Regulus POV

“Leave me alone to die,” I say as Evan and Barty try and slip through my curtains and into my bed.

“Now where would the fun in that be?” Evan says but comes to lay next to me so I can lay my head on his chest Barty comes and holds us both close, so that I am squished between the two of them.

“What happened, Reggie?” Barty sighs, “if this is about the Potter boy again I swear I’ll kill him.”

“I told him I liked him,” I mumble against Evans chest and his hand stills in my hair.

“What?”

“Dora told me I should and I was going to and then I wasn’t and then I did,” I say in a rushed breath.

“Okay first of all as much as I love that girl I am going to kill her and second I think I need the whole story here,” Barty tightens his grip on me.

“Okay so,” I take a deep breath, “me and James were supposed to meet tonight and I was going to tell him it was real because I thought he liked me too.”

“But?” Evan prompts.

“But he never showed and so I went to look for him and he was kissing Evans,” I look down and my voice is quiet, “so I ran and then he followed me and I broke off the fake dating and he asked if we could still be friends and I snapped and told him I couldn’t because I was in love with him.”

“What did he say?”

“Nothing.”

“Nothing?”

“I ran before he could say anything.”

“Oh, Regulus.”

“Stop.”

“No, we’re not doing this again, you don’t get to mope in here for dats because you won’t give yourself a chance to be happy.”

“ He kissed Evans!”

“He chased you!”

“Look, Regulus, Barty is right, the first time I kissed Barty nothing could pull mr away and yet James followed you.”

“Yeah because he plays bloody hero all the time,” I argue.

“He noticed you, you walk in a room and he only sees you, he ignores Lily all the time.”

“Stop.”

“He kissed you.”

“Stop.”

“He loves you!”

“Stop! Stop it!”

“Why do you insist on hurting yourself,” Barty says more softly and i go to pull up my sleeve to prove him wrong, “no not like that but you’re denying yourself happiness.”

“I’m tired,” is all I say and they both sigh.

“Talk to him.”

“I’ll think about it,” the thing is even if I wanted to talk to him, I couldn’t, James didn’t show up for anything the next day.
