Yeah, I guess?

The blond tilted her head to the side, somewhat resembling a golden retriever.

“What’s wrong, did I miss something? Gods don't get married very often so I just spied on a bunch of mortals for a while to get the basics.”

Wednesday felt like she was going to throw up.

Was this some kind of sick joke?

Have the gods not done enough to torment her family already?

Enid looked up at her with bright blue eyes, head still tilted and a confused look on her face.

Suddenly her face lit up.

“Oh duh! I totally forgot the most important part. Give me a sec alright?”

The goddess stood up and spread out her arms. Suddenly the all-white room they were standing in became dark and her eyes turned black.

The goddess started speaking a language that Wednesday had never heard before. The longer she listened to it the more her head started to hurt, when she started to feel dizzy the blond finally stopped.

“Here you go! It’s so pretty, isn’t it? I know serpens is your favorite constellation, I see you look for it every night so I put its reflection in the ring.”

The young Addams looked down at the ring that the goddess was presenting to her and decided to ignore the whole “I see you look for it every night” thing. The ring was silver and gold with strands that seemed woven together like vines. On the top, instead of a diamond, there was a small orb that did indeed hold her favorite constellation. The constellation almost seemed to slither around the orb.

“So? Wednesday Thursday-”

“It’s Friday.”

“And again it’s really disrespectful to interrupt someone that could turn you into a comet. So don’t let it happen again alright?”

Enid’s eyes flashed black for a moment before returning to their normal shade of blue.

“Anyways as I was saying, for the 3rd time, Wednesday Friday Addams you will marry me.”

“I don’t think you phrased that question right.”

“It wasn’t a question, I only ask for things twice.”

Wednesday took a deep breath.

“And if I agree, you will help my village?”

She could tell that the goddess was losing her patience, but she needed to make sure that her people would get help. “Look you’re like totally cute and everything and the whole stoic but caring thing is like hot and all but we have to fix the whole listening and interrupting thing.”

Enid took a few steps closer to Wednesday before continuing.

“If you marry me I will give you anything you want within my power and all I ask from you is your worship. That’s it, I think I’m being more than reasonable because other gods would have been long gone by now. Most of us don’t want to work with any of you Addams again so I’m like being more than generous.”

That last part took Wednesday by surprise, but she wasn’t going to let it show. She needed to keep her expressions under control now more than ever.

“You know why the gods haven’t blessed any of us?”
The blond let out a small laugh.

“Of course I do, it’s very common knowledge amongst gods.”

Wednesday felt her hands start sweating but she tried to keep her breathing steady.

“Could you please tell me why? My family has been trying to figure it out for so long.”

“Sorry, no can do it’s a secret amongst us gods.”

The Goddess looked thoughtful for a moment, then she let out a small sigh.

“Look I can’t tell you exactly why, I’m not allowed. We all took an oath. But I can tell you that it wasn’t exactly something that could have been changed.”

The blond reached out and hand to touch Wednesday’s hair and the brunette was too afraid to flinch back, fearing annoying the goddess any further.

“Now, I need your answer.”

Wednesday feels the ring being pushed into her hand. For a moment she couldn’t believe the situation she was in. She was actually being asked to marry one of the most powerful beings in existence.

Her mother had always told her that she wanted her to marry for love.

She grew up hearing the story of her mother and father falling in love.

And how her mother escaped an unwanted marriage.

But what choice did she have? If she said no the death of hundreds of people would be for nothing. And hundreds more would probably starve to death or die of illness or dehydration.

So she made her choice.

She took the ring and put it on, she felt it tighten on her finger. It wasn’t painful or unpleasant even, it felt just right.

A squealing noise made her look up and she saw the moon goddess jumping up and down in glee while talking to herself.

“I knew I could do it! Take that Yoko, she’s totally going to lose her mind when I tell her that it worked. Oh shit, I totally forgot, blah blah blah I can now kiss the bride and all that.”

The blond suddenly grabbed Wednesday’s head and pulled her in for a kiss.

It wasn’t exactly a pleasant first kiss. Neither of them knew what they were doing and Wednesday would honestly rather be anywhere else.

Meanwhile, the goddess thought she was killing it.

Enid pulled away with a large smile on her face and clapped her hands together happily.

“Alright I need to leave now but I’ll come see you again tomorrow!”

“Wait, what about my-”

“I’ll take care of it tomorrow, you guys can last one more day without…. What was it again?”

“Um, food.”

“Yeah you’ll be fine, see you tomorrow honey, byeeeeeeee.”

Wednesday opened her eyes and found herself still kneeling at the alter, her head hurt slightly for a second before her senses started getting used to everything again.

When she got up and turned around her parents and brother ran up to her.

Her brother was the first to speak, “Wednesday, did it work?”

She held up her left hand and showed her family the ring.

“I guess you could say that.”

Her mother gasped and put her hand over her mouth before looking mournfully at her.
