.
Mugman: “Wind? What wind?! I didn’t feel any wind. No wind.” He says scared as he turns and tries to yank on the gate. “Oh, no, no, no! It won’t budge! We’re trapped?!” He says as thunder crackles behind them.
Cuphead: “Relax. It just needs a little elbow grease.” He said as he tried to yank on the gate to no avail “Hmm, stuck pretty good.” He comments.
Mugman: “What are we gonna do?!” He screams as he holds onto his brother's shoulders with wide eyes.
Cuphead: “First, we’re gonna calm down like what Y/n taught us.”
Mugman: “But what about g-g-ghosts?”
Cuphead: “Ah, banana oil! Ghosts ain’t real!” He says as three ghosts peer from the wall of the gate.
Small ghost: “You hear that? We ain’t real.” He chuckles.
Big ghost: “We ain’t?” He says surprised before getting hit in the head by the smaller ghost.
Female ghost: “Shh” she shushes as she points down towards the boys as the ghosts continue to listen in.
Cuphead: “Looks like we’re stuck. Eh. Someone will open it in the morning. Till then, we’ll spend the night and make the best of it.” He said as he shrugged his shoulders.
Mugman: “S-s-spend the night? But what about the ghosts?” He says fearfully as he runs after his brother “I don’t like this, Cuphead. I’m allergic to dead people.” He says as he looks over his shoulder as Cuphead makes him sit on a fallen-over log of wood.
Cuphead: “For the last time, Mugsy. Ghosts ain’t real! Now you clear a spot, and I’m gonna get some firewood.” He says as he begins to walk away causing his brother to look at him wide-eyed.
Mugman: “We’re separating?!”
Cuphead: “Well, do you wanna come with me into the deep, dark woods?” He says as he jesters to a foggy part of the wood where sinister music begins to play.
Mugman: “Is there a third, less terrifying option?” He shakily says.
Cuphead: *sighs* “Look, don’t worry. It’ll be just like the movie. You think you’re gonna be scared, but then it won’t be so bad. ‘Cause why?” He says as he places a hand on Mugmans shoulder.
Mugman: “‘Cause I’m a big, strong man?”
Cuphead: “Well, sure.” He says with squinted eyes “But also because ghosts ain’t real.” Before he starts to walk away into the scary woods.
Mugman: “They better not be. I’m all outta spare pants.” He mutters to himself.
Cuphead: “Just relax. I’ll be back before you know it.” He says as he disappears behind the fog.
Mugman Shackle looks around before an owl boots near the boy causing him to yelp in fright.
Cuphead: “That was an owl.” He yelled as a big brown owl sat on a sturdy branch as hooted at Mugman with its big yellow eyes staring at him.

Cuphead: “Typical Mugman. Always getting himself worked up over nothing.” He says as he picks up some logs the big ghost appears behind him with a stick in his hands, he snaps the stick and quickly disappears before Cuphead starts looking around him.
Cuphead: *Gasp* “What was that?!” As he holds the logs close to him as he fearfully looks behind him as the female ghost blows wind at him causing a chill up his spine, he quickly turns around to see nothing.
Cuphead: “Who’s there?!” He questions before the big ghost starts to tickle the boy causing him to fling the logs above him as he whips around to see nothing as the logs fall onto his head, bringing him to the ground.
Cuphead: “Huh?” He questions as he looks up to see two transparent people standing over him.
Big ghost: “Hello.” He says as he waves down at the boy, causing Cuphead to scream in fear before he rushes to get to his feet and runs away.

Mugman is seen sitting on the same log as he whistles tunelessly as he looks up to see a scary-looking tree with hand-like branches.
He shutters with scared eyes as he smacks his lips as inhales to start whistling again before seeing a bark on the ground that resembles a giant crocodile with his jaws wide open showing the many rows of sharp wooden teeth.
He tries to whistle once more but wheezes as he sees a tree with green eyes staring at him before they grow a neon green causing the boy to yell in fright before bracing himself for something.
The eyes in the tree dim as it reveals little green fireflies floating towards the boy as they float around him as he realizes what scared him, he giggles as he smiles as he stares at the colorful bugs.
Mugman: “Fireflies. Cuphead was right. Ghosts ain’t real.” He says as he holds a finger out to let a firefly rest.
Mugman: “You know, it’s actually kinda peaceful out here. Just the sounds of the wind, the owl, the “
Small ghost: “Disembodied voice behind you.” It says as Mugman freezes before narrowing his eyes.
Mugman: “Real cute, Cuphead.” He says as the small ghost ties the boy's shoelaces together from the log before disappearing.
Mugman: “Ha, ha, ha. Hilarious. I know you're trying to scare me, but I’m not falling for your—“ he says sarcastically as he takes a step off the log but falls over onto his face “… tricks” he mutters.
Mugman: “Not funny, Cuphead.” He says as he dusts himself off.
Small ghost: “I thought it was right funny. But I ain’t never heard of no Cuphead.” He says before he appears behind the boy who slowly looks over his shoulder.
Small ghost: “Top of the evening, love.” He says as he takes his hat off that reveals his brain covered in beetles that scatter.
Mugmans nose falls to the floor as he runs off but comes back fearfully to grab his blue nose, and puts it in on his face before running away.
Mugman: “CUPHEAD! CUPHEAD!” He screams as he rushes around the woods.
Mugman: “CUPHEAD!!!!” He screams before he crashes into his brother as they quickly look at each other.
Cuphead: “Mugman, I don’t wanna alarm you, but I think I just saw a -“ he is cut off as his brother looks up.
Mugman: “GHOSTS!!!” He screams as the three ghosts appear menacingly in front of them.
Cup brothers: “Y/N!!!!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It cuts to Y/n with a bright pink apron tied tightly to her body.
Y/n: “🎶Wherever she~ may be in this wide world out there, she’ll never meet a sweet gal like me~🎶 she sings to herself as she stirs her gumbo in a big bronze pot with a smile to herself as she uses her flame to bring ingredients into the pot.
In the background at the kitchen table sits Elder Kettle who is trying to read a newspaper but is currently glaring over the top of the paper toward the two young adults who came to visit his only granddaughter.
They were currently entertaining the Sunflowers, Briar, Lotus, and Poppy Y/n's adopted children in the living room as Y/n was cooking the gumbo.
Hilda: “Come back here ya little rascals!” She says with a wide grin as she chases Lotus and Poppy who rode in small bulls made of clouds that were made by Hilda.
Lotus: “Never!” He says as his sister looks back “You have to catch us first!” Poppy says as they gleefully laugh as they steer their bulls further away from Hilda who is currently chasing after them teasingly on foot around the living room passing by two individuals sitting on the floor.
Chips: “So little princess, is this how you hold a teacup?” He says as he holds a bright hot pink teacup in his hands as a pink tiara was spotted sitting on top of his cowboy hat, he smiles down at Briar holding her own teacup as she wears a sparkling pink tiara on her flower head.
Briar: “Hmm… for now yes! So next you have to..” she says as begins to demonstrate to him how to act at her little tea party with her stuffed animals who wore little hats or crowns with their own teacups as the pair sit on a soft pink blanket.
Y/n: “Aww~” she says as she leans half her body out of the doorway as smiles happily at seeing two people she really likes getting along with her adopted children.
Elder Kettle: “Why did they have to be here!” He says to Y/n who retracts her body back to the kitchen as she turns her head slightly at her grandfather.
Y/n: “Because I wanted to invite them! I also wanted to see if they would get along with the kids.” She says as she starts to clean the shrimp before dumping them into the pot.
Elder Kettle: “Get along with the kids” he repeats annoyed before he stuffs his face into his newspaper “They destroyed the front yard last time they were here..” he grumbles to himself as Y/n sighs to herself before focusing more on the gumbo.
As she cuts up the chicken she suddenly feels two shivers up her spine causing her to freeze and quickly stares at the window suddenly.
Y/n: “Something just happened…” she says monotone as Elder Kettle looks at her questioningly.
Elder Kettle: “Sweetie, is something wrong?” He questions worriedly at his granddaughter as he gets up from his chair and walks towards her with the help of his cane.
Y/n: “I’m fine.” She says as Elder Kettle raises an eyebrow “I’m fine! Really! I just worried about the boys, that’s all.” She reassures him.
Elder Kettle: *sighs* “You sweetheart, the boys are okay, why I bet they are on their way home from the theater hungry for your famous Gumbo!” He says with a smile as he hugs her by the side.
Cup brothers: “No more doors!” They scream in fright as they burst through the clock from the tallest height as they roll down a rough rock hill before hitting a ledge causing them to drop to the ground.
Small ghost: “Now do you believe in WHOA!!!” He screams as he looks out from the shattered clock as holds his hands against his mouth in horror at the two boys lying on the ground hundreds of feet below.
Big ghost: “Boo!” He says before getting smacked in the head by the smaller ghost.
Small ghost: “Knock it off, We got a real problem here.” He points to the boys as the ghosts all exclaim in shock.
They drift down to the motionless boys as the ghosts look at them with guilt.
Female ghost: “One minute, we’re all having fun. The next minute, two cups are dead.” She says as she looks down in sadness.
Big ghost: “Oh, the poor little cups…”
Small ghost: “Shall we say a few words then?” He says as he takes his hat off, he turns to the boys “HUH?! They’re gone?!” He says shocked.
30 feet away were the boys as they crawled through a small hole in the brick wall.
Mugman: “Come on! Come on!” He mutters as he pulls Cuphead hand before both ran off when Cuphead was freed from being stuck in the hole.
They ran home, opening the white fence gate, opening the door quickly before slamming it shut.
They leaned against it panting from the running as it shows them covered in dirt and bruises as they had stray leaves In their heads with some missing teeth.
Cuphead: “We made it!”
Mugman: “Safe at last.” He says as they both sign in relief before hearing Elder Kettle, Hilda, Y/n and Chips scream.
Elder Kettle: “Hiseous Zombie!!!” He screams as he holds his cane over his head.
Hilda points her weathervane at them threateningly with glowing red eyes while Chips drew his pistol out with a steaming glare in his eyes with the bandana over his nose.
Y/n who holds her fire in her hands as she lit herself aflame as they stood in front of the scared Sunflowers who began to weep at the sight of the supposed ‘Zombies’.
The brothers scream at the four adults as it cuts to the front of the house.
Hilda: “Come here!”
Chips: “Where do you think you're going!”
Elder Kettle: “Die! Zombies! Die!”
Y/n: “Stay away from my CHILDREN!”
