Chapter 4
"Mum, can I talk to you please?" Elaina asked as she looked round Serena and Bernie's bedroom door.
"Of course you can sweetheart." Serena sat up in bed and pulled the duvet back for Elaina to get in.
"Has Mom gone for a run?" Elaina asked as she cuddled up to Serena.
"Yes she won't be long. So what do you want to talk to me about?"
"Well you know last week when we had that conversation about my sexualty?"
"Yes." Serena smiled as she kissed Elaina on the head.
"There's something I want to tell you."
"What's that?"
"Well there is someone that I am very attracted to." Elaina smiled as she looked at Serena.
"Is this someone a girl?"
"Yes. She's called Beth and she is absolutely beautiful, Mum."
"Does Beth attend your school?"
"No, she's in my football team."
"Have me and Mom seen her then?"
"No, she hasn't been in the team long. You'll see her when the season starts. She's a fantastic footballer Mum."
"So are you. You're the best."
"You have to say that you're my Mum."
"So does Beth like you?"
"We get on and we have a laugh together. But I have no idea if she's gay. I have a picture of her on my phone. Do you want to see?"
"Of course I do." Serena smiled as Elaina scrolled through her phone.
"That's me and Beth. I took it yesterday at football practice." Elaina showed Serena a photo of herself and a very pretty mixed raced girl.
"You're right she is very beautiful, darling." Serena smiled as she gave the phone back to Elena.
"She is, isn't she?"
"Who's very beautiful?" Bernie asked as she walked into the bedroom.
"A girl that I like at football."
"Show Mom the picture, darling." Elaina passed the phone to Bernie.
"Wow Elaina, she is beautiful. You look so cute together."
"Hold your horse's Mom. We are just friends at the minute."
"How much do you like her through Elaina?" Bernie asked as she sat down on the bed.
"A lot. I think about her all the time."
"Then tell her."
"I don't want to scare her Mom. Just in case she isn't interested in me like that."
"What if she is and someone gets In there before you."
"I'm scared to tell her."
"When I first met your Mum I fancied her straight away. After spending a few hours with her I knew she was the one for me." Bernie smiled as she held Serena's hand. "And then I took her and a very little Harley swimming. My God your Mum in her swimming costume blew my mind. And I knew then that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with your Mum. So I had to tell her how I felt. I couldn't risk losing her to someone else."
"There wasn't anyone else." Serena said as she squeezed Bernie's hand.
"I didn't know that though, Did I? I have spent the best 20 years of my life so far with you. I love you baby."
"I love you so much." Serena leaned over and kissed Bernie.
"I'm still here, you know." Elaina smiled as she looked at the love in her parents eyes.
"What's happening here?" Cameron asked as he and Macy walked into the bedroom.
"Come here you two." Serena said as she patted the bed. "You 3 and Harley are me and your Mom's world. You know that don't you?"
"We know that Mum." Cameron said.
"Is that the time? You 3 better go and get ready for school." Bernie said as she got off the bed. "I'm off for a shower."
"Ok love." Serena said as Elaina and Cameron left the room. "Come on baby you need to get ready too."
"Mummy."
"Yes baby."
"I love you and Momma."
"I know you do. And we love baby,." Serena smiled as she gave Macy a hug. "Come on, let's get you ready for school."
"Ok Mummy." Macy smiled as she held Serena's hand as they went into Macys bedroom.
After Serena had dropped Macy off at school she made her way to work.
"Good Morning Mrs Wolfe." Henrick said as he stepped into Serena's office.
"Morning Henrick, what can I do for you?"
"I need to take some time off. There is family business back in Sweden I need to sort out."
"I'm sorry to hear that. But what's it got to do with me?"
"Well I'm going to need you to take over as CEO while I'm gone."
"Henrick Ric is Deputy CEO. He should take over, not me."
"He doesn't want to. He said you'd do a better job than him."
"I don't care. I'm not doing it. Just being your Deputy nearly ruined my marriage. All me and Bernie did was argue. And I am not going through that again."
"Please Serena. I won't be away for that long. Just a few months."
"It doesn't matter how long you are going away. I'm not doing it. I'm sorry Henrick you'll just have to get someone else to do it."
"Fair enough. I don't know who I'll ask though. I'll have to get a temp in."
"Yes you get a temp in. Now if you'll excuse me I've got a ward round to do." Serena smiled as she picked up a load of files and left the office.
"Hi gorgeous." Serena said as she came home that evening.
"Hey baby." Bernie stopped stirring the pan and gave Serena a kiss.
"Where's the kids?"
"Upstairs getting changed."
"So I've got you all to myself for a few minutes have I." Serena smiled as she pulled Bernie closer to her and kissed her passionately.
"Mummy." Macy said as she came into the kitchen and put her arms around Serena's waist.
"Hello baby."
"Mummy look what I got today at school." Macy ran out of the kitchen and came straight back waving a certificate. "Look Mummy."
"That's awesome sweetheart. Another reading level completed. Well done. You're doing so well. I'm so proud of you."
"Cam, tell Mum your news." Bernie smiled as Cameron came into the kitchen and opened the fridge door.
"I've got a part in the school play."
"That's great. Who are you going to be playing, love."
"I'm going to be playing Alfred P Dolittle. Eliza Dolittle's Dad."
"That's amazing. You're gonna smash it." Serena beamed as she hugged Cameron. "I'm so proud of you my darling."
"Thanks."
"Me and Mom want front row seats. I don't want to miss anything."
"Oh and by the way you're not allowed to film it."
"Why not."
"Because I said so."
"Come on Cam. It's something for me and Mum to treasure." Bernie said with her hands on her hips.
"And for you both to embarrass me when I start bringing girlfriends round. Not likely." Cam said as he carried on looking in the fridge. And took out a yoghurt.
"Me and Mom would never embarrass you."
"No it's not happening." Cameron laughed as he kissed them both on the cheek before leaving the kitchen. Leaving Serena and Bernie laughing.
