Natasha's POV
Idling around the lab, Natasha feigned admiration for the horribly destructive technology that covered every wall of the sterile white space. She ventured back to the cabinet next to the main computer frame, pretending to study the tracking devices on the wall and calling over one of Dr. Harvey’s assistants to ask about the specific details of a tracking disc that looked very realistically like a spider. While he was talking she discreetly slipped her flash drive from the mainframe of the computer and into her pocket.
As soon as she had entered the lab the audio and video feed being transmitted to the Avengers headquarters cut out, but luckily they had suspected the lab would have frequency jammers and Tony had given her a flash drive that could be accessed by Friday through any internet connection. Now all she had to do was walk out and meet Clint and they would be one step closer to finding the bioweapon they had been tracking for months. Based on the Hydra projects that had been hidden under the guise of S.H.I.E.L.D., the team believed that the bioweapon was an extension of Project Insight, basically a virus that could be genetically engineered to wipe out specific targets that were enemies of Hydra. It would be a relief when they finally set fire to this whole place and to all the far reaching branches of Hydra Natasha thought.
“Peter?” Dr. Harvey called his assistant away from Natasha “I have an interview candidate waiting upstairs. Can you attend to her while I finish things here?” he asked.
Peter nodded and exited up the stairs they came. Natasha turned to face Dr. Harvey, alarm bells going off in her head. Unfortunately, her intuition that she was in danger was not misplaced. Dr. Harvey pointed a gun squarely at her chest.
“Care to enlighten me about what is on your flash drive Ms. Romanov?” he quipped.
