Getting Ready for a Reunion
The Advisor, currently going by Uriel Smith, felt a shiver of anticipation and foreboding go down their spine. It was time. They gently set down their tea cup and made their way to where Sarah Jane was getting ready for her interview. "Sarah Jane dear?", they called.
Sarah Jane looked up from her bag. "Yes?"
"I'd like to join you in your investigation tonight, if it's alright with you." The Advisor asked calmly as they clasped their hands in front of them. Sarah Jane’s eyes sharpened, analyzing the alien’s body language for any hints as to why they’d ask that question. Over the years Sarah Jane had learned that when it came to looking for adventures, and more than often trouble, the Advisor could not be more different than their husband, the Doctor. While they love exploring and investigating for the sake of knowledge, they would much rather avoid any trouble or danger if possible. They often groused about their husband having the self preservation instincts of a dying star. And the explosiveness of one as well. They had been quite vocal in mourning the fact that it seemed that these instincts were infectious upon meeting many ex-companions. Particularly one Mrs. Jo Jones née Grant and one Miss Sarah Jane Smith.
“And why, exactly, would you want to do that?” Sarah Jane asked, suspicious. The Advisor’s body language gave nothing away but Sarah Jane couldn’t help but notice an unusual glimmer in the Gallifreyan’s old eyes. Her own widened as a thought stuck her.
“Is it time?” she asked breathlessly, an old hope and hurt and yearning filled her chest.
The Advisor smiled gently at the young human they’d grown endlessly fond of, and nodded.
“It is indeed, my dear.” they replied, letting some of their hope and excitement slip into their voice.
It was time to finally reunite with their husband, the Doctor, and where else would he be but where the trouble was at: Deffry Vale School.
