Deeper than Love with my Friends
"Dave, can you lend a hand?" Kipo heard a voice she didn't recognize. She whispered to her friend Wolf, "What's happening?" As they approached, Wolf explained, "These two got caught in one of my traps." Kipo looked at the strangers, a boy, and a bug mute, trapped in nets hanging from the trees. "Hey, who are you?" Kipo shouted, revealing herself. "Could you release us? And is anyone else there?" The boy with cropped black hair, brown skin, and a colorful sweatshirt with a fanny-pack slung over his shoulder replied. Kipo demanded, "Who are you?" with more force.
Kipo, being the older sister, was determined to protect Wolf from any harm that might come their way. She tried to push aside the thought of their dad for the moment and focused on the present. The bug finally gave in and introduced himself and his human friend, Benson. However, when the bug referred to Kipo as "Pinky," Wolf became defensive and claimed that only she was allowed to use that nickname. She stood up and waved her staff at them.
Kipo let out a groan before reluctantly speaking up. "Fine, I'll tell you, but only if you can prove that we can trust you." She hesitated, wondering if it was worth risking their safety. Without wasting any more time, she quickly climbed up a tree to cut them down.
After reaching the abandoned mega-bunny burrow, Wolf started to intimidate the strangers. Kipo tried to tune most of it out and focused on cooking instead.
The meat smelled so..delicious..so..so tasty..
She shook her head, fighting her animalistic urges. “Wol-sis, how’s the interview going?” Wolf growled, turning to look at Kipo. “It’s an INTERROGATION, not an INTERVIEW!”
The hybrid chuckled. “If you say so. Oh, and dinner’s ready!” She heard Benson and Dave’s stomach growl as she brought the plates over. “So, what should we call you? I mean, you won’t tell us your names, sooo?” The boy asked through a mouthful of mega-bunny meat. “Also, why is your food raw?” The bug questioned, eyeing Kipo’s plate. “You can call us your captors, duh!” Wolf replied. “Uh-it tastes better?” The pink girl said to Dave. Her pupils dilated, and the whites of her eyes began to fade into pink.
She gripped the meat with her new claws, ripping chunks off and swallowing them. When she finished it, she felt herself staring hungrily at Benson and Dave. “Um, are you ok?” the boy asked, scooting backward slightly. She shook her head and looked back apologetically. “Uh-yep, sorry about that!”
The night went by rather smoothly. Kipo turned into her jaguar form to keep watch once they’d all fallen asleep.
A few hours passed and nothing had happened. Her eyelids were droopy, and she yawned, beginning to fall asleep.
“Psst, Dave! The coast is clear!”
Her sharp feline ears picked up the whisper, perking. A growl rose in the hybrid’s throat as she saw them move toward the small huddle of Wolf in the nest.
Not
Gonna
Happen
Kipo lunged at the boy, jaws open in a furious snarl. He yelped, shaking his arm to free it from her teeth. “Stay AWAY FROM HER!” She tried to shout, but in this form, it came out as more of a series of growls. “Um, Dave?!” Her fur bristled, whirling around to pin the bug down.
The pink cat could hear her little sister beginning to stir and tossed the bleeding boy on top of his friend. Blood stained her maw, glinting in the moonlight. “K-Kipo? W-Where..?” Wolf asked sleepily, rubbing her eyes.
Kipo leaped out of the hole, disappearing and transforming back into a human. She carefully crept back into the nest behind the small girl. “Mmmm?” The pink-haired girl said, pretending to have just woken up. “Um. Th-this isn’t what it looks like! You see uh-I had to..go to the..bathroom-? Yeah, and I got up and then this crazy, like, leopard or something attacked me, and then Dave woke up and it just left!”
Wolf arched an eyebrow at her friend. “Yeah, well, try again in the morning, eh, Benny?” Kipo yawned, and despite being tired, knew she had to stay awake. Just in case this ‘crazy leopard thing’ returned.

Benson had a restless night-he felt like the pink girl was watching him the entire time.
The next morning, he noticed dark circles under her eyes but decided to ignore them. "Now, can you please explain what exactly happened last night?" She asked.
He paused for a moment to recall his fabricated story. "Well, I woke up to use the bathroom and then a pink leopard-like creature appeared and attacked me! Dave woke up too and it attacked him before disappearing."
The pink girl rubbed her temples, an inhuman growl escaping her throat.
Benson flinched, rubbing his injured arm. The bandage was soaked with blood, and images of the creature that did this to him haunted his brain.
“Kipo,” the smaller girl said in a hushed voice. “Keep it together.”
The pink one shook her head, took a deep breath, and turned to her. “He’s lying, Wolf, I know he is!”
“Look, uh...Kipo, was it?” Her head whipped back towards him, eyes narrowed. “Uh-yeah, so, can we, like-leave now?”
She let out a bitter laugh, a feral look in her eyes. “Leave? LEAVE?! Why would I let you leave?! You tried to KILL HER!”
“Kipo-“ the younger girl started, reaching a hand out to her. “No! I can’t just let this go! You could have been HURT!”
Kipo’s pupils dilated, darting around the area, her body suddenly frozen in place. “Do you hear that?”
Came her barely audible whisper. “H-hear what?” Benson questioned, looking around.
The pink one’s head snapped up, and her body turned in his direction.
“Get down!”
