Of Dances and Dangers
“Hey, Tubbo? There’s a letter from Kinoko Kingdom.” Ranboo held up a white paper.
“Can you read it, please?”
“Yeah, sure. Um, it says: To Tubbo of Snowchester, we ask that you bring the members of your country to our ball. You do not have to wear any specific colors as long as all guests brought dress formally. Wearing your country’s or Kinoko Kingdom’s colors is appreciated but not necessary. Thank you, Karl and Sapnap of Kinoko Kingdom.”
“Did Phil and Techno get one of these too?”
“Probably.”
“What’s that?” Selene asked.
“A letter from Kinoko Kingdom,” Tubbo answered.
“What’s it say?”
“It’s asking me to bring people to the country for a ball.”
“Isn’t that a fancy party where people dance?”
“Yeah.”
“Can Michael and I come?”
“Why not? You’re both technically part of Snowchester.”
“Yay!”
The young girl ran to her younger brother. “Michael, Michael, Michael! We get to go to a fancy party!”
Quackity awoke to the sound of someone knocking on the door. He tried getting up when Wilbur pulled him back on the bed.
“Stay…” he mumbled, clearly half asleep.
“I’ll be back. It’s only for a few minutes.”
“…okay.” Wilbur let his husband go.
Quackity opened the door and saw Sam holding a letter. “Oh, hey, Sam! What’s that?”
“A letter from Kinoko Kingdom.”
“Oh…” The duck hybrid took the letter from the other’s hands and put on a fake smile. “Thank you. Goodbye.”
He quickly closed the door and started opening the letter. Wilbur was now hugging Quackity from behind. “Who’s it from?”
“My exes who made a country without me.” Quackity continued reading.
“Oh, them.”
“They want me to bring everyone from Las Nevadas there for some stupid ball.” He was done reading, ripping the paper almost immediately.
“Will you go?”
“Yes, because I’m petty. Since I’m your husband now, you’re joining. We’ll show them not to mess with us.”
“Can I place TNT under their roads and buildings?”
“No TNT. But I’m fine with arson. Anything to get us banned from there.”
“I love you.”
“I know you do.”
Wilbur kissed Quackity’s cheek. The duck hybrid smiled.
“Hey, Quackity? We should go.” Sam was standing at the door.
Quackity didn’t dare look up at his father as he put away what seemed to be a letter before responding. “I know. Just— just tell the others I’ll be there soon.”
Sam tried to hide the worried look on his face when he heard the slight shake in the duck hybrid’s voice. When he saw him turn away to hide the tears in his eyes. Sam nodded and left, respecting Quackity’s unspoken request to be left alone.
Not long after, Quackity was now in front of the group. He looked at them. “We’ve got a ball to attend. Let’s go.”
When they arrived in Kinoko Kingdom, they separated, meeting and chatting amongst the rest of the guests. Quackity and Wilbur were dancing together along with the music. Wilbur looked around and saw two people walking towards them.
“Q,” he whispered, “Your exes are coming.”
“Let them,” Quackity replied with a smile.
Soon, the music ended and Karl and Sapnap were close enough for Wilbur and Quackity to hear them arguing.
“When you said we were going to meet someone, I didn’t think you meant him,” Karl grumbled. Sapnap could only watch as he saw his fiancé storm off, not bothering to go after him.
He turned to the duck hybrid in front of him. “Quackity? Can we talk in private? Please?”
“Why should I, Sapnap?”
“It’s important.”
“…Fine.”
Quackity looked up at Wilbur. “Don’t worry. I’ll be back.”
He turned away and followed Sapnap. Once the two were out of Wilbur’s sight, Sapnap suddenly grabbed Quackity’s wrist and kept walking.
“What are you—? Sapnap, let go of me! Wilbur! Help!” Quackity struggled against Sapnap’s tight grip.
Sapnap stayed silent until they stopped. He let go of him, talking to someone else in front of them. “I brought him here. Will you keep your end of the deal?”
The mysterious voice answered, “Yes. I won’t harm your precious fiancé.”
The man stepped out of the shadows. With a nasty grin, he stared at Quackity. “Hello, Quackity.”
“Help!”
Selene’s eyes widened when she heard the yell over the loudness of the people around her. “Hey… that’s Mr. Quackity’s voice!”
She snuck away from her family, looking for Quackity. The girl lifted the hem of her skirt as she ran, determined to find him.
Quackity looked at Dream. “Why are you here?”
“Struck a deal with someone. They said they knew you,” Dream answered. Seeing Quackity take out his sword, the masked man immediately grabbed the weapon and tossed it to the side.
Quackity’s eyes widened. He yelled, desperately calling for Wilbur’s help.
“Oh, I don’t think Wilbur’s going to help you, Quackity,” Dream said.
Selene heard that was immediately pissed off. She snuck up behind Dream, saying, “Hello, you piece of shit. You don’t get to hurt my family.”
She stabbed him in the back. He recovered quickly, turning around to face Selene. “You thought that a simple stab in the back would hurt me? You’re pretty stupid for a kid.”
Quackity stood in horror as Dream knocked the girl unconscious. He couldn’t see who, but he was hit on the head from behind him and everything went pitch black.
Quackity felt two small hands aggressively shaking his shoulder, trying to wake him up. He opened his eyes and saw Selene next to him.
“Mr. Quackity, do you know where we are?”
“No, I don’t recognize this place.”
Selene tried untying the ropes binding Quackity’s hands since she already freed herself. She was almost done when Dream stepped in.
“Trying to escape? Quackity, if you somehow manage to escape, just know that you’re putting these two in danger,” Dream threatened, tossing a photo in front of the duck hybrid. He sat there in shock, automatically recognizing the two people in the photo.
Selene was scared. “Mr. Quackity, can we leave? I miss my dads and Michael. I just want to go home…”
“What to do with you, little girl?” Dream looked at her carefully. “You look like a certain someone. Have you ever heard of the enderman hybrid named Ranboo?”
Selene nodded. “He’s my dad, and you’re the mean guy who traumatized my parents and Uncle Tommy. You’re a bitch, you know that?”
“And I was going to let you go. Now I won’t.”
Quackity finished untying himself and held onto the photo. He stood up, still holding it. He glared at Dream, his voice shaking slightly as he asked, “What did you do to them?”
“Nothing. For now, at least. If you escape, I’ll make sure that everyone knows who Tilín and Tallulah are and how they’re related to you.”
“Don’t you dare touch my kids. People already know about Tubbo, why drag Tilín and Tallulah into my mess? They haven’t done anything wrong. They’re just kids.”
