Steve's OC boyfriend or girlfriend would never prop Tony Stark
If somebody is with Steve, then character matters to them. Along with doing the right thing. Because Steve wouldn't be involved with them otherwise. So why would anyone who's with Steve suddenly start propping Tony Stark?
Note: Set during the Accords debate.

Tony said, “We have to be put in check! If we don’t accept boundaries, we’re no better than the bad guys.”
A voice behind him said, “You’re kidding, right?”
Tony turned around to see Alice, Rogers’ main squeeze/best gal/sweetheart/whatever. She was sitting on a countertop, eating a bowl of cereal.
Tony asked, “Who invited you to this conversation?”
The gal shrugged, put her bowl down, and slid off the counter. She said, “I don't need an invitation--I was already in the room when you started talking. If you didn’t want a witness to you being a JERK, you should have asked me to leave before you started being a JERK.”
Of course Rogers smiled at the gal and asked, “What are you saying, Alice?”
Alice strolled over and perched on the arm of Steve's chair. She looked at the others and said, “I learned the hard way not to just jump without checking everything first--you can't rush these things. Unless someone is shooting at you, of course. But usually, all of the pieces--the terms of the Accords here--have to line up before you can pick the--uh, turn the key.”
Rogers said, “So you think that somebody's trying to rush us into making a bad decision.”
Alice nodded, her blonde ponytail bouncing. Then she glared at Tony and said, “And I think that ANYBODY trying to push you to sign is probably ‘no better than the bad guys’.”
Tony frowned as he asked, “Who are you again?”
Romanov smirked and said, “Someone who’s making me reconsider my position.”
Wilson smiled at Romanov as he said, “Glad to hear it.”
Rhodey nodded slowly and said, “She's right. Giving us only three days is trying to push us into making a mistake.”
Rogers nodded and said, “Especially since it leaves NO room for negotiation. According to Ross, our only choices are sign or retire--they want us to just sign away our rights and especially our right to choose. It’s wrong, and I will NOT be bullied into making a bad decision.”
He looked right at Tony and said, “By ANYONE.”
Alice beamed and thumped Rogers hard on the shoulder. She didn’t even shake her hand out afterward.
Wanda nodded and said, “I agree. I cannot sign. If for no other reason, my country--and my brother--deserve better than this.”
Vison frowned and said, “I believed I had an equation, but upon further reflection, I must say it is Iron Man who is the deciding factor in many conflict escalations. I will withhold my opinion on the Accords until further deliberation.”

Alice traveled with Steve, Natasha, and Sam for Peggy Carter’s funeral. With no Avengers except Iron Man willing to sign, the Accords ratification was postponed. Zemo’s plan failed.
And when Steve introduced the others to his boyfriends Hardison and Eliot and the rest of “Alice’s” team at Levarage, Inc., they realized they didn’t really need Tony after all.
