Natasha's POV
Chapter 3: Natasha’s POV
Clint pulled the car around the corner just a block from the lab entrance, turning to look at her he asked “You good to go?”
“Yeah I’m good, can you read me Steve?” she asked into her earpiece
“Yeah, Sam and I read you; both audio and visual are live. How long do you think this will take?”
“Two hours at max, but it should give Clint enough time to check out their shipping yard and meet me back here.” Natasha said looking at Clint who nodded in affirmation.
“Okay, roger that and Romanov?” Steve paused with a question in his voice “Remember that this is a do not engage.”
“Yep, I heard you the first time Steve” Natasha said.
Removing her hand from her earpiece she stepped out of the car and gave Clint a final nod before heading down the sidewalk to Horizon Labs. After entering the building she chatted quickly with the receptionist who explained the Dr. Harvey would be down right away to give her the tour but she was welcome to wait in his office.
So much for security, Natasha thought as she stepped through the door into his office. She casually browsed around the office looking for clues about the weapon Tony believed she would find, all while listening for the sound of approaching footsteps. After a few minutes she heard the telling click of dress shoes on the hallway floor and innocently took a seat in the office chair.
“Ms. Rushman, what a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” he said stepping towards her and extending his hand.
“The pleasure is mine Dr. Harvey” she said smiling and shaking his hand “Mr. Stark sent me to inspect your latest chemical weapon technology, he has been very interested in it for some time.”
“Ah, yes I was quite pleased to hear that Stark industries is back in the business of creating and distributing military grade weapons, I thought the firm had switched to developing green energy.” he raised his eyebrows looking at her for explanation.
“Well as I am sure you’re aware being a major weapons dealer is bad for public perception so Mr. Stark invested a great deal in sustainable energy to improve the company image, it's more of a public front than a business venture.” Natasha smiled as the lie rolled easily off her tongue.
“That is quite clever; I’ve got to hand it to him.” Dr. Harvey chuckled “Well would you like to see our labs?”
“I would be delighted” Natasha smirked.
