Chapter 12
Minji was nervous as she walked hand in hand with Dong. Her other free hand held a small bear plush and a balloon. She didn’t know exactly anything that would happen the second she walked into the room to see her best friend, but she was hoping it was good.
The bunny stopped just before the room, causing Dong to come to an abrupt stop as well. She couldn’t help but feel a pit forming in her stomach, afraid of what was going to happen when she crossed the barrier of the door.
“Are you okay?” Dong frowned.
“I’m scared… And I don’t know of what…” The bunny whispered.
“Reality… You’re scared that it’s all going to change… Right?” Dong whispered, watching her nod her head. “I had the same thing with Siyeon… When she had her pup… I thought everything was going to change… And it did… but I got to know this wonderful little girl and I still get to see her grow up,” She smiled. “And now… It’s going to take a lot of adjusting… But you’re her best friend and you’re going to watch that kid grow up too…” She whispered.
Minji let out a breath before hugging Dong, resting her head on her girlfriend’s shoulder. She felt comforted by her words and really did feel like everything was changing and never going to be the same ever again.
The bunny peeked around the corner, seeing her best friend sitting up in the bed on her phone while Yubin was asleep in the chair. She saw the little incubator with a little bundle in it and immediately felt her stomach drop again. She could hear the little voice in her head screaming at her to turn around and leave, but then she felt a hand on her back, allowing her to feel just a little stable.
“Kitty?” Minji whispered.
Bora looked up at the mention of her nickname, smiling when she saw the bunny in the doorway.
“You came…” Bora gave her a tired smile, reaching for the hybrid.
Minji made her way over, careful not to wake the other human or the tiny sleeping baby. She went around, immediately hugging her best friend.
“How are you feeling?” Minji asked.
“Exhausted… Smooth delivery… Just… Exhausting,” She sighed.
“Too tired to meet someone?” The bunny smirked.
“Bunny, I have no makeup on, I’m… Beyond tired… Who is it?” She whispered.
“You know that human I was telling you…” Minji trailed off, watching the kitten’s ears perk up. “Dong-ah…?” Minji softly called, allowing the human to step in. “This is… Bora, or… As I keep saying… kitty,” She chuckled. “Bora, this is Dong,” She introduced.
“Nice to meet you,” Dong smiled.
“Nice to meet you as well… Wish it were on better terms,” Bora chuckled. “My wife is asleep, but her name is Yubin,” She smiled before gesturing to the sleeping human next to her. “She should wake up soon,” She sighed.
The couple stayed for a bit, chatting quietly until the little kitten next to them started to let out tiny cries, causing everyone to fall quiet. Minji glanced over at the little incubator, seeing a little movement, causing her to feel frozen.
“Bunny, have you ever held a baby?” Bora whispered.
“No… I was the youngest in my litter…” Minji answered quietly.
Bora nodded her head before carefully getting out of bed, and Minji got out of her way. She didn’t know if she would’ve been in the way, but she didn’t know. She stood closer to Dong, watching her best friend take the little bundle out of the incubator and back to the bed.
“You know… You can come closer,” Bora smiled.
Minji shuffled closer, almost afraid of the little mewing bundle in her arms. She peeked over, seeing the cute, little, fuzz-covered kitten in Bora’s arms. She couldn’t help but smile, happy that the kitten had essentially stopped mewing the second Bora picked it up.
“What’s its name?” Minji asked.
“Nagyung,” Bora answered while moving the blanket away from her kitten’s face. “She’s cute right?” She smiled.
“Her ears are the cutest part,” Minji cooed while gently touching the little round ears on the top of the kitten’s head. “They’ll grow like yours?” She asked quietly.
“Yeah, mine were round and tiny as a baby,” Bora chuckled. “Her’s will look like mine when she’s older,” She smiled. “Do… You want to try holding her?” She asked.
“I… I’ve never held a baby before…” Minji frowned.
“Sit, I’ll teach you,” Bora moved over a bit, watching her best friend sit in front of her on the bed.
Dong watched the two, happy that Minji was stepping out of her comfort zone and going through everything. She knew that they hadn’t been going out very long, but watching Minji hold the little kitten in her arms sparked something in her chest that really made her want to stay with the bunny forever.
“Like this?” Minji whispered while adjusting her arms.
“Just like that,” Bora chuckled.
“Oh, we have company…”
Everyone looked over at Yubin, letting out small chuckles.
“Minji’s girlfriend is here,” Bora pointed.
“Oh…” Yubin quickly stood up, walked over, and extended her hand. “Yubin,” She introduced.
“Dong, nice to meet you,” Dong chuckled.
“Sorry I was asleep, just… a lot these past few days,” Yubin explained quietly.
“Don’t worry about it. Not judging at all… You guys are parents now… Get all the sleep you can,” Dong smiled.
“So… You’re dating bunny?” Yubin chuckled.
“Yeah, we’ve been dating a few months now,” Dong smiled. “It’s been really great,” She added.
“That’s good to hear… Minji’s a great person, and just… Good. She deserves an amazing person, so I hope you’re that for her,” Yubin sighed before looking at the woman next to her. “If not Bora just might kill you,” She chuckled. “And I’m not kidding, the last person Minji dated, I had to literally pull Bora off her before the charges were pressed…” She sighed.
Dong’s eyes widened at the thought of the little kitten in front of them physically harming someone that hurt the much larger bunny in front of her. It didn’t surprise her too much, but it did enough.
