Chapter 4
The man’s screams echoed and bounced against the concrete walls. His wrists were bound behind the chair he occupied while his legs were attached to the legs of the chair themselves. Yubin watched as the man pleaded for his life, sputtering nonsense before looking back at her boss. All empty promises to pay back the rather large debt he had accumulated.
“Mr. Lee… Do I look like someone who forgives?” Dong asked, stepping into the light of the warehouse they occupied. “Do you think I could forgive the one hundred forty-six million won you borrowed from me?” She chuckled.
Yubin glanced back down at the man in front of her, her expression unchanging as she watched him begin to cry.
“Pathetic.” The older woman scoffed while circling him.
“I needed the money!” He cried. “My family needed the money!” He sobbed.
“And now I need my money back. You were given a year Mr. Lee.” Dong continued to walk, this time, walking back to her original spot in front of the man in the chair.
“I can get you the money! I swear!” He shouted.
“And how do I know you’ll keep your promise this time Mr. Lee?” Dong sighed.
The man looked down, unsure how he would pay the entire debt back.
“Yubin…” Dong sighed, gesturing to the man.
Yubin smirked, sliding the brass knuckles onto her right fist.
“Please! Wait! Let me think!” He screamed before she decked him in the face.
Yubin waited, watching him spit blood out onto the concrete before letting out a groan.
“Mr. Lee… How do you plan on paying back my money.” Dong growled. “I am not a patient woman.”
“We can work harder… Much… Much harder to pay in weekly installments!” He quickly stated.
“Mr. Lee…”
“With interest!”
“Mr. Lee… When you applied for a loan with the bank… Did they ask for some kind of collateral?” Dong asked, stepping forward to him.
“Yes… I gave them the deed to our home… They said it wasn’t worth the price I was asking for…” He whispered.
“Why did you need the money?” She whispered, taking another step closer to him.
“My eldest… She needed surgery and they refused to do it without paying…” He explained.
“And your eldest… How old is she?” Dong asked.
“Twenty-two…”
“How many children do you have?”
“Three…”
“And your middle child? How old is she?”
“Twenty…”
Dong looked back at Yubin, raising an eyebrow at her.
“Siyeon sure is adorable isn’t she…” Dong sighed. She snapped her fingers, hearing her men walk out behind her.
The man in front of her watched as they pushed Siyeon down to her knees. He heard her shout the second she hit the ground, tears in her eyes at the sudden sharp pain.
“No…” the man whispered. “No!” He shouted.
“Until your debt is paid… She stays with me.” Dong smiled at the man, watching him start to get more agitated. “Yubin,” She took a few steps back, allowing the smaller woman to take the lead again.
She heard the sounds of Yubin absolutely wailing on him as she stepped toward the daughter. She placed a hand out for her, helping her stand up.
“Your father is a bad man… And you’ll stay with me. Understood?” Dong whispered.
It was a long ride home, keeping the daughter bound and covered so she couldn’t find a way to escape. She couldn’t help but watch the woman, taking everything in.
Siyeon wasn’t dressed in expensive clothes, just a sweatshirt and jeans that looked like they had seen better days. Her shoes looked more dangerously worn down, and everything about her screamed low income.
When they arrived at the mansion, Dong was the first to walk in, immediately greeted by her parents.
“Did you kill him?” Her father asked.
“No…” She whispered. “I took his daughter,” She gestured behind her, revealing the woman behind her.
Her father glared at the woman before looking back down at his daughter. He went to raise his hand, about to slap her when the front door opened again.
“He won’t be walking for a while,” Yubin muttered as she walked in. She paused the second she saw what was going on and frowned.
“So you… Took his daughter… And physically harmed him… How is he going to pay his debts if he is unable?” He glared at the two girls. “And how does that help me?” He snapped. He grabbed one of the glass candlesticks, chucking it against the tile floor, watching it shatter into a million pieces. “How are you supposed to be a proper leader if you continue to make these mistakes?!” He shouted.
“Sir… She did make her point clear,” one of the men spoke. “Not once did she get her own hands dirty… She had her second do that… She took collateral…” He gestured to the woman behind him.
“And?” He growled.
“She was just like you were in the beginning sir.”
Dong’s father let out a sigh, shaking his head.
“Get ready… Both of you. Dong has to meet her future this evening. This girl will be your problem from now on.” He growled before leaving the entrance to their home.
Dong and Yubin walked together, hearing the extra footsteps behind them before they walked into the older’s room. The men shoved the girl in there with them, and Yubin let out a sigh.
“What are we supposed to do with her?” Yubin groaned.
“I don’t know!” Dong frowned. “My first fucking shakedown and I fucked up big time.” She muttered before walking over to the girl. She took the sack off her head, seeing the tears silently streaming down her face. “Oh, stop crying. Your dad was a fuck up.” She muttered. “Things could be a lot worse. I could’ve killed you back there.” She scoffed.
“Why didn’t you?” Siyeon sniffed.
“Because, unlike my father, I don’t kill innocent people.” Dong walked to her closet, digging through it before pulling out a black dress. “If you’ll excuse me… I have to get ready to meet my future spouse,” She muttered before taking the dress and leaving the room entirely.
Yubin shook her head, letting out a sigh before walking over to Siyeon. She cut the ties behind her wrist and watched her turn around slowly.
“If you try to run, they will kill you,” Yubin warned her. “I would stay in this room as much as possible. Anyone who walks in here without permission gets stabbed… Quickly,” She whispered.
She watched the newcomer look around, frowning at the place she was supposed to call home for however long it took for her father to repay his debt. She saw the fear in her eyes and knew that nothing good would come from any of it.
“How old are you two?” Siyeon whispered.
“I’m eighteen… Dong is nineteen…” Yubin answered. “We… She’s next in charge,” She shrugged.
“And she went to meet her future spouse?” Siyeon asked, turning to look at the younger woman.
“Yeah, her dad set it up. He says they’ll learn to love each other. That Dong needs to have someone like this person in her life forever,” Yubin answered.
“And who are you to them?” Siyeon frowned.
“My dad… He is her dad’s number two. Skilled in all things killing and… assault really… He trained my brother and me… We... We grew up in the business,” She smiled. “We take care of things the bosses don’t want to do… Which includes killing.”
Siyeon took a step back from the younger girl, shaking her head. She didn’t like this girl one bit and now she was in a room with her for however long she stayed.
“Don’t worry… I follow orders well. I don’t just kill because I feel like it,” Yubin chuckled.
