Chapter 8

Minji watched as Bora screeched, pulling at her ears.

“What do you mean?!” She whined.

“I mean, it was fine.” Minji shrugged. “And that restaurant sucks by the way,” She pointed.

“I never said it was good food,” Bora chuckled. “But did you at least get her number? Did you talk to her? What was she? A puppy? A kitten? Another bunny?” She wiggled her eyebrows at the last part, watching Minji shake her head.

“A human,” She started. “I got her number… But… I told her not to really expect much from me,” She shrugged her shoulders, looking down at her phone. She had an unanswered text from Dong, a meme that made her laugh for a second but it didn’t require an answer.

“Well, it’s a start,” Bora muttered.

Minji eyed the kitten, noticing her aloof manner more so now than ever. She eyed her up and down, watching her adjust several times on the couch before finally settling in an odd position.

“What’s wrong with you?” The bunny frowned.

“Hm?” Bora glanced over at the bunny, seeing her nose twitch. “What?”

“I asked what’s wrong with you, you’re acting strange…” Minji frowned.

“I’m normal, what are you referring to?” The kitten scoffed, tail thumping slightly.

“You were clingy the second I walked through the door, asked me a million questions, couldn’t find a comfy spot on the couch for a bit and now your tail is thumping. You are never like this… Is your heat close?” The bunny was curious. Bora was never this moody.

“No,” The kitten answered.

“Then what is it?” Minji frowned.

“I… I’m pregnant…” The kitten mumbled.

Minji was in pure shock. She knew it was bound to happen eventually since they were married, but she didn’t think it would happen so soon.

“Do you know what it is yet?” The bunny frowned.

“Not for another month… When the baby starts showing signs of being a hybrid then we’ll know when I’m due…” She shrugged. “But right now no…” she sighed.

“Gotcha…” Minji whispered.

“I know you aren’t happy… But… You’re my best friend… And I don’t think I can handle you not liking me right now…” Bora whispered.

“I’m not going to hate you just because you and Yubin are starting a family…” Minji frowned, immediately moving to sit next to her best friend. “Why would you think that?” She asked.

“Because what if I have a human baby? Are you going to hate my child?” The kitten was near tears, afraid of the bunny’s answer.

Minji pulled her into a tight embrace, rubbing her back while the kitten cried into her shoulder.

“No matter what happens… kitten or human, I’m not going to hate it or you… You’re my kitty…” Minji frowned, pulling away from the kitten. “You’re always my kitty and that’s never going to change.” She rested her forehead against Bora’s, hearing the purring.

“You’re my bunny too,” Bora whispered.

It was an odd time. When Minji got home, she had no idea what to do. She really didn’t understand why her mind was foggy, but it was probably because of the sudden news drop.

She looked down at her phone, seeing the unanswered text from Dong and decided to at least send a laughing emoji to be polite. She really didn’t know what to do. She didn’t have other friends that she could ask… Bora was out of the question clearly and she was certain Yoohyeon never had kids or had a friend that had kids.

Her last resort was either the young intern she befriended at work or Dong.

She was incredibly certain the intern didn’t have any friends with this issue since she said she was raised by humans.

So Dong it was.

She hesitated when she hit call, hearing the ringing before it picked up. It was silent, a few muffled before she heard it.

“Hi..?” Dong answered.

“Hi… uh… I… I was wondering if you can chat… I… I don’t really have someone to talk to about this and I need some advice…” Minji sighed.

“Oh, yeah, sure,” Dong answered. “Hmmm… do you want to meet face to face or phone call is fine?” She asked.

“I don’t know… I feel like maybe face to face…” Minji frowned.

“Alright, text me a place and I’ll tell you a time.”

Minji picked a place relatively close, a good enough walking distance from her place but far enough that the human wouldn’t get threatened by other hybrids.

She sat in the small restaurant, scrolling through her phone when she heard the plastic chair scooting across the laminate tile below it. She glanced up and saw Dong standing in front of her, giving her a small smile.

“So what’s up?” She asked while sitting down.

“I don’t know…” Minji sighed. “My best friend just told me she’s pregnant and I feel as if my entire mind is foggy and I want to be angry but I’m so happy for
her at the same time… but she was terrified to tell me…” she groaned.

Dong watched the bunny in front of her, frowning at the entire ordeal.

“Well… what’s the situation with the best friend?” Dong asked.

“What do you mean?” Minji frowned.

“Like… Is she in a good position to have a kid…? Father in the picture… or mother, I don’t know anything…”

“Her wife is in the picture, she’s very well off and in a good state to have the kid… But I’m still like this…” Minji frowned.

“Is she just a best friend to you?” Dong asked.

“I mean… We’ve done things… together…”

“In the past?”

“More like last month,” Minji chuckled. “It’s complicated to explain. But point is, she’s my best friend. And I am happy for her… But I can’t help but be so angry at the same time…” She sighed.

“Maybe you have some strong feelings against it. Is her wife human?”

Minji stayed silent, looking down at the table.

“I’ll take that as a yes… After what you told me the other night, maybe you’re upset at that. You’re happy your best friend is starting her life and is creating a family, but you can’t grasp your head around the fact that it’s with a human.”

Minji felt the answer was right. It felt right. But she hated it.

“Maybe…” Minji whispered. “I trust her… But… it took until recently to do that…” She frowned. “And… I still doubt her… a lot…” She whispered.

“Then that could be why. You just dislike the wife.” Dong shrugged her shoulders, watching the bunny slump in the seat in front of her. “Which could also be why you reached out to me.”

“I reached out to you because my best friend was out of the question and I doubt Yoohyeon has any friends that had a kid.” Minji quickly explained.

“Siyeon.” Dong whispered, watching the bunny look up. “Siyeon has a kid. Yoohyeon… Yoohyeon knew about the kid and had a problem too. She reached out to me with her issues too,” She chuckled.

“Really?” The bunny whispered.

“Yeah, Yoohyeon was worried about her wanting to date Siyeon because she’s a divorcee. And that she wasn’t sure about anything. And it made her angry that Siyeon could barely see the kid.”

Minji was floored that Yoohyeon was already this adamant about something she didn’t even have a say in. And a little surprised that the pup had a similar stance…

“I should text her how that date went…” Dong muttered while looking at her phone.

“Date?” Minji asked.

“Yooh went on a date with Siyeon. I told her to go for it,” She laughed. “I knew Siyeon liked her and Yooh liked Siyeon,” She continued.

Minji nodded her head, looking down at the table. She really didn’t know what to do.

“I know you’re anti human… but… I don’t know why… And honestly… I don’t like humans very much either…” Dong whispered.

“You’re a human.”

“Have you seen the human race lately? I’d rather die than keep being human,” Dong sighed. “But I want to say that some of us aren’t like that. Siyeon isn’t like that. Your best friend’s wife probably isn’t like that… And I know for certain I’m not like that. Would be a shame for you to lose out on good friendships because of your predisposition of humans.” She frowned.

“And how do I know?” The bunny glared.

“You’ll just have to find out.”
