Chapter 5
Wednesday's mind was set on one thing and one thing only. Protect Enid Sinclair. And she would do so, at all costs. There was no doubt in her mind that there was a threat in the building that put Enid at a risk, she had already lost her once. Over her dead body would she let anything happen again. The SWAT team had left about a minute ago. When she was sure they were gone she quickly bolted to the door. "WEDNESDAY DON'T" Weems yelled in a softer way, obviously trying to keep her voice down. She got up to chase after her, but Wednesday already slipped out the door and shut it behind her. She looked down the empty hall, it was too quiet. Enid's room was on the 4th floor. She swiftly made her way towards the stairs and began climbing. Once she climbed to the 4th floor, moving as fast as she could she started making her way to Enid's room. She turned the corner to see a dead SWAT member in pieces down the hall. He looked like he was torn apart. She armed herself with the fallen soldiers gun, it was half the size of the small girl, but she still looked badass holding it anyway. She kept working her way down the hall, there was no signs at all of the SWAT members. As she turned another corner, gun first this time, she saw two more SWAT soldiers on the floor. She kicked them both to see if they were still alive or even moving, no response from either. She peered through all of the open doors while she was moving down the hall, still no sign of the monster. She had one more corner to turn before getting to her room. She turned it once again to see an entire pile of men. Each of them were certainly dead. She even saw the main soldier who she saw yell clear just a few minutes ago. This was recent. She noticed that Enid's door was propped open and she began sprinting towards it. Yes, she was scared, but she was even more scared of losing her girl before she even got to tell her how deeply she cares and loves her. If it came down to it, she would give up her own life if it meant keeping Enid safe.
Wednesday ached at the sight. Enid was laying in the bed, unconscious. She had a knife poking out the side of her stomachs. She quickly dropped her weapon and rushed to her aid. She knew not to pull out the knife, as that would surely lead to more damage. She felt for her pulse, it was faint, but it was there. "Just hold on for just a minute, baby. I'm gonna save you, I promise." Wednesday said through tears. Enid's face was full of cuts and bruises, next to her scars from just a month ago. She had been through more than most people have to handle in a lifetime, in just a short month. She picked up a sheet from the bed and began applying pressure to the surrounding areas. She knew the police would shortly arrive, but she didn't know when that was. and she didn't know if Enid could hold out that long. So without even thinking, she pulled out all the wires attached to her and held her in her arms as she made her way to the ER (Which was on the first floor.) She figured there would still be doctors there, probably still in lockdown. As long as there was anyone who could help her, she would be fine. She was heavy for Wednesday to pick up, considering she was slightly muscular and taller than her, but her adrenaline was so high she didn't even notice. As she was leaving the room, her eyes darted to the corner. It sparked something within the goth. Esther Sinclair was sitting in the corner. She was wounded, but not heavily. Wednesday had to make a decision, handle Esther now or take Enid downstairs, but she might not get another chance at her. The choice was obvious, she made eye contact with the monster for only a moment then continued rushing towards the stairs. She didn't have a minute to lose. She rushed down the stairs and into the ER, sure enough it was still filled with people who were waiting for the "All clear."
"PLEASE HELP HER" Wednesday shouted the moment she entered the room. "PLEASE IS THERE ANYONE IN HERE WHO CAN HELP HER?? SHE'S RUNNING OUT OF TIME." Wednesday looked around the room frantically. A Man in a white coat hurried over to her and took her from the girls hands. Wednesday looked down at her hands for a moment, she was covered in blood. In Enid's blood. Wednesday felt like she was in a haze. Everything was happening so fast, but all she could do now is hope the girl will be alright. Wednesday remembered the thing upstairs. She looked back at the man gently holding her. He turned to a woman and gave her a list of supplies he needed. It seemed like they had it covered. Wednesday had a task of her own she needed to fulfill. A task that would be slow and painful. She made her way up the stairs once again. Every time she climbs a flight, she feels a spark of excitement tingle through her body. Before she knew it, she found herself back on the 4th floor. She looked over to a red box on the wall. It read "Break in case of emergency." Fuck. Yes. She breaks it with her bare hands, leaving small shards of glass in her left hand. She didn't even feel it. She took the red axe from the case and darted down the hall. She could hardly wait to get to the woman. She had a look in her eyes that resembled a kid waiting in line to ride a roller coaster. Pure joy. Once she gets back to the corner, she's hurt to see Esther was gone. She couldn't have been far though, she noticed the spots of blood from the spot where she was sitting trailing over to a janitors closet. She isn't reluctant to open the door, once again she is met with disappointment as the closet is empty.
As she turns around she's bashed in the head with an empty bucket that must have been in the closet. Wednesday falls to her knees and her nose begins to trickle blood. Her eyes meet with the creature known as Esther. "Surprise" She hisses as she throws the bucket at Wednesday again. This time Wednesday, who had anticipated her next move, seamlessly dodges it. "How cowardly of you to attack from a distance, do you feel no shame? I am just a little girl after all." Wednesday said smugly. She stood up and held the axe in her right hand. "How does it feel for you to know that once I'm finished with you, I will be the one to care and provide for your daughter. To raise the wolf pups that you'll never meet. To kiss her and touch her tenderly. To be intimate with her in every way possible." Esther narrowed her eyes at the girl. Good. She was getting worked up. Wednesday wanted to kill her knowing that she was trying her hardest and it still wasn't good enough. Of course, she pounced almost immediately at Wednesday's statement. Wednesday had figured she would make a move like that and quickly crouched down and swept her leg, leaving her falling face first on the floor. She could have ended it right there, but she wanted to drag it out as long as possible. Esther, who was already injured from the SWAT just stayed there for a moment. Is this seriously all she had?? How had she taken out an entire team of armed force and this small girl was able to get her on the ground so easily. Oh. OH. Wednesday looked out the window. It was just about sunrise. Esther must have been in her wolf form. Still, she shouldn't be this weak against the girl. Wednesday Walked over to her and stepped on her hand. Maybe all she needed was some motivation. She brought the axe above her head and took her hand clean off. Esther howled in pain so loud, she was sure the whole city could hear. Perfect.
Esther rolled on her back, looking at the blood pouring out from her nub. Her face turned white and she saw the tears rolling off her cheeks as she was screaming frantically. Wednesday got on her knees to look the bitch directly in the face. "Pathetic" She said as she hawked a huge clump of spit on her face. Then in that moment, Esther opened her mouth and bit a chunk of flesh out of Wednesdays shoulder. She rolled off her, but she didn't scream or cry or even look at the mark. Her eyes were still set on Esther's. The older woman took the moment to try and attack. She grew her claws and attempted to slash Wednesday in the face but the goth was faster and smarter than that. She quickly rolled out of the way and rose to her feet. Finally, She saw in her eyes what she was looking for all along, she was enraged. She knew now that she could kill her at her best. She was standing with her feet shoulders width apart and staring through her eyebrows. She knew that she must have looked terrifying. Esther was first to attack again. She attempted to stab Wednesday with her claws on her remaining hand. She lunged forward, but Wednesday stepped out of the way. She brought the hatchet above her head and swung it behind her knee. She loved the sound of her screams. However, she wasn't expecting Esther to swiftly turn around and claw Wednesday in the face. She looked at her damage and laughed. "You're woeful. You seriously think you'll be able to take care of my mess of an offspring. You aren't even able to protect yourself" This infuriated the girl. She decided that she was done toying around. She wiped the blood dripping from the claw marks on her face and withdrew the axe from Esther's leg. Then in almost a flash she Swung it 180 degrees and watched it come to a halt in the side of Esther's head. Blood drenched the brunettes face, but she smiled through the blood. Then she grabbed a finger and swiped it across her cheek and put it into her mouth. That was the last sight Esther saw before her eyes stopped twitching, and her life finally came to an end. Wednesday retracted the axe and watched her drop. Then she watched the woman fall to the floor and she threw the axe to the side. She had won. Suddenly, the adrenaline had vanished and she felt all the exhaustion of the battle and lack of food and hydration. Before she knew it, Wednesday collapsed right next to her.
When Wednesday opened her eyes, it took a moment for her to register where she was. She was now the one in a hospital bed. She looked over to the right to find that she was hooked up to machines. But that wasn't what she cared about, it was what she saw when she looked to the left. Enid was asleep in the bed next to her, hooked up to a similar machine. Wednesday smiled, not just any smile. She smiled with her teeth and her cheeks fully extended to both sides of her face. She sat up, but she had to sturdy herself on the side of the bed. She was definitely feeling weak and tired. She walked over to her bed and brushed a piece of pink and blonde hair out of her face. Her cheeks were beginning to hurt from smiling so hard. Then suddenly, her heart fluttered and began beating at 100 miles per hour. Enid slowly opened her eyes and smiled back at her. "Hey Winny. Looks like we have matching scars" Enid chuckled softly. "I heard wh-" The raven cut her off. She bent down and kissed her mid sentence without even thinking about it.
This is the start of a new life she never knew she so desperately needed.
