Noel Had a Dream

Noel woke up from his dream. He was shocked for two reasons, one being that they had died. Usually in his dreams, he, or rather Monique, was on the brink of death. He always woke up before it actually happened though. The second reason being they weren’t actually Monique in the dream, well not entirely. He had mentioned being Monique but he was still themself.

This dream was very out of the ordinary for Noel. When they dreamt, he was always Monique, it was something they could count on.

When he was Monique in this specific dream he was singing. Noel was singing about his dreams, his dreams of being Monique Gibeau. They could remember how confident he had felt during that moment. Being Monique always helped him feel better about himself, because they weren’t himself.

Noel never expected to sing a song telling his fellow choir members about Monique but he did, they didn’t think it was entirely voluntary, there was this fortune teller machine influencing them. It sounded crazy- but he supposed it was a dream after all.

He sat thinking about their song, there was a part where he had kissed a boy from the choir, a boy he thought was homophobic. When they thought about the kiss it made him nervous, he hadn’t ever kissed someone before even in dreams, in his dreams Monique did all the kissing. Oh Jesus Christ, Noel had to see Mischa Bachinski in choir today. This was going to be awkward. Was this dream trying to tell Noel that they had a crush on Mischa? It was odd, Mischa kind of intimidated Noel and they definitely thought, and still believe, Mischa is homophobic.

Mischa was a really interesting person within the dream, different from how he seemed to be in real life. He was passionate, kind, and emotional. Not really what they ever thought Mischa to be. Noel figured Mischa to be more of the homophobic bully who talks with his fists. He could see why in this dream Noel would want to kiss Mischa, he was a very sweet boy. Actually, in the dream Mischa made Noel feel accepted and safe. Only if the dream was real maybe he could be understood more by someone in Uranium.

Noel needed to stop romanticizing a very possible homophobe that he shared the choir with. This would only end in more tragedy for Noel, while they strived for tragedy this isn’t what he had in mind.

Noel thought more about the oddities in the dream, Ocean towards the end did something not selfish. It was like fresh air to see her not only think about herself. She was still unbearable though.

Ocean’s song was terrible, which wasn’t unusual for her. She sang about being better than the whole choir, she said horrible things about Constance and Ricky. Is this how Noel saw Ocean? In real life, she wasn't just as bad. She wouldn’t say those horrible things- at least Noel thought she wouldn’t. I guess in the back of his mind they thought of her in that way. But, Ocean wasn’t actually a terrible person but she’d say anything if the stakes were her life.

Noel could barely process this dream. It was just so unusual, they decided to move on and get ready for school. Hopefully he could forget this dream and go about their day like nothing happened, though that was fairly unlikely.
