The girl with a voice.
Lena Luthor wasn’t like people thought she would be like. They thought she’d be cold, cruel and rude. Instead, she was reserved and quiet but sweet and caring. Her charisma and charm made it evident that she was a popular student. The only real problem with Lena Luthor is she ran with the wrong crowd. Her friends were popular for being deceiving and good looking, while Lena was popular for being good looking and having a big heart. She didn't have the heart to speak out when her friends Gillian and Trinity did something rude to people, mostly because she knew her friends could use their status and turn any fights they have with Lena, into it about her being a Luthor. Lena always managed to get her friends to stand down, but it never actually truly stopped.
The bus pulled up to Riverbanks High School. Students poured out like a flock of birds. Barry and Kara walked out of the bus together, where Kara met up with Alex.
"Hey Kara, I'm going to head to geometry-" she stopped when she saw Barry. She shot him a suspicious look. Typically, nobody talked to Kara unless it was to bully her, therefore Alex became very overprotective at whoever tried to befriend her younger sister. Even if they were only a year apart.
"Hi, I'm Barry, Barry Allen" Barry said with enthusiasm, putting his hand out to shake.
"Hi Barry, I'm Alex, Kara's sister" Alex replied, shaking his hand and giving him an overprotective glare. Kara cleared her throat.
"Alex, don't turn into Jason" she whispered. Alex rolled her eyes, releasing Barry's hand.
"I'll see you in English" Alex said to her. Kara nodded as she watched Alex shoot another glare at Barry before heading inside. Kara chuckled nervously.
"Sorry about her, she's overprotective" Kara said to him. Barry let out a soft laugh and shook his head.
"No worries, you should see my best friend with his sister. Your sister is just trying to look out for you. if my brother were here in highschool, I'd be the same way" Barry replied,
"How old is your brother?" Kara asked.
"He's 12. His name is Arlington. Like Arlington Texas, we call him Arley." Barry replied.
"Cool" Kara replied. They began to walk into the school, and the moment they step foot into the building, Kendall Green shoves Kara against a locker.
"Freak show talking to weirdo boy huh?" He said as he high fived Riley. Kara glared at him. Barry growled and tried to attack Kendall but his friends grabbed him and held him back.
"Aw are you going to cry?" Kendall asked, his girlfriend Trinity Maxwell walked over and laughed.
"Good one babe" she told him as she pressed her lips onto his. Kara gagged. She really did not want to see her bullies eat each others faces off right now.
"Oh yeah, hilarious" Kara told them with a sarcastic tone. Trinity growled. She went over and shoved Kara against the locker again. She was about to punch her in the face when she heard somebody talk.
"Trinity, stop, what are you doing?" Asked a voice, it was a voice that was mixed between anger and concern.
"Not right now L, I need to teach this fucking freak not to talk to me or my baby like that" Trinity growled as she held up a fist to Kara's face. Kara knew she couldn't get hurt if Trinity punched her. She knew Trinity would actually break her fist.
"If you hurt her Trinity, I'll report you and Kendall to Mr. Shoden" Said the voice Mr. Shoden was the schools violence chief, he deals with any means of violence, the tone was more threatening now, Trinity lowered her fist and gritted her teeth. Turning her head away and facing the voice.
"What's the fuck is your issue, Lena? I thought you were supposed to be one of us. Not like this freakshow over here" Trinity said, pointing a thumb back at Kara. Kara felt tears drip down her face. This is what she dealt with everyday, since she was thirteen.
"I said leave her alone" Lena growled between her teeth. She didn't understand why she felt so protective over Kara, she just knew she heard rumors or stories about the girl and the person her supposed friend was not a freak show at all. Just someone who was misunderstood.
Trinity rolled her eyes and released Kara, walking over to make out with her boyfriend. Lena walked over to check if she was okay.
"Hey, I'm sorry about them. They're idiots. I promise they won't mess with you again" She said. Kara nodded. She turned to see Barry was let go too. He mouthed if she was okay and she nodded.
"Aren't you all supposed to be in class?" Said a teacher. The students all scrambled away as soon as the teacher spoke. "Except you, Miss. Danvers. Report to the principal's office please" he told her. Trinity and her friends snickered as they left.
Kara rolled her eyes and went into the principal's office.
"Kara, sit" He said. Kara sat down. "Now, I heard you were harassing some lower classmen today. Mocking them"
Kara looked shocked, she was confused.
"Principal Rockwell, I swear I didn't" she replied. Principal Rockwell slammed his fist on the desk.
"Bullshit! I've had endless complaints about you Miss. Danvers, ever since your freakish self stepped foot into my fucking school" he cursed, Kara felt tears sting her eyes. How the hell could a principal be so cruel to students?
"Mr. Rockwell, please" Kara begged. He slammed his hand again, this time not realizing he had hit the button on the speaker. Now the entire school could hear what he was saying
"No. Miss. Danvers, you're an embarrassment to my school, A freak, A loser. Why is it you had to come here anyways? You're not your sister or your brother, that's for sure. So why are you here!" Rockwell growled. Followed by Kara's loud sobs. She was so upset, she couldn't even speak. "Stop crying! I want you out of my school. I don't care if you didn't actually do anything. I want you OUT" He spat.
Alex heard the speaker turn on, and what she heard was horrifying. "No. Miss. Danvers, you're an embarrassment to my school, A freak, A loser. Why is it you had to come here anyways? You're not your sister or your brother, that's for sure. So why are you here!" Her eyes went wide, it was their principal! talking to Kara! students in her class muttered some things. Some were agreeing with him, saying good riddance to the freak puppet, and some were shocked, and disgusted. She heard Kara's loud sob. Anger washed over her, she clenched her jaw. "Stop crying! I want you out of my school. I don't care if you didn't actually do anything. I want you OUT" Rockwell spat. Alex's eyes went wider. How dare he! He is supposed to be professional. Not some kind of low life asshole! She stood up, the teacher noticed Alex's expression and she simply nodded, allowing Alex to be excused from class to see Kara.
Rockwell continued to belittle Kara, telling her that she has no place in his school and he should just expel her already. Calling the head of the school board a weak, spineless, idiot, forever allowing a Danvers into the school like her. Still, Rockwell was unaware of his speaker being on, because it was a modified speaker where you simply push a button to make announcements.
Alex busted the door down, Rockwell jumped in surprise,
"What are you doing here, Miss. Danvers? aren't you supposed to be in class?" He asked her.
"Shut your filthy mouth, Corey Rockwell" Alex spat out. Rockwell growled.
"Excuse me? how dare you talk to me that way young lady! I am your principal and you will not disrespect me!" He yelled.
"Talk about respect when you just used ever insult that every student has used on my sister, right to her face!" Alex yelled, Rockwell was confused, that's when he looked down and saw the green light on his speaker.
"Shit" he muttered. He spoke through it properly, "Apologies for the interruption, students" he spoke. That's when the door opened, in walked Mr. Shoden and the head of the school board.
"Cornelius Rockwell?" Said Mr. Bowen. Rockwell flushed a dark red. His ears, neck and face.
"yes?" He asked.
"Come with us," Bowen said.
"Fuck.." Rockwell said in a quiet voice as he grabbed his jacket and followed them out. Alex ran over to Kara, who still had tears falling down her face.
"hey, I'm here,'' Alex said.
"Is.. is it true?" Kara asked as she sputtered out words while tears spilled. Alex shook her head.
"No! of course not!" Alex said.
"Then why did he say that? why does everybody say that!" Kara sobbed louder.
Lena was in her classroom, listening to Kara's crying. It broke her heart, no not just break, it made it shatter like a million mirrors just broke. That's when she decided she had to finally do it. She had to cut ties with Trinity and Gillian. She should've done it before, but her friends were never this mean to anyone. It was always friendly banter with other students that Lena would shut down if it got too rude. But this? with Danvers girl? this was beyond bullying. She'd shut down the rumors, tell people to fuck off, she knew her friends didn't start the rumors about Kara but they played into it. Not anymore, she didn't know her well but Kara needed someone to guide her and protect her.
Lena decided she was going to be that person. Even if it meant ruining her status.
Alex hit the speaker's button again, making the light turn red, and held a crying Kara.
