Friendship
Kara Danvers was new to Earth. Her mother and father had sent her and her cousin off to Earth to avoid the explosion of their home. Unfortunately, Kara's pod got knocked off course and she was stuck in the phantom zone for a good couple of years, until it got loose and had eventually landed. Her adopted parents welcomed her with open arms, and their two kids,Alex and Jason welcomed her just as happily. When she first started school, she was an instant target. Due to the fact she had to keep her powers a secret, she was forced to deal with the bullying from some these insufferable, idiotic humans known as teenagers (not all of them of course. this is partly based off of my own personal experience from bullies except I didn't deal with as much shit as I'm going to write for Kara. nothing too far) . For years.
Kara stirred in her sleep, tossing and turning.
"Kara" said a voice, still no response, as Kara kept kicking and tossing around.
"Kara, wake up" said the voice again. It was clearer now. It was her sister, Alex.
"Kara, seriously, wake the hell up" Alex shook her sister softly, making Kara jolt up.
"What's going on?" She asked. Alex sighed.
"Another nightmare?" Alex asked. Kara nodded and put her hand on top of her head.
"Oh Rao, this is a painful one," she groaned. Alex kissed her head.
"You can talk to me about it later, but for now you need get dressed Kara. Mom said Jason can't take us to school today, so we need to ride the bus" Alex told her. Kara nodded and got ready, making sure her glasses were on her face. Today was her first day of 10th grade. She was 16, Alex was 17 and Jason was 18.
The girls headed downstairs to where Eliza was once they were both ready.
"Good morning girls" She said happily.
"Morning Mom" the girls said in sync. For a few years, Kara referred to Eliza as "Eliza" , until she was told, if she's comfortable, she can call her mom. They sat down and began to eat breakfast. Alex laughed softly as she watched Kara eat at least 8 pancakes.
"I still don't get how you can eat so many pancakes, Kara" Alex told her. Kara shrugged and gave Alex a small smile.
Soon enough, it was time to head onto the bus. They wrapped up breakfast and brushed their teeth, heading downstairs to get on the bus.
"Bye girls, see you after school" Eliza said as she sent them off. Pulling up to the bus stop, the girls got on, Alex went ahead, knowing Kara is mostly a lone wolf on the bus. When Kara got onto the bus, a boy named Riley Phel stuck his foot out, causing Kara to trip.
"Whoops, sorry freak" Riley said, letting out an obnoxious laugh, high fiving his dumb ass friends. Kara glared at him but stood down because she knew if she could, she could basically kill him. Kara got up and sat at the very back, so nobody could talk shit about her. At least, she wouldn't be able to with her music playing. The headphones basically lived in Kara's ears because of her super hearing, without the headphones, everyone calls her a 'freak' or a 'loser'.
She sat in the back, until she saw a boy, who looked about seventeen, walk over to her.
"Excuse me" he said, Kara looked up and removed one ear bud, "Is it okay if I sit here?" he asked. Kara nodded and scooted over a little.
"Thanks, I'm Barry" Barry said as he sat down, then he stuck out his hand.
"Nice to meet you, Barry, I'm Kara" she replied with a smile, shaking his hand. Barry frowned. This girl seems so sunshiney and bright, why the hell were people so cruel?
"You seem nice, Kara.I hate what I hear from people about you" he told her. Kara shrugged.
"It's fine. It's been happening for 3 years now" Kara replied.
"Well, I'm here if you ever need anybody" Barry said with a smile.
"Thanks" Kara replied with a smile. She opened her bag and took out a packet of gum, grabbing one, she handed it to Barry.
"Gum?" She offered, Barry looked down and smiled, slowly taking the piece.
"Thanks" he replied.
Maybe sophomore year wouldn't be so bad after all.
