Chapter 1
"Kaveh! Tighnari!" Kuni called out to her co-workers. The two turned, smiling at him. "Oh. Hello, Kuni. How are you?" Tighnari inquired. Kuni just nodded. "I'm fine. I just got back from Inazuma. I went to visit my moms. They were doing well." Kaveh gave the ravenette a teasing smile. "I trust that you also saw that childhood friend and all time crush of yours. What was his name again? Shikanoin Heizou, was it?" Kuni's cheeks flushed as she looked away. "Unfortunately, I wasn't able to come see him as Kazuha said he wasn't in Inazuma. I heard from her that Heizou went to solve a case in the neighbouring country. Though she never specified which country," Kuni said, pressing the key on the elevator. Kaveh smiled sincerely. "You sound fond of him." "I am." Tighnari then showed the phone to her co-workers. "I forgot to mention but we have a new detective joining our agency. Miss Nahida mentioned it last night in the group chat." Kaveh smiled. "Quite interesting. It's been a while since we last had a recruit." As the elevator doors opened, the three walked out. And in an instant, Kaveh saw Alhaitham standing by the coffee cart. "Haiyi! Make some for me, too!" she called to him as she ran towards him. Cyno then approached Tighnari, planting a kiss on her cheek. "Be careful at work today." Tighnari giggled. "You too, Chief."
"You can wait here first, Mr. Shikanoin. I've asked someone to come to my office to help you out." Heizou nodded. Soon, there was a knock on the door. "Who is it?" "It's me, Auntie Nahi." Nahida smiled. "Ah, yes. Come in." The door opened and in walked a pretty ravenette lady with indigo eyes. "Mr. Shikanoin, meet Ms. Raiden Kunikuzushi. She's one of my secretaries. She will show you to your office." Heizou's eyes widened. "Kuzu?" Kuni's eyes widened. "Hei?" Heizou chuckled. "Oh my god, it is you! You work in Sumeru now?" Kuni nodded. "I went to visit home just last week! Kazuha said you went to a neighboring country to work!" Heizou chuckled. "I did. I was in Liyue last week but I got transferred here." Nahida cleared her throat. "So, you two know each other?" Kuni nodded. "Yes, Auntie. He's my childhood friend." Nahida smiled. "Ah. I see. Well, you may go now." Kuni nodded, signaling to Heizou to come and follow her.
"I want you to meet some of my colleagues first. They're my upperclassmen." Heizou nodded as he followed Kuni into a hallway. They walked in on a door, revealing 3 offices. "This is the secretaries' offices. There are 3 secretaries. Me, Tighnari, and Kaveh. Kaveh is in charge of approving or rejecting applications; funding, movement, planning, and others. Tighnari works on the budgeting of money. She's more like a treasurer rather than a secretary. And then, there's me! I work in the assisting Auntie Nahi. I take care of schedules and meetings for Auntie. Tighnari's husband, Cyno, is the Chief Head of the Investigation Department. On the other hand, Kaveh's roommate, Alhaitham, works in the Forensics Department as the Chief Head. Then, there's Candace Deshret. She's the Chief Head to the Security Department. And then, there's her wife, Dehya, who works as the Chief Head of the Forces Department. Dori is Kaveh's assistant. Collei, Nilou's girlfriend, is Tighnari's assistant. My assistant is Layla. Now that one is Nari's office. The one in the middle is Kaveh's, and that one at the other side is mine." She opened a door, revealing a small guest space. On the couch sat Tighnari and Kaveh. Tighnari smiled when she saw Kuni walk in. "Kuni!" Kuni nodded. "Hey, Nari. Hey, Kaveh. This is our new transferee. Meet Shikanoin Heizou." Kaveh's eyes shone as she smiled at the man. "Oh! Hello! You must be Hei! We've heard so much about you from Kuni!" This earned a blush from the ravenette before she groaned. "Shut up, Kaveh. Anyways, Heizou, come now, I'll take you to the laboratory."
When they got to the laboratory, they saw Alhaitham standing on the side. "Alhaitham, can we have a tour of the laboratory?" Alhaitham nodded. "Sure. Come on in," Alhaitham said, opening the door for the two. "So, this is the laboratory. In here, we check and preserve all evidences found in the crime scene. This room right here is the autopsy room. We check the bodies for injuries and possible cause of deaths. The room next door is where we check the body for evidences. Semen, saliva, blood, fingerprints, sweat, and others. Whatever we find in the body will be checked over in the room across. We also have doctors here. Their names are Nilou and Faruzan. They're very smart and good at their jobs. There are other parts of the laboratory that are being used currently so I can't take you there. But come back next time if you want to see them." Kuni nodded. "Right. Thank you, Alhaitham." She then turned to Heizou. "Let's go to the assistants' offices."
They saw Collei and Dori talking in front of the assistants' offices. "Collei! Dori!" The two turned to see Kuni running up to them, a maroon-haired man behind her. "Ms. Raiden! How may we help?" Collei asked with a smile. "I wanna ask if you can tour us in the assistants' office. This here is our newest transferee. His name is Shikanoin Heizou." Collei nodded. "Oh. Okay. Please follow us Ms. Raiden, Mr. Shikanoin." The 4 of them walked into the office. "This is my office. I work as Mrs. Minci's assistant. Dori over here works as Ms. Ferdowsian's assistant. Layla is Ms. Raiden's assistant. But first and foremost, she is Madam Faruzan's girlfriend. Although I think she's currently busy." Kuni nodded. "Layla is really good at her job. She finishes tasks very quickly." Kuni then opened the door to Layla's office, revealing a young lady in blue, sleeping on her desk. "Anyways, we're done here. Let's head to the training room. I'll show you where Dehya trains."
Dehya smiled as Kuni walked in. "Kuni!" she called. Kuni waved to her. "Hey, Dehya. This is Shikanoin Heizou. He is the new transferee." Dehya's eyes widened. "Hey! We haven't had a new transferee in a while! The last recruit we had was Collei and Layla. And that was 5 years ago. This will certainly be interesting. What team is he in?" "He's in Cyno's department." "Oh. Maybe you should warn him about his leader." "Nah. I heard from Auntie that he's going to be Cyno's deputy detective." Dehya then turned to Heizou. "Dehya Deshret. Nice to meet you." Heizou smiled. "Shikanoin Heizou. It's a pleasure." Dehya smiled. Kuni then nodded as she pulled up her sleeve to check her watch. "Oh. It's almost time for me to get back to work. Come on, Heizou. I'll take you to Cyno."
Cyno smirked as he saw Kuni walk around the corner, followed by the maroon haired man. "It's about time you showed up, Kuni." Kuni only rolled her eyes. "Oh, shut up." She then turned to Heizou. "This is Cyno Minci. You will be helping him in investigations and interviews while you are here. Now, I'll have to leave because I have a lot of paperwork to do and schedules to fix." As she turned to leave, Heizou grabbed a hold of her hand. She turned around to see him smiling. "It's nice seeing you again, Kuni." Kuni's cheeks flushed before she gave him a small smile. "It was seeing you again, too, Heizou."
