Holding on Books and Hands

Blake was staying at Yang's home since she really didn't have anywhere else to go. Tai has been really nice to her and it did make her feel better. Though...

"Yang! You shouldn't do that! Didn't the doctor tell you to not do heavy tasks?!" Ruby scorns. Yang let out a groan.

"Ruuubyyyyy ple-."

"Nope!" Ruby interrupts. Yang's eye twitched in irritation. She let out a sigh.

"Fine. Take this then." Yang then gave Ruby the box, to which she fell foward due to how heavy it was. "WAH!" Ruby exclaimed. Making Yang laugh. It did make Blake giggle. Just seeing the siblings.

Yang and Ruby messing with each other.

"You're my little bitty baby sisterrrr!" Yang pulls Ruby's cheeks as she complained and tried to get Yang back. Yang absolutely loved teasing.

"Blake?"

Blake looked over her shoulder, seeing Tai holding a sandwich. He was handing one to Blake.

"I didn't know what you like on it so I figured maybe you'd like tuna." Blake's eyes sparkled. Till she heard gagging noises in the background.

"It smells! Dadddd!" Ruby complained about the tuna. Tai chuckles. Blake was eating the sandwich. "Thank you." Blake said. Tai nods before going to the kitchen.

Blake was about to take another bite till she remembered a memory.

"Adam..." Blake blinks. Adam holds out a can of tuna.

"It's gross but, you seem to really like it. Hope this makes you happy." Adam smiles, to which Blake did same.

"Thank you! This means a lot to me!" Blake hugs Adam.

Poke-

"O-Ow wha-" A book was poking her in the cheek. Blake turn her head, seeing Yang. "Yang." Blake pushed the book down. Curious what Yang wanted.

"Sooo uh... I didn't know what you liked" She says as she's looking through the books she found. "But I was hoping maybe it would make you happy if I read one to you. Or we can read it together."

"Really? Are you gonna fall asleep?" Blake seem doubtful. Yang frowns.

"I won't."

Blake raised an eyebrow. Yang sighed. "I'll try my best! I'll prove you wrong." Yang took it as a challenge, making Blake roll her eyes.

"Get over here." Blake grabs a book from Yang's hands. Yang leaned over, up against Blake. Her chin was resting on her shoulder.

"This author is a Faunus, I really love this author. He makes really good romance novels! You'd might like a book of his called Into Light, it's about a Faunus who fell in a love with a dragon lady. Like werewolf but, dragon."

Yang hasn't seen Blake look this excited. It did warm Yang's heart up. It's nice to see the girl be herself.

"Anyways. Since I doubt you'd read, I'll explain the scenes." Blake then opened the book. Flipping some pages.

"A woman was wandering around in the world of fanasty... where things like unicorns exist and flying monkeys..."

Yang found herself looking at Blake. Seeing just how happy Blake looked. She must have not gotten to chat with people about stories. She was rambling on and on about the book.

"And so... she meets a guy who saves her from the griffins and she didn't like him all that much but you know what happens next? She ends up falling in love with him! It's such a good slow burn angst book!" Blake giggles in happiness to herself.

Yang chuckles. "Does it? Hm, any 18+ ones?"

"Y-Yang!" Blake exclaimed, making Yang laugh. "You know what- yes. There are ones. Would you rather read that?" Blake smirks. Yang turned pink.

"N-no I'm good!" Yang waved her hands in panic. Blake snickers. She looks back at the book. Explaining some more. Yang rest her hands. Again, she's staring at Blake.

Damn. Since when did Blake look this cute? Her cat like nose was really cute... her cheeks too. Those cat ears. Her beautiful gold eye- wait.

Yang snaps out of her thoughts. Just what on earth was she thinking?! God don't be weird... Yang cursed at herself in her mind. But, she's not wrong.

Blake is a beautiful woman. Badass too. But beautiful. Her curly hair was really cute. Blake is just cute!

Unconsciously, she touches Blake's hair. Making Blake pause. She turns her head towards Yang. Confused but curious what Yang was doing. Her eyes are sharp too. The cat eye and purple eye shadow looked good on Blake.

"Yang...? Is... something wrong?"

Yang snaps back to reality. Realizing that Blake was blushing a bit. Yang immediately yanked her hands back, blushing profusely.

"A-Ah my bad! Sorry! I don't know what came over me."

"How long have you been staring at me?"

"U-Uh."

"What did I say earlier?"

"Well..."

"Yang..."

"Ah-Ahem! Uh- Oh look at the time! I- I have things to do!" Yang was about to get up till Blake held her shoulder. Keeping where she was.

Yang made eye contact with Blake, who had a look of expectation for answers. Yang sighed. "Okay. I was staring at you. But it's not my fault you're so beautiful." Yang smirks.

Blake's cheeks turned pink. "W-What...?" Blake whispered. Oh. She was ready for that at all. Yang caught Blake off guard.

"W-Well. I'm not lying." Yang laughs nervously. This was not the plan. She didn't mean to make Blake so embarrassed. She feels like an idiot.

"Yang- uhm. Thank you." Blake smiles a bit. Looking back at the book. Her cheeks were still pink. But Yang could tell that Blake was happy.

"So I assume you aren't interested in the book anymore?" Blake closes the book. Yang sighs.

"Yeah. I'm sorry. I tried." Yang scratched the back of her head.

"It's okay. Books isn't for everyone." Blake smiles. Yang saw her chance to make a pun.

"Honestly When I think about books, I touch my shelf." Yang had a smirk on her face. Before she couldn't hold it in and started laughing.

"Get out." It didn't seem like Blake was pleased with that.

"Wh- Wait this is my hous-"

"Out."

"Blake you can't just kick me out!"

"That pun was awful!"

"Aww don't be so mean!" Yang frowns. The look did make Blake giggle.

"God you are so weird."

"Weird and sexy~"

"I'm going to kick you."

"I dare y- OW-"

Weiss was chatting with Ruby till she saw Ruby staring at the couch where Yang and Blake was.

"I bet you 10 dollars Yang will come out gay later." Ruby said.

"What." Weiss blinked.

Blake just out of the shower, currently rubbing her hair with a towel. She enters Yang's room to see her struggling. Yang didn't have her shirt on but a bra.

Blake stared at Yang from the doorway.

Abs. Muscles. Holy shit. Also. There was a nasty large bruise on her back. It looked painful.

"Hm? Ah Blake! How was the shower?" Yang turned around, holding something in her hand.

"Good. I replaced my bandages with fresh ones." Blake answered as she pulls the towel off her head. Making her ears plop out standing up. She stares at Yang.

"What are you trying to do?"

"I'm trying to apply medicine on my back. It's harder then I thought. My prosthetic isn't that flexible and it hurts to stretch like this." Yang sighs.

"Maybe... I could help you?" Blake volunteered. Yang smiles.

"That would be great, thank you Blake." Yang hands Blake the bottle of medicine cream. She had Yang sit down on her bed. Blake joins, sitting behind. She started to apply the cream.

"This looks like it hurts. How did you even survive the fall?" Blake questioned. Yang shrugs.

"Dunno. Maybe my aura saved me?"

"...maybe." Blake mumbles. She continued doing what she was. There was a comforting silence. Well...

Blake stares at Yang's bruise.

"GAH!" Yang shouted when she crashed into the ice. It was only for a split second but Blake heard Yang's scream. She felt the impact. She felt the ice break. Yang's aura broke. It scared Blake.

"Blake?"

Blake snaps back to reality. She finishes applying medicine before closing the bottle. "Sorry. I was thinking."

"Thinking bout what?" Yang turns around. Only to get her own shirt thrown at her face.

"Stuff."

Yang puts on the shirt. Still not satisfied with the response. She did notice Blake looked... a bit uncomfortable.

"I'll be okay Blake."

"I know you will. You're made out of diamond I swear to god." Blake spoke. Yang smirks at Blake. "So you're calling me beautiful?"

"And if I am?" Blake responded. Yang pauses. "What? Cat got your tongue?" Yang didn't think this through. She scratches her head as she looks away.

"Uh... thank you."

Blake didn't expect that kind of reaction. Was Yang awkward with this kind of stuff? She loves flirting though! Is... is Yang not used to receiving compliments?

Yang was always protecting people and giving love to people she really cares about. But... has anyone ever returned it to Yang?

"Yang I- I can't remember if I ever told you this but. Thank you. You saved me back there. Without you, I would've died." Blake smiles a bit. Yang looks at Blake, soon smiling before giving a thumbs up.

"Of course. I'm just glad we're both okay. Plus now we know there's a grimm that distrups Faunus's senses."

"Yeah..."

"Hm?" Yang tilted her head at Blake's response.

"Nothing. It's just. Grimms are getting stronger out there. They are getting smarter. What... what if it gets to the point we won't be able to beat them anymore?" Blake looks out the window.

"Well... we'd just have to beat them first before that happens." Yang said.

"Yeah. Still..."

"Blake. It'll be okay. Grimms been around for years. It's expected that this kind of stuff would happen." Yang stood up to pat Blake on the head before she went to go grab her scroll to play games on her bed.

"What game is that?"

"It's a fighting game. Do you wanna try it out?" Yang offered. Blake nods. Curious why Ruby and Yang plays it so much. Yang gives her the scroll. She tried to play it.

"You gotta do the upper cut punch! Then the kick! Press that!"

"I- I'm trying!"

"Blake you're dying!"

"Uwah! What do I do?!"

"Heal yourself!"

"How?!"

—GAME OVER—

Blake sighed. Looking irritated. "This game sucks."

"I'll have to teach you how to play next time. I can't let you miss on this masterpiece." Yang smiles.

"That sounds fun. I don't mind trying it out again with you Yang."

With you Yang. Yang feels her heart pounding. It's been like this all day. Why is she so nervous?

It's probably because Yang is worried Blake might beat her in a game one day. Yeah that's what it is. Little to Yang's knowledge, Blake was feeling the same thing. Her heart was all fluttery and warm.

Unlike Yang, Blake was now questioning her love life.

Would the world accept a gay faunus...? Probably not. Blake will have to keep that to herself. For her and Yang's safety.
