Chapter 4
"Name of the patient," The nurse asked."Kit tanthalos," The nurse looked up in shock "Tanthalos?" Jade nodded. "Sorsha tanthalos' daughter?" Jade nodded.
Jade heard screams of Kit, she went in and saw Kit was being scared of the needles. "Kit, won't hurt, you won't feel a thing,"
"Fuck no!" Kit screamed. Jade tried to convince her for like half an hour until a bunch of doctors and nurses came in. "You can go now," one of the nurses said. "Are you sure?"
"Yes," Jade still didn't want to leave Kit alone but she did. When she left the room, a feminine voice said "How did she get hurt?" Jade turned around to see Sorsha Tanthalos herself.
Sorsha was eyeing her suspiciously as if she was the one who injured Kit. "She hit her arm with the sword," Jade replied her arm thumping against her chest. Jade for sure didn't want to spend her time in jail.
Sorsha brushed past her and walked in. She starts questioning, how did Sorsha know Kit was here. She looked through the glass on the door, Kit was sulking as she got injected while her mother was giving her an earful.
Jade felt bad for Kit, she was getting lectured because of Jade. Well not exactly Jade, she asked Kit not to play around with the sword. But she still felt a little guilty.
Kit dozed off and Sorsha was on her way out of the room so that they could start treating her wound. Jade moved aside and Sorsha came out of the room.
Sorsha sat on the waiting chair angrily cursing under her breath. Jade sat in the furthest chair as far as she could get from the woman. Yet Sorsha passed looks at Jade that screamed get out of here. Jade didn't want to—she wanted to be there for Kit.
After a while, Sorsha left somewhere and that's when the doctors came out. Jade rushed there and inquired. "Can I go in?"
"Sure," Jade opened the door and saw Kit laying there, staring into spaces. "Hi," Kit looked up and grinned "You're still here?"
"Why wouldn't I be?" Jade chuckled. Kit looked back at her arm "It would have been better if that sword had ripped my heart instead," She frowned as she touched her uninjured bicep. "Your biceps won't shrink,"
"What if it does Jade, and shit what if they had to chop off my arm, I would have to live with one set of biceps," Kit pouted. Jade rolled her eyes at the back of her head. "You won't understand yours are so big, it won't even matter if it shrank,"
Jade squeezed her lips together and her face heated. "I will leave now," Jade said when her eyes couldn't help but wander around Kit's body.
Jade went to Boorman's club for her shift. "Someone's late to their shift," Boorman bounced his eyebrows. "Surely not because of some date," Elora joined.
"It is not a date, we were just hanging out and I wasn't late because of that, Kit got hurt, I was in the hospital with her," Jade explained. "Aww, is she okay now?" Elora asked
"Yeah, her mother got there to take her so I left," Jade replied. "Hmm, how did she get hurt?" Boorman asks.
"She was swinging the sword around and got a got a cut on her arm," Boorman guffawed "Going to a hospital for a cut? A weak one you got there," Jade licked her lips and defended Kit. "It was a really deep cut, she lost a lot of blood, she didn't even wince at the pain, it was me who called the ambulance for her—"
"We get it, Jade," Elora said and Boorman looked at her with a smirk. Jade rolled her eyes and went behind the counter. She worked until 11:30 before calling it a day. She was so drained today, she was on her way out of the club when Boorman stopped her.
She saw Kit's brother standing next to Boorman. She went by and he asked "Jade right?" She nodded. "I am Airk, Kit's brother, Is my sister with you?"
"Do you see her around Jade?" Boorman asked. Airk held her hand "Kit is not at home, I searched everywhere she could be, Mom is already pretty mad at her, if she finds out Kit is out this late—please if you know anything or she contacts you, let me know,"
"Have you tried calling her?"
"She left her phone at the house,"
"I will help you look," Jade offered seeing the tensed boy. "I would help too," Elora said. "You and Boorman should team up and search,"
"Who said I wanted to help?" Boorman said. "My friend, Graydon is also searching for kit, she can search with him," Elora nodded and they all left the club.
"Hold up, kids," Boorman walked in between them with a crooked smile. "I am coming along,"
They divided and searched around for Kit for hours. It was three in the morning and they found no sign of kit. Jade wasn't affected by it before but it was stressing her out now. Kit could be in danger. They all regrouped and Airk said "Thank you guys, we all should head home, I am too, if my mom wakes up and finds both of us missing, she is gonna freak out,"
"We can't Airk, God knows what would Kit be facing right now," Jade said. "Yes I know that's why I am gonna tell Mom, she will contact the cops, and we will find her sooner,"
"I agree," Graydon commented. The two boys left, leaving only the three friends. "We should go home as well," Boorman said. "You guys should go, I will search a little longer,"
"Jade," Boorman said. "You have barely known her for two days, don't you think you are caring a little too much for her"
"It's not about the crush thing, it's about a person being missing, if it were anyone else I would have done the same, and you guys know it," Jade explained.
Boorman smiled warmly. "We know," Elora and Boorman left and Jade searched around in her car a little longer. She went to some nearby clubs as well to check. A little later, she got a text from Elora.
