Chapter 3
"Hello Darling."
"HI Mom." Elaina smiled as she got home and put her arms around Bernie.
"What are you after Madam?"
"Nothing."
"Pull the other one Elaina."
"Well actually there is something."
“I thought as much. Go on, what do you want?”
“New football kit.”
"Right. And have you asked your Mum for this football kit?"
"No I thought I would ask you first"
"And why's that because you think that I'll probably give in and just give you the money?"
"No."
"Or maybe you thought you'd ask me because you think I'm softer then your Mum."
"Maybe just a tad softer."
"Thought so. Well I'm sorry to disappoint you darling but the answer is no."
"Why."
"Because your Mum has already phoned me and told not to give into you."
"So you have to do everything Mum tells you to do."
"No I don't."
"Yes you do. We are your kids too. Grow a backbone and stand up to her for once in your life."
"How dare you speak to me like that." Bernie said angrily. "Get to your room now."
"No I won't."
"Do as your Mom tells you." Serena said as she stood at the kitchen door with her hands on her hips."NOW." Serena shouted, making Elaina jump.
"Whatever. Truth hurts doesn't it." Elaina snapped as she ran upstairs.
"What is wrong with her girl? All this attitude for a bloody football kit." Serena said as she walked up to Bernie and put her arms around her. "Are you ok?"
"I'm fine."
"She shouldn't have spoken to you like that. When she's calmed down a bit I'll go up and have a talk with her. You don't feel like you're under the thumb do you?"
"Of course I don't."
"Because I don't ever want you to feel like that. If you say no to one of the kids. I would say no too. I won't have them play us off against each other. Not ever."
"Me either."
"I love you Bernie."
"And I love you." Bernie smiled as she kissed Serena.
"Cam give Elaina a shout please,love." Serena said as she put the dinner out.
"Ok Mum. ELAINA DINNER." Cam shouted from the bottom of the stairs. Elaina came downstairs and sat down at the table. "Thank you Mum." Elaina smiled as Serena put her dinner on the table.
"You're welcome sweetheart." Serena said as her and Bernie sat down at the table.
"Macy, have you told Mummy about your spelling test?" Bernie asked.
"I forgot. Mummy I got 9 out of ten on my spelling test today."
"Well done baby." Serena reached over and hugged Macy. "You're doing so well at school."
"I like school."
"You won't when you get to our school." Elaina said. "It's rubbish. Isn't it Cam."
"It's alright." Cam said with a mouthful of food.
"I have to do well at School Elaina because I want to be a Doctor like you. Don't I Mummy?"
"Yes darling." Serena smiled proudly. "Elaina after dinner me and Mom want to chat with you."
"Ok." Boy am I in trouble now Elaina thought to herself. The rest of Dinner was eaten in relative silence. Until Harley popped round.
"Hello darling, what are you doing here?" Serena said he hugged her and Bernie. I've just dropped Emily at work."
"If you said you were coming over earlier you could have had dinner with us." Bernie said as Harley sat down.
"I've eaten. I put a stew in the slow cooker this morning. I wanted to make sure Emily had a good dinner before she went to work tonight."
"You're getting good at this lark son." Bernie said.
"I quite like cooking. I've actually come round to see if Elaina and Cam want to come round and watch the footie with me. I'll drive them back when it's finished."
"Can I?"
"Cameron can but Elaina is grounded." Bernie said.
"Am I Mum?"
"If Mom says you're grounded then your grounded."
"Why am I?"
"Do you really need to ask after the way you spoke to me earlier, young lady." Bernie said angrily as she started to clear the plates.
"What have you been doing Sis?" Harley asked.
"I haven't done anything." Elaina got up and slammed her chair down before running upstairs.
"What's up with her?"
"I wished I knew. Cameron go get ready if your going with Harley."
"Ok Mum."
"We are going to have a talk with her in a bit."
"Right then I'll leave you to it. You ready Cam?"
"Yes, see you later."
"Bye, have fun." Serena and Bernie hugged both Cam and Harley before they left.
"Come on, Macy, bedtime." Serena said as she stood up from the sofa.
"Ok. Night Momma. Love you."
"Night. I love you too, baby." Bernie smiled as she hugged Macy.
"When I come down I'll bring Madam Elaina down with me."
"Ok." Serena came down 15 minutes later followed by Elaina.
"So what do you want to talk about?" Elaina asked as she sat down on the chair.
"Your attitude for a starter. It isn't like you talking to us crap." Bernie said as she held Serena's hand.
"You used to be such a kind caring little girl. Where has she gone."
"Maybe she grew up."
"That's not an excuse. You can still be a grown up and have manners young lady. We brought you up better than that." Serena said as she stood up and sat on the coffee table in front of Elaina. "Didn't we?"
"Yes. You and Mom are the best parents a child could ever ask for."
"Then tell us why you are being like this sweetheart."
"I can't."
"Elaina if you are in some kind of trouble you can tell me and Mum." Bernie stood up too and sat on the chair arm.
"We can't help you darling if you don't tell us." Serena reached out and held Elaina's hand.
"I know what's happening to me Mum. I am just questioning myself lately."
"In what way sweetheart?"
"What I am. I mean I love football."
"You always have."
"I know that but I don't like football because I find a few of the players good looking because I don't. And I have never seen a boy that I have thought oh God he is so fit. Everyone at school now is losing their virginity and I don't want to sleep with a boy just so I can say that I'm not a virgin anymore."
"Elaina, are you trying to tell us that you like girls?".
"I think so. I do find girls more attractive than boys. I'm sorry." Elaina sobbed as she threw her arms around Serena.
"Hey it's alright you've got nothing to be sorry for."
"If you like girls or not, Me and Mum are hardly gonna judge you."Bernie said as she held Elaina's hand.
"No but them at school might. I got bullied enough at school for having 2 Mum's. They will have a field day if I do happen to be gay."
"Why didn't you tell us that you got bullied because of us."
"I didn't want to upset you. Because I love you both so much. I'm so sorry." Elaina cried as she wrapped her arm's Serena again.
"It's alright I've got you baby. Mum's got you." Serena said with tears in eyes as she held Elaina tightly.
