“What is that?” They walked over to the field and Penelope couldn’t even describe what she was witnessing. It looked like football, but with magic, kinda like a water-down version of quidditch.
“Really?” Josie looked at her confused. “That is Wickery. Kinda like quidditch, just easier to play and way more realistic. It lets us showcase our supernatural abilities in a “positive way”. Josie said in air quotes. “The goal is to get that ball into one of the hoops that appear through the field, in any way you can.”
“How would I know that Jojo?”
“Because Jed and Alexis are two of the best players here. I’m surprised they never told you about it.”
“Never really got into all the technicality of it all.”
“Are you gonna go say hi? or watch like a creep.”
“When I make my entrance I make it known I am here, right now I just want to see them.” Penelope was kept away from them her entire life, never being able to be with them for more than a summer break and after a while, those stop altogether too. Looking at them being able to mess around and laugh with others made her relieved.
Penelope?! Jed yelled as he stood in place looking at his eldest sister in disbelief. He hasn’t seen her in years, always so busy, never having time anymore. He stood in place not knowing how to proceed, as a football came flying his way.
“Shi-t” he yelled. His eye was bruised up and that ball thrown with the arm and strength his sister has did not help.
“That’s on you, not me,” Alexis yelled walking over to her brother and sister. “You'll be fine, Jed, don't be a baby.”
“So is no one gonna greet me? Or should I leave?”
“Penelope!” Alexis ran over to her sister and embraced her. “I missed you,” she said as they were embracing each other.
“I missed you, too”. Jed walked over hugging his sisters. They all pulled away and Penelope was able to see their faces, she noticed Jed's black eye. “What happened to you?”
“Nothing. Ow that hurts.” She had touched it, poking it all over.
“Why aren’t you healed yet? That’s at least two days old”
“It's a fine pen.”
“Who did this to you?'' One thing definitely didn’t change about Penelope. She needed to protect those closest to her, no matter what.
“I have it under control,” Jed stated to his sister, knowing if he kept her eye contact she would believe him.
“Alexis.” She was like a dog with a bone, not letting it go not till she was done with it.
“It's the alpha, his little bitch betas beat Jed up once in a while.”
“Lex. Why?” Jed whined to his sister.
“She was gonna find out sooner or later.”
“Why?” Penelope asked, still looking at Jed but asking Alexis.
“Because Jed wanted to kick his brother out ‘the human’ not so human. And Rafael didn’t like that.”
Penelope looked away first. She could see it in his eyes, he wasn’t backing down. “If you have it handled fine, I won’t do anything. But if it gets out of control I will end it. I am still your sister.”
“Oh my hero,” Jed said mockingly.
“You’re annoying, you know that,” Penelope replied back to him.
“I love you Pen, but why are you here after so long?”
“I am enrolling.”
“Really! Alexis said excitedly.
“For how long?” Jed was excited but he always knew his sister had other priorities, it was too good to be true. He hadn’t seen or talked to his sister in a really long time. And he was suspicious.
“Doesn’t matter. She’s here, that's all that matters. I am guessing Josie’s been looking for here for the entire time because?”
“She’s my tour guide. I asked her if I could see you two first.”
“Well go! don’t wanna upset the pouty Saltzman”
“Bye P we will swing by your room later. Bye, Josie.” Alexis and Jed waved as they left.
“You know something’s off,” Jed said to his sister.
“I know. But she’s here now.”
“You think it’s about all the rumors about what’s happening back home.”
