Summer Vacation part 2 *What about us?*
Phoenix and Bob are on mile 4 as they speak back and forth on big ticket items.
Phoenix: So Bob, Any chance you would like to move back here?
Bob: I have several reasons to come back here. But what about you? You’re a beautiful dessert rose with an amazing family back in Arizona. Seems like the west coast was more ideal for you.
Phoenix: Well, since Cal and I were with “Lego” yesterday, she offered me a position on her squadron of F-35’s here at Norfolk.
Bob:THAT’S AMAZING!
That’s one of your dream career goals! Nat, I support your decision to move. I will follow you or I will get out of the Navy if I cant get stationed close by.
Phoenix: I want you to stay in if you want to stay in. don’t do it for me!
Bob: Shell has a point my love, She wants to stay here in Virginia and she asked me to be a civilian contractor for the Navy.
I told her that I could lose my contract at any time even if the pay is better so the Navy is still a more reliable option but….
Phoenix: But nothing! Don’t worry about finding work! I can support you and the kids until you get your footing.
Bob: Does that mean I have laundry and dishes to do?
Phoenix: Damn right it does! Nobody can fold and starch dress uniforms like you.
You always make me look better when you help dress me for those big Navy functions.
Bob: I can live with that until I am working.
Phoenix: See, here we go again solving our issues ahead of time. You’re about damn perfect Robert Ryan.
Bob: That’s Mutual Natasha Jade, But I was wondering if we could talk about something Cal might have mentioned to me last night?
Phoenix: Depends, we said a lot of things last night.
Bob: the boy was excited about the possibility of having a baby brother or sister someday.
He seems to think you and I could help him with that?
I am not opposed to another blessing in my life and to see you with my own kids and how much you love them, I Jus-
Phoenix: YES! I WANT KIDS OF MY OWN!
But I’m only 29 so theres still time!
Bob: plenty of it. But I am going to need some time to get things in order. I wish to be vague here please?
Phoenix looks at him with smirk as they continue to run.
Phoenix: How did you propose to Carrie anyway? I gotta know if you are creative.
Bob: I took knee on stage behind her after she had her curtain call for a play.
She had no idea but she was a fan.
Phoenix: I like that.
But I hope you can surprise me when that day comes.
Bob: Yes ma’am, I believe I got just the idea.
Phoenix: Keep it to yourself then!
She shoves him playfully as they continue to run and finally make it to Frank and Helens but while Helen is on the porch and waves to them with a huge smile frank is cleaning one of his rifles in the garage but while he Nods to his son, he gives Nix the biggest smile and grabs a bouquet of flowers to hand to her.
Frank: And these are for you Ms. Trace.
Phoniex: Awe, So sweet! That must be where you got it from huh Robbie?
Frank: Hell, the damn dummy wouldn’t listen to anything else I ever told him but maybe thats the most important thing I did ever say!
Bob: Gee, Thanks Dad. Always felt encouraged and loved growing up.
Frank Pops Bob in the shoulder really hard but then smiles at him and hugs the snot out of his son that he truly does love to death.
Frank: My worst troublemaking boy turned into one hell of a good man and daddy to those grandkids of mine!
But Son, when you gonna stop draggin your feet here and get me a new daughter in law?
Hellen: FRANCIS RYAN FLOYD! You mind your manners sir! You cant rush love !
He will ask her when hes good and ready!
Phoenix is chuckling to herself as she gives Frank a kind smile that melts him just like always.
Phoenix: Its alright Hellen. I know he means well and I love his big heart!
Hellen moves closer to hug Nix ith a gentle smile.
Hellen: Well, sometimes the damn Navy SEAL in him thinks he has to be over-aggressive all the time. You should have seen him try to play Ken and Barbie with Shelley when she was a toddler.
Bob Starts laughing hard.
Bob: Ha! Like that time he brought his own G.I. Joe and used it to kick kens butt?
Frank: All is fair in love and war boy.
Hellen: Well ya’ll come inside and lets eat!
After lunch, Frank Takes them back to Wes and Cheryl’s but Since they are gone with Cal and Shell to an ice cream parlor, Phoenix and Bob share a shower together but they get distracted.
Bob is Behind her in the shower and being even more quiet than usual but his hands are all over her back.
Phoenix: You’re never this quiet when its shower time. Talk to me.
Bob holds her tightly from behind but whispers in her ear.
Bob: Just trying to not be rowdy. We are at my in-laws Afterall. But I want you. And I don’t want to hold back at all.
He bites her ear gently.
Phoneix has a smirk as she shivers but she ups the ante with her own hands going lower on him.
Phoenix: Then what are you waiting for? The sooner we go the sooner we can get this done before they get back.
Don’t think, just do me!
They get after it in the shower followed by them chuckling as they actually clean themselves.
Once they are in there underwear, Bob tries to help Nix get her socks on but she keeps flirting with him by moving her feet.
They get into another play fight again while laughing at each other and exchanging some foul language but now that they are at the stairstep, they decide to calla truce and walk downs stairs and are horrified to see the kids and Bobs In-laws in the living room all having “Quiet Time” where everybody just reads a book of their choosing.
Bob: Oh hey Dad, when did you guys get back from the parlor?
Wes: We have been back since you all got back here.
I was surprised you didn’t see us before you all took turns in the shower.
Or did you?
Wes gives Bob a sarcastic look of judgement but Cheryl cant keep up with the joke and busts out laughing while the kids also shake their heads.
Cheryl: Now Robert, I haven’t heard you use that kind of language since you were in Highschool. I would appreciate it if you don’t say those things to a lady again you hear?
Phoenix is trying not to laugh as she looks down at the floor but her eyes are menacing at Bobs while he has the biggest shit eating grin on his face.
Bob: Yes Ma’am. I had a moment of weakness.
Shelley: A MOMENT!? You just banged your girlfriend in the shower while she also called you some very naughty names!
Bob and Cheryl Bust out laughing hard now while Phoenix and Bob are red in the face but still smirking at each other and even hold hands.
Calvin doesn’t quiet understand what’s going on but he thinks he’s on to something.
Calvin: IS that how babies are made? Gosh! That’s a lot of yelling and moaning! Sounds painful! Im never having kids!
Everybody else loses It and starts to laugh hysterically.
Bob: You and I need to have a talk in private Mister.
Bobs is all smiles as he picks up his son while Cal is trying to understand what he did wrong.
Calvin: What the? DAD! How the hell am I in trouble for this!? I didn’t even touch a girl!, BUT YOU DID!!!
Cal has his signature death stare on his dad as Bob busts out laughing again but so does everyone else.
Bob: Easy Son, your not in trouble. I was just going to explain some things to you in a simple way that helps you understand that Natasha and I weren’t being mean to each other.
Calvin; Phew! Cuz for a moment there, I thought you broke our pinkie promise remember?
Bob snuggles his boy a bit tighter.
Bob: of course I do.
Bob keeps his voice down for the next few minutes while everyone else is trying not to be nosey but it doesn’t last as everybody hears Calvin’s voice once again.
Calvin: EW! DAD THAT’S GROSS!!
DID YOU WANT TO DIE OF COOTIES!? BECAUSE THAT’S HOW YOU DIE OF COOTIES!
Bob can now be heard laughing hard as he tries to recover.
They finally get back to the livingroom where not much is said but Calvin is beside himself.
Shelley: Hey Bro, now that you learned a bunch of new stuff, how does it feel?
Calvin: Oh I will tell you how I feel! Dad is gross and I need a drink!
He Goes to the fridge and returns a minute later with a juice box and everyone laughs at him with his thousand yard stare and is drinking until it makes a slurping sound.
Another hour later, and Phoenix Takes the kids out to a waterpark while Bob helps Wes and Cheryl with cleaning the kitchen.
Bob decides its now or never. He has to know if they can accept him getting married again.
Bob: Wes..Cheryl?
Cheryl: what is it Bob? Did we embarrass you too much today?
Bob: Gosh, not at all. Its just that… I really do care for Natasha and our relationship has continued to get stronger.
I understand that I have been living in sin and I need to repent and yet, nothing feels wrong with her. I know we haven’t been together for long but she really is somebody I love with all my heart.
She is also very close to Cal and Shell.
To simplify this, I wish to re-marry and Natasha is the one I am seeking but I am asking for your blessing to move on.
I can promise you and swear before God almighty that I shall never forget her but I also wish to have ah help mate again.
Carrie will always be my first true love and the Mother of my children.
Wes and Cheryl lookat each other with gentle smiles and nod to each other but turn their attention to Bob.
Wes: We know Natasha Loves you and the kids.
We know you love her back.
Cheryl: Natasha is pretty like a rose but she’s got a couple of wild thorns… Yet they only make her even more intriguing and even more beautiful.
Wes: We give you our blessing to move forward but under two conditions.
Bob Bows gently.
Bob: Sir, I am listening.
Cheryl: always continue to seek God first in your life while Leading your children in the ways of the Lord.
Wes: And I would challenge you to remain celibate until your wedding night once again.
You have done it before and I know you can do it again.
Bob: I agree to your wishes with a slight possible adjustment.
Natasha may not choose to abstain from the bedroom but I will certainly keep myself well guarded.
They all share a warm hug and hang out as one big family that evening.
As Everyone else is enjoying themselves with an intense game of Monopoly, Phoenix and Bob are outside on the Porch snuggling and smiling at each other.
Bob: Natasha, I want to know you until the day I die. You make me better. I love you.
Phoenix: Ditto Bobby Baby. We are connected now, We cant leave each other anymore can we?
Bob: Nope.
And I thank God for it every morning when I wake up.
Phoenix moves closer to him.
Phoenix: And I thank God that I can have a life outside of the cockpit.
Kiss me Sir.
Bob: Yes Ma’am.
Bob Nix and the Kid’s left the East Coast two days later and made it back to TOP GUN for the Summer.
