Chapter 1
Wednesday typically hated love. Growing up in an environment where her parents were all over each other all the time, she nearly vowed to herself that she would never fall in love with anyone. That is of course, until she met Enid Sinclair. After Enid had saved Wednesdays life from a boy she was nearly mauled by, Wednesday viewed Enid in another way entirely. She had only ever had one "crush" (who happened to turn out to be a vicious murderer who only had intentions of using her to release a greater evil), but what she felt for Enid was far from just a crush. It was most certainly love. When an Addams loves, they don't just love. That person becomes the Addams everything. The entire world will change for them. They would do anything with nothing holding them back at the utter request of their lover. in other words, the Addams would worship and adore them. They'd do anything for them, They'd be their devoted slave. Enid was on her mind all of the time. How could she willingly risk giving up her life for someone like her? Was she the reason she was able to transform that night? Was she ashamed of her battle scars? Did she always smell like birthday cake? Why did she choose pink and blue to be the colors she would stain her hair with? It had been only one month since the attack at Nevermore. Wednesday could feel herself losing to the Addams curse everyday. She knew it had been far too soon for anything romantic to happen between them, she also knows that she has done absolutely nothing to show that she held non platonic feelings toward the wolf. Even though she knows these things, she still constantly wonders what it would feel like to feel Enid's soft lips brush hers. To be loved by someone so beautiful, inside and out, as Enid is. She wants to grow old with Enid. To stay by her side eternally.
Parents weekend wallowed over Nevermore once again. "Let's get this over with quickly. I think I might be dreading this more than I did the first time." Enid said with a sigh. Wednesday gave her a confused look, "How so? Will your parents not be pleased with you? You've finally granted them their wish for you to wolf out". Enid hesitated for a moment, "Well.. I'm sure my dad will be happy to see me. I'm not so sure 'bout my mom though. She's gonna be so mad at me when she sees my face. She's always bitching about how I need to present myself well in order to attract a mate. Clean hair, fitted clothes, light makeup, ya know. I can only imagine how she's gonna react to a permanent imperfection. She didn't even come visit when she heard about it in the hospital because she didn't want to see the damage. It's a miracle she even decided to come today." Enid raised a hand to feel her raised scars. She traced her fingers against the hard red lines that trailed across her face. Wednesday took a moment of silence, staring at her face. She wanted to tell her how beautiful she thought she truly was. They're a work of art, They have a tale to tell, and most of all, they are the permanent reminder of your bravery. The permanent reminder of the fateful night that I fell deeply in love with you. They make more beautiful in every way. She realized she was taking to long to reply. "That's a shame. Your mother should be embarrassed. You look adequate with them just as you did without." Enid beamed brightly at the girl. She knew that was her weird way of complimenting her. Wednesday felt three dozen butterflies dance and flip in her stomach as she saw the wolfs smile. She was the only thing she needed in this world. She felt her lip slightly twitch up, barely visible to the naked eye. "Thanks, Winny. It's not just that though. This will be the first time I've spoken to her since I've come out. And you know how she is. Very traditional. She expects me to marry an older male wolf and have wolf pups right after Nevermore. I mean I want kids eventually, but I want to live first. And Def not with A male." She remembers exactly when Enid told her that she was a lesbian. 2 weeks and 3 days ago. On a Thursday afternoon. It was when she realized she might have more of a chance than she thought. She was so thrilled that night that she refrained from her late night cello solo so Enid could sleep. "She does not deserve the title of your mother if merely being attracted to the same sex is something that would bring her any sort of discomfort." Enid giggled. "See you in the room later. try not to run away from your mother. I'll miss you too much." And with that she was heading over to her pack and Wednesday was on her way to greet the family of her own.
"My little viper, you're looking dreadful as ever. I see Nevermore must be treating you well. Is that even a hint of color I see on my little monstrosity??" Gomez said as he was reaching out for a hug. Wednesday paused, Just out of reach from the short mans clutches. "Your poor attempt at affection is beginning to make me nauseous." Gomez let out a chuckle. Good to see that she hasn't changed, he thought. "It's been torture without you, my angel of death. Tell us everything.. especially the incident with Crackstone. I want to hear every gory detail. We're so proud of you." Morticia said in her smooth, deep voice.
It had been a full day with her parents. They talked about everything. It was miserable for her. Time seemed to move by extremely slow. All she wanted was to be back home with her Enid. She was hoping her mother hadn't been too hard on her, Mostly for the sake of Esther. Wednesday would have to physically restrain herself if they had caused any sort of sorrow to her lov- her friend. friend. As the time finally arrived for them to leave, Gomez asked to speak to Wednesday alone for a minute before they got in the car. "So.... do you seriously think I couldn't tell." What was he talking about?? "I know you've fallen in love with the colorful wolf. And I know what it means when an Addams falls in love, mi hija oscura. You've brought her up any time you could, and any time you did I could see you brighten." Her faced was bright red. Redder than she or her father even knew possible. What was she supposed to say?? Should she just lie?? Well.. maybe she should talk to someone about this. Someone who would understand and could help guide her. All she could mutter was a simple yes. Her father smiled extremely wide. "ANOTHER ADDAMS!! YES!!!" Before he knew it she slipped behind his back, knife to throat. "If the thought of you mentioning this to anyone ever crosses your mind, I can assure you I will show you no mercy." "Yes my little death trap, I wouldn't even consider it. I will wait for you to tell people on your own time, but can't a father be excited. I never thought this day would come." She lowered the knife and turned to look him in his face, even though she knew she was red as a cherry. "She is already considered family, although I have briefly met her, I can say whole-heartedly that you made the perfect decision. Anyone who would put themselves in a life or death situation to save you will have my full respect. She is now my daughter." Although Wednesday normally hated when her parents showed too much affection, when it was directed towards Enid, she couldn't help but feel warm. The situation almost made her want to hug her father for the kind words he was saying towards her. almost. "So what should I do?" She asked, fiddling with her thumbs. "Well have you told her your feelings?" "Not yet. I haven't even hinted that l might be interested. Sometimes she does little things that could lead me to believe she could potentially show interest in me." He smiled at that. "What kind of little things?" " Well, for example, she will always tell me that she misses me. Sometimes she will even bring me food to ensure I received the proper nutrients for the day. She's always trying to be physically close to me, even if it just means were in the same room." Wednesday could feel her mouth begin to twitch again. " She only speaks highly of me to her friends, even though I am aware I can possess some unlikable traits. She's constantly complimenting my appearance with words like 'cute' or 'beautiful'. In all honesty, I'm not sure why I haven't reciprocated the fondness. I crave any and all attention from her." Gomez just looks at her with so much love in his eyes. "I know why. You're afraid, You're afraid that she may not actually feel love for you. I know this because I was once in your position as well. But the truth is, she does. I know you have built high walls, but let them down around her. You may think you despise love, but once you are the one experiencing it, it is a completely other world, viper. I don't expect you to know what you're doing, nobody does when they are in love. So take my advice, Whoo her. Show her attention like nobody has given her. Once you know the feeling is mutual, claim her. You have our full support. Anything you ever need, you know where to find us." Wednesday was actually very glad she had this conversation with her father. It turned out to be incredibly helpful to her. The feeling to want to give him a hug never went away, but she could never be that vulnerable around him. So instead she settled for a handshake. "Thank you." He got into the car, and they all said their goodbyes. She watched as the black 1950 Cadillac Hearse drive down the road.
