Anna Revived
After a few moments, Elsa lands in the castle in Arendelle. She’s behind a pillar, and some sort of party is going on in the grand hall in front of her. She looks towards the throne, and sees, well, herself.
ELSA
It’s my coronation. I must have gone too far back. But Anna should still be here. Now, where is she…?
Elsa looks around the party. The dancers are dancing in the center while the music plays. It’s a festive sight.
ELSA
Man, I wish I appreciated this more at the time.
Elsa sees Anna standing awkwardly amidst the dancers as the Duke of Weselton dances around her.
ELSA
There he is: the guy who started this whole thing.
For a brief second, Elsa thinks about killing the duke, but remembers her mission. She sneaks her way to a doorway’s threshold, on the other side being an empty hall where she and Anna can talk privately. She waits for the music to end and the clapping to subside.
ELSA
(Quietly)
Psst! Anna!
Anna looks over, seeing Elsa in the hall.
ANNA
(Confused)
Elsa?
Anna walks quickly over to Elsa, who gestures for her to come quickly.
ANNA
Elsa, what are you wearing??
Elsa pulls Anna into the hall and shuts the door. Elsa looks Anna over for a minute, tears in her eyes, then hugs her tightly.
ELSA
I can’t believe I’m seeing you again!
Anna hugs Elsa back, almost crying.
ANNA
I haven’t hugged you in years!
ELSA
Okay, here’s the thing: I need you to come with me.
ANNA
Wait a sec. Tell me now, why were you hiding in your room our WHOLE CHILDHOOD?
ELSA
It was because of this.
Elsa makes a snowflake in her hand, spinning it around slowly and adding tiny ice crystals all over it.
ANNA
Whoa. You can do that?!
ELSA
Yeah. Yeah, I can. Now, this is gonna be a lot, but when we were little, I accidentally hit you in the head with some ice, then Pabbie took out the ice and made you forget I ever had powers.
ANNA
Whoa. That’s…
ELSA
A lot, I know.
ANNA
Can’t say you didn’t warn me. Now, let’s get back out to the party.
ELSA
I… can’t.
ANNA
Well, why not?
ELSA
You’re coming with me to the present.
ANNA
Wait, what?
ELSA
Okay, this is complicated and all, but you…
ANNA
I what?
ELSA
… You died, so I kind of timetraveled back to here to bring you back. You’re coming with me.
ANNA
Uh, what do you mean? You’re supposed to be at the party, not wearing this weird getup.
ELSA
Anna, please! Come with me!
ANNA
You can’t be Elsa. The Elsa that I think and want to know wouldn’t know all this stuff. No offense.
ELSA
None taken, but come with me!
At this moment, the doors swing open. A couple guards are there.
GUARD #1
Princess Anna! There you are!
GUARD #2
(To Elsa)
Back off, Queen… Elsa?
Anna looks out at the party with the doors open, and her own timeline’s Elsa is at the party. She looks back at this Elsa.
ANNA
There’s two of you.
GUARD #1
It’s a witch!
GUARD #2
Let the princess go.
ELSA
(Putting her hands up)
I’m not a witch.
GUARD #2
Come, princess Anna, let’s get you back to the party.
ANNA
(To Elsa)
If you were really Elsa, you wouldn’t be wearing that. Because Elsa is wearing a green dress and a black shirt and a purple cape. Simple.
ELSA
Anna, please!
Guard #2 takes Anna back to the party.
GUARD #1
(To Elsa)
You, imposter, come with us.
ELSA
Where are you taking me?
GUARD #2
Prison.
ELSA
(Aware of her power)
Fine. Take me away.
ALTERNATE TIMELINE ELSA
(Once Anna’s back with her)
He was sprightly.
ANNA
Especially for a man in heels.
Guard #2 leads Elsa away, through the halls and down lots of steps, to a dark dungeon, throwing her in it.
GUARD #2
The queen will deal with you later.
ELSA
Or maybe I’ll-- she’ll have ice powers, accidentally reveal them, run away into the mountains, make a giant ice castle, and freeze Anna’s heart.
GUARD #2
That is… concerningly specific.
ALTERNATE TIMELINE ELSA
(Muffled, from upstairs)
I said ENOUGH!!
Shards of ice and freezing ice sounds are heard through the ceiling.
ELSA
*Smiles slyly*
GUARD #2
(Running upstairs, his voice trailing off)
If you’re right…
Meanwhile, the MI team arrives in Washington, D.C with Anna’s body. They take it to a lab to remove some of her cells to study them. President Jones is present.
ETHAN
(To the president)
President Jones, we got her. She’s your team’s from here.
PRESIDENT JONES
Thank you, Ethan. Your team comes through in the clutch again.
ETHAN
Yeah, well, it’s what we do.
Here’s where the camera would zoom in on Anna’s forehead, then go inside her head to what looks like an astral plane. Pitch black everywhere. In the center is Anna, perfectly lit, but shedding no light on her surroundings. See also: Mater in “Cars 2”.
ANNA
(Her voice echoing)
Hello?
No answer.
ANNA
(To herself)
Am I dead?
A BRITISH OLD MAN’S VOICE
Yes, you are dead.
ANNA
Who are you? Are you my conscience?
PALPATINE fades into appearance in front of Anna.
PALPATINE
No. I am Darth Sidious, lord of the Sith. The Dark Side of the Force will rule the multiverse. Our knowledge simply could not fathom parallel universes, back when the Jedi were still alive.
ANNA
Whatever. Wait, if I’m dead, then where am I? Why am I able to talk? Is this purgatory? No, it can’t be, that’s just a money-making propaganda. Propagandum? Is that the singular form?
PALPATINE
Be quiet, girl. Listen to what I have to say.
ANNA
Sure…
PALPATINE
I have died before. Many, many, MANY times. Every time somebody kills me, my spirit takes over their body. I have lived in countless hosts for centuries, waiting until the right person came along to live in forever. That person is you. You are strong in the Force, Anna. Strong, but unlearned. More powerful in the Force than Vader. More powerful in the Force than I was. Now, kill me, and let the ritual take place!
ANNA
…
Wow. You know, that sounds really cool and all, but I’ve got more questions. Am I going to spend eternity here? How powerful does that make me? What does--
PALPATINE
Enough! Now, you shall die for good, Anna.
ANNA
Wait, “for good”??
Palpatine grabs a lightsaber, its red blade providing light. Anna feels for her own lightsaber, somehow finding it at her hip. She ignites it, seeing its pink blade illuminate the space around her, giving it a soft pink glow. Palpatine charges Anna, swinging with his lightsaber, but missing, and Anna swings hers in defense, slicing Palpatine IN HALF.
Suddenly, Anna feels a sharp pain in her head.
ANNA
Get out!
PALPATINE
(His voice, inside her head)
Surrender now! You have killed me! My spirit has passed on to you!
ANNA
Never! I’ll never surrender!
PALPATINE
(Insider her head)
It will be your death!
ANNA
No!!
Anna sees lightning sparking in her hands.
PALPATINE
(Inside her head)
No…!
Anna realizes she’s winning.
ANNA
(Confidently)
Get out of my head.
PALPATINE
(Not denying, but lamenting)
No!!!
ANNA
Ohh, yes. You said I’m strong in the Force. Well, feel it.
PALPATINE
I’m… my spirit is disintegrating! I’m dying! How?!
ANNA
Pure power, I guess.
PALPATINE
I’m… fading away… if I can’t live, the Sith plan WILL.
In the lab, Anna’s body is still dead. All kinds of equipment is being assembled and organized around her. Suddenly, she yells in pain. All lab techs jump back.
SOME LAB TECH
She’s alive!
Anna’s eyes wake in real life, not in the astral plane. Instead of being turquoise, her eyes are red. She hears Palpatine’s exhausted voice. No one else does.
PALPATINE’S EXHAUSTED VOICE
You… you have won, Anna. I will not live in you. I will die. But my ideas and knowledge are now… yours. You’re living again. Because you used… my style of power. The Dark Side of the Force… is… a pathway…
With that, Anna feels freedom in her mind.
PALPATINE IS DEAD.
Palpatine died from the struggle and exertion, but he was juuust able to pass on all his knowledge and ideas to Anna in the struggle. So, it’s Anna’s body, the same Anna we know, but with Palpatine’s knowledge and ideas.
ANNA
(Frustratedly)
Where am I?
SOME LAB TECH
Uh, Washington DC?
ANNA
Is Wanda Maximoff anywhere near here?
No answer from the confused techs.
ANNA
I said, is Wanda Maximoff anyway near here?!
Anna shoots lightning from her hands at each lab tech, not killing them, but taking them out of the equation.
ANNA
(To herself)
Palpatine was right. About everything. I’m strong in the Force. And his ideas were strong. The Sith will rule. But first, I’ve got some enemies to take out.
