Preparations

I skimmed over my file one more time before packing it along with all my other essential items. I was taking a few pair of clothes, my knives, my gun and my laptop. It wasn’t much but me being there was temporary so I figured this much was fine.

“Gin are you done yet”

“Yes, I’m coming nii-chan” I called as I zipped my stuff and headed out. As soon as I stepped out I was greeted by the sight of a younger version of my brother in casual clothing waiting with his arms crossed.

“Let’s go” he says walking off.

I hurried after him trying not to be left behind and before long we were at the station. It was a private train route owned by the mafia that took us out of Yokohama which would ensure our absence wouldn’t become widespread in case of a leak.

Waiting there was Koyou-san, kyoka-kun, and a malnourished, younger looking nakajima-san in perfect silence that some could describe as peaceful while others may call awkward.

“Where’s dazai-san”

“He appears to be late, would you mind calling him atsushi-kun, I don’t have his number”

“ ah, yes ma’am” he startled at having been addressed. He quickly pulled his phone out before dialling and hitting speaker. It rang a few times before going to voicemail. He did this three more times before he began stuttering.

“Um, I’m very sorry but I’m sure he will be here soon”

“I’m sure he will” she replied.

Another 20 minutes passed before he came into sight walking up to us.

“Helloooo, sorry for the wait I saw a beautiful fountain and I just had to test whether it was drownable. Turns out it’s too shallow.” He says with a grim expression. They all rolled their eyes and began filing into the train except my idiot brother who nodded along to what he said.

Once inside we all separated into our own compartments where I decided to make up for lost sleep that I had spent studying.

After about an hour I was woken up by my brother who told me it was his stop since he was going to a separate place. I said goodbye and wished him luck before falling back asleep.

I was woken up again however this time by Koyou-san

“Sweetheart it’s time to get off”

I nodded groggily before getting up and gathering my things . I pulled out a paper from my bag and began Googling the directions to where I was staying as I stepped off the train before comparing with the others (except dazai-San who seemed to have disappeared as usual). It turns out we were all in different areas with random distances between to prevent any sort of connection between us being discovered. I was quite saddened by this despite having guessed this beforehand. I guess I am going to be all alone in a unknown area.

Dazai would be gone for quite some time. Normally this would annoy him enough to try to get out of doing it however for this particular mission he was quite excited. Excited enough to tirelessly sit at kunikidas laptop for hours trying to hack into UA’s database. He had to give it to them they sure did value privacy. Of course that would never be enough to stop dazai.

There was a week left until the entrance exam and the only part of preparing for it he had done was looking the part. It was annoying but at least he was still taller than the annoying chibi.

The way they had to do it was also annoying.
First he had to leave the ada so that his ability was slightly weaker. Than the age changing ability person had to join the Ada so that’s hers would be a bit stronger. And then they had to get someone with an ability to slightly amplify others ability to use it on her and then it was just a fight of whose was stronger. It was clearly hers with all the help she got.

Anyways after hours of working on it he finally got in. He slowly skimmed through it for information to be learnt but there was nothing. It was all basic information that even a normal civilian could get their hands on.

So much for privacy.

His burst of motivation now gone he flopped onto the floor and promptly fell asleep.

————————————

The apartment she was staying at was certainly better than where she lived previously with atsushi-kun though she expected nothing less from the port mafia.

‘I should check to see if I need to buy anything’ she thought to herself before making her way to the kitchen.
The fridge was empty.
The cupboards were empty.
The drawers were empty.
There were not pots or pans.
There was no cutlery.

Sighing she picked up my phone before locating the closest shopping centre. It was annoying and definitely done on purpose but she had no choice but to shop for them herself.

She walked to the bus stop and began observing her surroundings.

‘There seems to be quite a few mutant types. How strange although I seem to be the only one thinking that so to blend in I should not question things too much’

Before long her bus arrived and she got on. It was practically empty so she took a seat near the back on her own.

After about two stops kids began filing in filling every seat available. She happened to have the misfortune of having someone sit next to her.

“Tch, extra”

She slowly turned her head so that she was directly staring at the blonde before silently staring into his soul.

“What the hell do you think your looking at huh extra”

She continued to stare not even flinching when sparks began flying from the palm of his hands.

After a few minutes of murderous eye contact the Pomeranian look alike turned away.

“Tch” He scoffed again before facing the other direction.

Other than that interaction the ride was spent in silence.

Her stop was before him so she got up and silently walked off not sparing a glance back.

She walked into the closest cutlery store and picked up the cheapest set of pots and pans. Before heading to the other side of the shop and picking a singular knife, fork, bowl, plate, and spoon.

She was not being cheap she was being practical. Why would she be using multiple at once if she was on her own. And with that she payed and left with her days shopping done in the span of ten minutes.

She started walking back to the bus stop she came from before stopping in front of a food store.

‘She might as well eat now instead of having to waste more time later.’

Inside the shop she walked up to the counter and ordered katsudon before sitting at a booth.

It was sparsely decorated with very few customers. There were five booths counting hers and three were occupied though mostly by people on their own like her.

However one of the booths caught her eyes. It was a guy and girl seemingly on a date. The guy had deep brown hair and green eyes. But it was the girl that she was focused on. She was in her early thirties with dark purple hair. She looked about 174cm(5’9) from what she could tell and wore glasses. Although she couldn’t see her face she was certain that this was the pro hero midnight who taught at UA. Their profiles matched perfectly.

It’d be best to avoid her.

She waited for her food before anxiously grabbing it and walking out.

She arrived at the bus stop in seconds and decided to sit there and eat. She got quite a few wary glances but she ignored them.

Once she was done she threw her rubbish in the bin and waited for another 7 minutes before the bus arrived.

She was the only one there so she didn’t have much difficulty getting on.

She was quite tired from this trip and planned to sleep as soon as she got home. ‘Studying was a waste of time anyways.’ She thought as she sat down but was interrupted by a screeching voice

“Hah, you again you damn extra, are you following me”

It was the rude child from before. She didn’t bother turning this time and just ignored him as she normally did with dazai San.

She got off at her stop still ignoring the screaming kid.

‘Honestly they should make adult pacifiers’ she thought before relishing the silence as the bus drove off with the blonde.

The trip to the apartment was short and the time she spent awake there was even shorter as she had dozed off on her bed with her shopping still in its bags in the kitchen.

With only a few days until the exam you could say this was quite careless but not unlike her.
