Chapter 13

Yubin walked through the metal doors, pushing the thick plastic tarp that acted as a second door to the small warehouse. She walked closer toward the front, seeing the three cops that had been their little moles but were now double-crossing them.

They were down on their knees, stripped down to the bare essentials with their hands behind their heads.

“Ah… Well now isn’t this a sight to see!” Yubin chuckled. “Three little pigs all on their knees in the ready position to be executed,” She smirked. “Now… Which one of you fucked up and took a bribe?” She asked while looking at all three of them.

They looked at each other, each shaking their heads before looking back down at the tarp-covered floor.

“Hm… Not squealing?” Yubin tutted. “Shame. Which one of you has a family again?” She asked while crouched down in front of the farthest one on the left, looking him in the eyes. “Be a shame if they just… disappeared… or maybe… left you… right?” She pulled out one of her knives, admiring it in front of him.

It was a thicker blade, larger than most.

“I think my favorite thing to do… is torture people… I know Miss Han warned you about me when you first walked into this job…” She smiled. “And here we are…” She sighed before stabbing the knife into the officer’s thigh.

She heard the agonizing scream of pure pain and terror, causing her to smile.

“Fuck this!” The officer on the other side shouted before standing up to attack Yubin.

Yubin was quicker, knowing exactly what would happen. She pulled out a gun and shot him in the hip, watching him collapse while screaming.

“Now… where was I…” Yubin sighed before standing up.

She walked around, listening to the two officers screaming and thrashing at the sudden pains they were feeling. She walked toward the one officer who hadn’t uttered a word. She was curious. He didn’t seem to be talkative but he sure looked afraid.

“Looks like you’re the lucky little piggy with your house made of bricks,” She smirked. “I’m going to give you one last chance… Who took the bribe.” She growled.

She watched the man start to crumble, sobbing while he pointed at the officer with a knife in his thigh.

“Ah, I should’ve called you a canary. Listen to you sing that gorgeous little song.” She laughed.

“He made us do it! He took the bribe and said if we didn’t get out you would kill us anyway!” He sobbed.

“I’d hate to admit it… but your brother-in-arms was right,” Yubin chuckled before executing the two men next to him. “And I’d hate to leave just one little piggy alive too… Pigs are social creatures. Be kind of… inhumane to keep them their own kind.”

The gunshot echoed in the small warehouse, and she couldn’t help but smile to herself. Their problem was solved. Temporarily, but it was solved.

She had the rest of the team clean and dispose of the bodies, taking photos of their lifeless forms and smiling before pocketing them. She made sure everything was taken care of before leaving and dialing Dong’s number the second she got into her car.

“Well?” She asked.

“Disposed of the takeout. The fridge is being cleaned as we speak,” She smiled.

“Perfect. Now the office won’t smell anymore.”

Yubin made her way home, deciding her day was done since it was really the only thing she had on her to-do list that day. Find the rats and exterminate them. Simple as that. And since that was done, she was free to go home.

She walked into the large home, frowning when she was greeted by the maids. She let out a sigh, knowing that Minji wasn’t just at work. She was at work and then would be going to the vacation home to make her fake marriage seem realistic in case people showed up there.

Yubin flopped on the couch, letting out a small sigh as she flipped through the channels on the television. She hated how biased the news outlets were. Watching them paint the entire story of their own murders as some kind of romanticized thing.

It wasn’t romantic or glamorous.

The people they killed owed them money, and they had no way to pay it back. So they killed them. Harvested their organs and sold them on the black market to get their money back. The only person who was living after owing so much money was Siyeon’s father, but that was a different story. That was a fuck up beyond life itself.

Dong knew she had to kill him. Yubin even knew that.

But they didn’t.

She ended up landing on a random channel, letting out a huff before turning her head to see Yoohyeon outside with her camera. She watched her for a few moments, watching her take meticulous photos of various things in the small yard. Yubin knew Minji had seen a few of the photos, and she was curious what Yoohyeon took photos of.

Yubin pushed the sliding door open, watching her for a moment before calling out.

“Yoohyeon-ah, come here,” She called out for her, unmoving from her spot on the couch.

The older woman made her way back inside, shutting the door behind her before looking down at Yubin. She watched as Yubin raised an eyebrow at her and almost immediately everything clicked before she dropped to her knees.

“You’re learning. Good.” Yubin let out a sigh, relaxing more into the cushions.

“Yes ma’am,” Yoohyeon whispered.

“What were you doing outside?” She asked.

“Taking photos…” She mumbled.

Yubin held out her hand, glancing down at Yoohyeon before she handed over the camera. She was curious as to why Yoohyeon looked ashamed of herself and wanted to ask, but she would later.

The younger woman clicked through the gallery, amazed at the different things Yoohyeon had gotten photos of. Various birds perched in the nearby trees, bugs on plants, the way the sky looked at certain times of the day, even some inside the house.

Yubin had to admit, they looked nice.

“Why do you have a sorrowful face?” Yubin asked while still looking at the photos.

“Are you upset with me?” Yoohyeon asked, causing Yubin to frown.

“Why would I be upset with you? I just wanted to see what you’ve been taking photos of,” Yubin answered. She handed the camera back, watching Yoohyeon carefully take it from her and place it on her lap. “You’ve done nothing wrong.”

Yoohyeon nodded, happy she hadn’t upset Yubin.

“Is Minji coming home tonight?” Yoohyeon asked.

“Not for a few months,” Yubin sighed. “Business.” She shrugged.

“Got it…” Yoohyeon mumbled. “What kind of business?” She asked.

“Off the table,” Yubin glared.

“Yes ma’am,” Yoohyeon whispered. “I’m sorry ma’am,” She quickly apologized.

Yubin smiled at how quick the response was now. Yoohyeon really was learning and it made her heart swell.

“You’re learning so well.” Yubin smiled. “Maybe I’ll reward you for learning so well,” She whispered. “What would you like?” She asked.

“Um… can we have pasta?” The taller woman asked quietly.

“Of course,” Yubin smiled.
