To California
Within a few minutes, the Guardians (abbreviated GOTG), Elsa, and frozen Thor on the GOTG ship, flying through the stars. Elsa is sitting up front with Quill and Rocket.
ELSA
How will you travel through realms without a sling ring?
QUILL
Because of Arendelle’s place in the multiverse, there’s very specific jump points that we can go through. VERY specific. If we get it wrong, we’ll die.
ELSA
Wait, what?!
QUILL
Don’t worry, ‘cause I’m the best pilot in the--
Quill is interrupted by Rocket laughing.
QUILL
What are you laughing at?
ROCKET
This is the most humorous I’ve felt in a long time! You-you-you said YOU were the best pilot in the galaxy! Ah, that’s a good one.
QUILL
Well, I am, and this isn’t something to laugh about.
As Quill and Rocket argue, Gamora takes a seat next to Elsa.
GAMORA
They fight like this all the time. But they’re family, so they’ll get over it.
ELSA
Yeah. I know family and fighting all too well.
GAMORA
What you want to do is dangerous. It could make an infinite number of alternate realities.
ELSA
I’ll do anything to get Anna back.
GAMORA
What, are you gonna start singing like you’re a Disney princess now?
ELSA
What’s “Disney?”
GAMORA
You’ve got a lot to learn about the Earth.
ROCKET
Buckle up, everyone! We’ve reached the jump point!
The ship cruises on to a very small hexagon in the atmosphere.
QUILL
This is gonna get shaky!
GAMORA
You don’t have to tell us that.
QUILL
I know, but Elsa there’s probably never been through this jump. Have you?
ELSA
No…
QUILL
Okay, then. Buckle up.
The ship reaches the hexagon and starts shaking as it passes through. Rather than a pitch-black sky all around, the sky becomes mixes of pink and blue and purple. Wispy clouds are everywhere as the ship shakes violently. In the distance, a unicorn trots around. Lollipop flowers grow everywhere. The ship is shaking really hard now. Drax is literally going from the floor to the ceiling to the floor to the ceiling etc. After a few moments of this, they come out at the other side, into a normal outer-space setting.
QUILL
Is everyone okay?
ELSA
We’ll see.
DRAX
I am most certainly not okay!
GAMORA
I’ll go help him.
GROOT
I am Groot.
ROCKET
We know you have a headache from that! We all do!
Quill turns on the jets, and they zoom towards Earth, arriving within an hour. They touch down in a field just outside of Wakanda. Just Gamora and Elsa get out.
ELSA
Where am I?
GAMORA
You’re at Wakanda, where we can land without attracting too much attention from the feds.
ELSA
How do I, you know, go back in time?
GAMORA
Go to San Francisco. Find Scott Lang. Ask him about timetravel. He can tell you more.
OKOYE
(Waving in the distance)
Hello Gamora!
Gamora waves back.
GAMORA
(Continued)
Talk to Okoye about getting a ride. She’s the one who just waved to me.
ELSA
I will. Thank you for everything.
GAMORA
It’s a fair deal. What do you want us to do about Thor?
ELSA
We’ll leave him here in Kadanwa.
GAMORA
Wakanda.
ELSA
--Wakanda. Yeah.
GAMORA
See ya ‘round, Snow Queen.
Drax and Nebula throw the ice block containing Thor out of the ship and onto the ground. The ship then leaves, leaving Elsa with Thor.
Okoye approaches.
OKOYE
And who are you, might I ask?
ELSA
I’m Elsa. Gamora told me to talk to Okoye about getting a ride to San Francisco.
OKOYE
That is me. What will you offer in exchange for our invaluable services?
ELSA
I can give you Thor…?
OKOYE
He is in ice! How did this happen??
ELSA
I froze him. He kept trying to stop me from… going to San Francisco.
OKOYE
Well, he must have had a good reason.
ELSA
(Looking Thor in the eyes)
No, he did not.
THOR
(Still frozen)
*Looks at Elsa angrily*
OKOYE
Well, then, control over Thor will give us bargaining power, should the time ever come for it. I will take you to San Francisco.
Okoye takes Elsa and Thor into Wakanda to a hangar bay. Shuri is working on fixing up one particular ship.
OKOYE
Shuri! Is the ship almost complete?
SHURI
It is now. Who is this?
OKOYE
This is Elsa. I am taking her to San Francisco.
SHURI
Well, I hope we are getting something in return.
OKOYE
(Gesturing at Thor)
We are.
SHURI
Wow! Control over Thor! We can get some real power now!
OKOYE
That is the plan. We do not want dominance, just equality. If you will excuse us, we are headed off to San Francisco now.
SHURI
Fly safely.
OKOYE
Have you ever known me to fly unsafely?
SHURI
You do not want me answering that.
OKOYE
We will leave Thor with you.
Okoye and Elsa head into the ship. The cockpit is relatively thin, with room for the pilot at the front, obvs, but no one to sit next to them. There is a passenger’s seat behind it, tho, which Elsa occupies.
ELSA
What was all that? All that technology.
OKOYE
We have been blessed by God with a large supply of vibranium. We are foremost in the world with technology.
ELSA
It’s a lot.
OKOYE
Where are you from, Elsa?
ELSA
Arendelle, which is--
OKOYE
You were the one who rejoined it.
ELSA
...Yeah.
OKOYE
You should not have done that.
ELSA
I did it because I trusted my sister.
OKOYE
And where is your sister now?
ELSA
She’s dead. Killed by Gothel.
OKOYE
Gothel?
ELSA
Yeah, Gothel. What about her?
OKOYE
Wanda Maximoff killed her. She buried Gothel in Westview, where Gothel’s sister lives.
ELSA
Wow.
OKOYE
Well, it is what it is. A balance of power. Always tipping in one direction or the other.
ELSA
I guess you’re right.
Shortly thereafter, the pair arrives in San Francisco, touching down on the roof of an apartment building.
OKOYE
This is Scott Lang’s apartment building. He lives in room 207. Talk to him, and he can set you up with a place to stay while you are here.
ELSA
Thank you, Okoye.
OKOYE
A deal’s a deal.
Elsa gets out of the ship, and Okoye flies off. Elsa looks down over the roof, choosing to vault down but landing on her feet on ice that she makes to catch her about a story still up. She does this again to get to the ground. Meanwhile, a lot of civilians are staring at her. Elsa smiles sheepishly and runs inside the apartment building. She goes to the front counter, where Stan Lee is waiting in his cameo as the apartment manager.
ELSA
Hi, hi. Where can I find room 207?
STAN LEE
Up the stairs, head right, follow the signs. Say, you look like you’re from another branch of the parent company.
ELSA
Huh?
STAN LEE
Never mind. Off you go.
