Chapter 2
As the time passes by, you find yourself watching the clock slowly tick towards the end of your 3rd period class, Crypto and Coding 101. Your parents signed you up for this class in hope for you to make some more friends. Instead, you find yourself learning something that just didn’t exist.(so you thought). As the bell rings for the second period, you look at your schedule, despite you going here for a few years, you keep forgetting your schedule.
You noticed that this is your free period. You thought about heading down to the computer lab to play some games when you hear someone call out your name, startling you. You noticed faith running towards you from art.
“Let’s go get Nyx! I got a surprise for y’all”
. Despite running here (and looking out of breath) they said that pretty clearly. You ask him if they even know where Nyx is.
“Oh! I think she’s in mathematics. Come on!”
He grabs your hand, ‘dragging’ you towards the maths classroom.

“Ok, so what did you want to show us?”
Faith has taken the both of you to the back of the school.
” Look in the box”
As we looked over at the box, the box moved a bit, startling the both of you.
*Look in?
Yes* No
[ You looked in the box!]
Looking inside of the box, you see two little kittens. One as fluffy as a cloud and the other is as dark as night.
"Where did you find them?”
You nodded your head in agreement. Where did faith find them?
“Oh, they were in the backstage closet. I wanted to show them y’all,”
he nodded towards Nyx.
“ Since someone here is banned from the theatre,” He said while looking at Nyx. “I had to bring them outside”
“Wait wait wait. THERE WERE KITTENS IN THERE!?”
You told Nyx to keep it down, as that is when you notice something in the bushes behind you. Faith must also have seen it because they swiftly moved toward the bush (A/N: Not caring if it’s dangerous, mind you) and grabbed whatever it was. It was a kid you might’ve seen before. They looked similar to one of the avian kids you saw hanging around the school after hours. After a second of shock, they spoke.
“Not here to fight ya know!”
Despite the cheerfulness, they sounded nervous, understandably. You ask faith to put them down. As you watch as they put the newcomer down, you ask them for their name.
” My name is Robin, nice you to meet y'all”
They sound friendly enough,
”Pronouns.”
You wished they said that a bit more kindly, that kind of sounded like a threat.
“He/they”
Noticing that they are wearing the school symbol, you ask him if they are from the school.
“ Oh yeah, I do go here.”
He glances at the box of kittens,
“They belong to me, I just didn’t want to leave them at home alone, ya know?”
Well, that made sense to you. And by the looks of it, to Faith and Nyx as well. You and the stranger, Robin, start to talk a bit more. At the same time Nyx and Faith both sit on the ground with the both of you and join the conversion.

As you four are speaking, the bell rings. You watch as Faith starts getting up.
“Sorry everyone, but I have to go. I have training soon.”
As you watch Faith walk away, you notice Nyx and Robin look confused. You explain to them that Faith is old enough to start training to join the guards. While Nyx seems to understand what you are talking about, Robin still seems confused.
“Guard? What do you mean? Is it similar to the protectors back at home?”
You realise that robin isn’t from around here. Now that you think about it, Avians are new to this area. You nod your head. You mention that the guards are the supposed “protectors” of the town, though sometimes, they fail at their jobs, and/or pretend to protect others. You hear Nyx laugh a bit as Robin eyes light up at your explanation.
“So can I be a protector here?”
You nod your head once more as you hear Nyx say,’
“If you are of age.”
“What is the minimum age?”
You hear the excitement in his voice. You say it’s 15, but one can join if they are within 3 months away from then. You see their eyes light up as he says,
“So I can join???”
“How old are you then?”
“15!”
That startles you and Nyx. You knew they had to be at least 10 because they go to the same school as you, but 15 !? You look at Robin again. They're so tiny! Robin seems to notice that you and Nyx are surprise, as they say,
“My family is just small, ok? I'm not that small”
“Agree to disagree.”
You nodded in response to Nyx. you notice Robin rolling his eyes. Now out of curiosity, you ask what kind of bird he was.
“Hm? Crow, why?”
Robin seems confused at why you and Nyx are surprised at everything he says. You tell him that it just caught you off guard Seeing as his name is robin. He laughs.
“Makes no sense right? That’s because I came up with my name. It’s pretty cool, don’t cha think?”
You nod your head as you hear Nyx say,
“Yeah it is”
Suddenly, you hear your phone ring. You look and see your dad calling you. You tell Robin and Nyx that you need to head home. As you run off, you hear them saying goodbye.
