High Above the Clouds
Alaric Saltzman was sitting in his office, looking at piles upon piles of paperwork he has to go over for the new recruits. He was stressed, and couldn't stand being in his office any longer. And with all the rigorous training Hope has been wanting, he needed to step up, do something. And the bottle was always his lifeline, but he couldn’t today. Malivore kept sending out monsters more than he could read.
It slipped his mind that he needed to give a tour to the daughter of one of the most important people in both the supernatural and human realms. He hadn’t bothered telling either of the twins if they could. He needed that to go well, not only is her family important and one of their biggest donors, she was the heir.
“Mg!” Alaric yelled down the hall.
“Yes Dr.S? What can I do for you?”
“Can you find where the twins are? It’s urgent.” Alaric was looking for Penelope Park’s paperwork.
Josette and Elizabeth Saltzmen walked in, in sync, step aligned with step.
“Dad, what happened? Mg said it was urgent.” Luckily for Mg, they had just left the cafeteria together, arm in arm.
Alaric was practically out of the door only. Getting out of his chair quickly and grabbing his things. “I need you to give me a tour in 10 minutes. Focus on all this school is the best at. Impress her. Her class schedule and her room key are right there on my desk. I have something to do. Sorry girls. If she needs anything please try to accommodate her. ”
"Thanks.” Alaric left without another word. Leaving the twins with no choice but to do the tour.
“Ugh. This is the third tour we have done this week and it’s only Tuesday.”
“ I know, Lizzie. The faster we go. The fastest we will be done.”
“Or. Hear me out. You take this one and I swear I will do the next one by myself. Please, Jo. And you owe me. ”
“Fine.”
“Thank Jo. You’re the best. See you later.”
Josie heads out to the front to greet the new student. All she learned from the information her father had left was that she was the eldest park. Taking almost all the same advanced classes with her with the addition of all the werewolf tracks of course.
That was when she saw the helmet getting taken off, of the girl she met a month ago, one she couldn’t stop thinking about. Dark hair, green eyes, and the stupid devilish smirk, and of course it had to be the signature Park smirk. Josie walked up to greet her.
“Hi, I am Josette Saltzman. But everyone calls me Josie. I will be showing you around the school today.” Josie said looking directly into her green eyes, she turned around and was about to begin the tour.
“Am I that forgettable?” Penelope asked as Josie continued walking.
“Sorry do I know you?” She stopped abruptly.
“Right” Penelope kept her smile. “I am Penelope Park.”
"I can’t believe you didn’t tell me.” Josie slapped her arm.
“JoJo, sorry to break your heart but with a name like mine..”
“Sorry with a name like yours? I couldn’t care less. But clearly, you are similar to Jed and not to Alexis at all.” Even with her assumption of her family being so important. She could help but smile at the nickname she used too quickly.
“Okay wait. Let me go about that again. With a last name like mine, I have to be careful. Do you think we would’ve had the same conversation if you knew? Negative or positive my name changes things. I just wanted to have a conversation with a pretty girl on a death-bringing bridge. But I told you I would see you again. And here we are” Penelope hated that it almost sounds like a speech about fate, all she could think of was being predictable now, leather jacket and a big name.
“Come on I'll show you around.”
“Before we start, can you take me to my brother and sister?”
“Oh yeah totally.”
“They should be on the field.” They walked off in direction of the Wickery Field. Talking like they never stopped. All the basics again. Not catching up about their last conversation. Not yet. But getting to know each other.
