Chapter 1
Watching the tall buildings slowly disappear from her car window was calming. The skies had long since gone dark, the moon and her headlights the only thing illuminating the road she was driving on. Running her hand through her hair Katarina sighed, her home was just out of view now.
It was a quaint home, with a tree heavily decorated with dolls on the front, as per her kids' antics.
Going inside she let out a sigh of relief as the familiar scent of her home reached her nose. Going over to the kitchen, she looks in the pantry to find some instant ramen. On her way to the cabinets, it was then that she remembered they had just ran out of noodles.
She checked the time, and it was already past 12, most stores would be closed right now. Well, there was that newly opened 7/11 down the road, right? Nows the time to check it out.
Katarina decided to walk since it wasn't that far anyways, grabbing her keys and wallet she heads out, closing her door with a soft click.
Popping on her earphones, she decided to listen to some songs. Scrolling through her albums she clicks on the one at the very top and puts it on shuffle.
The lights from the store came into view by the time the third song had finished. Walking through the parking lot, Katarina saw two boys sitting on one of the outside chairs the store had, they were fighting. Katarina minds her business as she walks in the store.
Going through the aisles, she gets herself noodles and chocolates. She puts her stuff on the counter as a cashier takes and scans them.
"That will be $19.86," As Katarina hands the cashier a 20, they lock eyes for a moment.
Katarinas breath hitched as she felt her heartbeat faster, her green eyes stare into beautiful reds. Feeling a blush make its way onto her face, she quickly looked away, hoping it wasnt that noticeable.
"Uhm... Ma'am are you okay?" The cashier looked nervous. "Oh! Yes, I'm sorry." Katarina to gave an apologetic smile.
"O... kay then," The cashier puts Katarinas change on top of the counter. "Thank you for your purchase."
Katarina nods and quickly turns on her heels and ran, forgetting about her change.
