It’s been 4 weeks since Kate and Lucy said their goodbyes at the airport, and it's been 3 weeks since Marcella and Kate last talked.

Kate and Lucy have been goin’ strong over this first month of her being gone. Of course, they have their little moments when they fight about something ridiculous, then makeup after less than ten minutes but they are used to it, fighting doesn't always mean you hate each other or are angry with each other, it can also be about the tiniest thing in the words really. A long-distance relationship doesn't always mean the couple will fall apart when they are away from each other, and Lucy and Kate are the proof of that.

Even though it's been a while since Kate last heard from Marcella herself, it doesn't mean she hadn't heard of her from Lucy, “She’s constantly stuck to me, I don't know what to do. I tried to talk to her but she never listens.” Lucy told her just last week.

Kate’s jealousy has grown more and more since Marcella spoke with her while Lucy was not around. She promised herself she would be better considering she's the one Lucy is going to come back home to, but the thought of Marcella anywhere near Lucy every day has got to her head. The blonde just wants her girlfriend back.

While Lucy was on the boat, The team constantly invited Kate to hang around with them. It was never a situation where she didn't have someone to be with, not even for one day. Sometimes it was only Kai, sometimes it was only Jesse, sometimes it was Jesse with his family, sometimes it was Jane, and sometimes it was all of them at Tennant’s house, them just having fun and celebrating solving another case. Although most of the time it was Kate in Tennant’s house, Alex and Julie almost always were at their dad's house but when they were home, the blonde loved talking with them. They would watch a movie or an episode of ”the chosen”. Every time they watched an episode of that show, Alex and Julie always talked about how the actress who played Ramah looked so much like Lucy, it made Kate laugh cause she remembered how Lucy would say the same thing about that actress in the movie “Return to Christmas creek”. But as much as Kate had fun being a part of this family, she ALWAYS thought about Lucy. What was Lucy doing? Is Marcella with her right now? Is Lucy doing ok on the boat? The only time Lucy wasn’t on her mind was when she went on the field with the FBI.

Wednesday started as a normal day but ended up being kind of a crazy day on the field, Kate spent most of the day with the NCIS team. The team split in two while they were chasing a suspect, Whistler and Tennant, and Kai and Jesse.

It took them less than fifteen minutes to catch the guy, it took them another half an hour to get him in custody and return to the bullpen.

“So today was a crazy day huh,” Jesse started, “how are you guys doing?” he asked.

“Fine, I mean we are all kind of used to it aren't we?” Kate replied.

“Yeah, I guess we are,” he mumbled, “Oh btw, Whistler, how's Lucy doing? I tried calling her like four times but she didn't answer.” Jesse said.

“She’s fine, the only time we talk is when she calls me so don't worry about her not picking up, also even when we do talk Marcella is always there, this girl doesn't give us a break,” Kate said, clearly frustrated.

“Did Lucy tell her to back off?” Kai asked.

“She did but she didn't listen,” the blonde replied.

They didn't continue talking about it cause before anyone got the chance to reply, Ernie exited his lab and came to the bullpen.

“Hey, guys, why didn't you leave yet? It’s past 8 already.” The cyber reminded them.

“Yeah, we know Ernie, we just talked a little before going home,” Tennant told the computer specialist.

“Got it.” he said with a nod, then turned to the FBI agent, “Hey, Kate, did Lucy talk to you in the past 24 hours?” he asked.

“Yeah, she did. why?”

“Never mind, it's just that I only talked to her once since she left Hawai’i and that was a week ago.”

“Wait, you talked to Lucy?” Jesse cut in.

“Yeah, I did. Why do you ask?”

“She just didn't call me at all since the airport.”

“Don't worry, she's been really busy and only calls me when she can. I'm sure she wants to talk to you but can't.” the blonde said.

“Yeah. She didn't call me either so I guess she is really busy.” Kai said this time.

“Wait really? Boss, did you get a chance to talk to her?” Jesse turned to Jane.

“Yes, I did but that's only because I called her at 5 am, for her it was midnight and she was about to go to sleep.” she informed, “Jesse, Don't take it personally when she doesn't call you, ok? The only person she's constantly talking to is Kate, and you know why.”

“Yeah, you're right,” he murmured, then he turned back to Kate, “Hey, when you talk to her again, tell her we all love and miss her, ok?”

“Of course, Jesse.” the blonde replied, smiling at Jesse.

They all continued to talk for a while until it was time to go home, Kai, Jesse and Ernie already said goodbye and walked away and Kate was about to do the same when Jane stopped her, “Hey, Kate, do you want to come by to my place? The kids are with their dad and I'm lonely by myself.” Tennant asked.

“Yeah, sure,” Kate said, smiling.

Kate and Jane arrived at her house with Tennant’s car since they agreed on Kate staying over and there was no point in moving Kate’s car when she will just arrive with Jane to work the next day.

“Wine?” Tennant asked as Kate sat at the balcony.

“Sure,” the blonde replied.

The special agent got a bottle of wine out of the fridge and sat next to Kate, “the last time we sat like this was last year, remember? We both went through a tough time then.” Tennant recalled.

“Yeah, I remember.”

“I'm glad we both got better, and I'm glad you and Lucy solved your problems, I love you both and I'm glad you found each other,” Jane said, sending a smile to her best friend.

“Thank you, Jane.” the blonde said, the girls clocked their glasses of wine together and drank a little.

“So, how are you and Lucy doing?” Tennant asked.

“We are doing ok, I guess, but we can hardly even talk without me needing to leave for work or her needing to complete her duties on that ship, or even worse, without Marcella getting in our way every time Lucy is calling me.” the blonde confessed.

“Is Marcella giving you girls a hard time? How many times has this girl interrupted you both?” Jane asked.

“Almost every time Lucy is calling, you can count on the fact that Marcella is going to be there. 3 weeks ago Lucy wasn't in their room and she picked up the phone when I called Lucy, she started talking about their time together when they were in high school, then she started bragging about how she's the one who gets to spend those four months with Lucy while I'm here.”

“Did you try to talk to Lucy about this?” her friend asked.

“Not really, I mean she did tell me how Marcella doesn't give her a break and how she is constantly glued to her side, the only time she leaves her on her own is when Lucy is in the bathroom.”

“Ok, did Lucy try to talk to her? To tell her she is uncomfortable and she wants her to leave her alone? Tennant asked.

“Lucy tried to tell her to back off a little but every time she tries to have a conversation with her, Marcella does everything to change the topic. She doesn't want to listen, no matter what Lucy does.” the blonde explained.

“Ok, how about you and Lucy talk first and you tell her how you don't like the way Marcella is too close to her? Tell her the truth, you don't want your girlfriend to be glued to someone else, even if it's the other person’s fault. Talk to Lucy, and you will see how your problem will be solved.” Jane said, and just like always, Kate was glad she has her best friend who she can count on to talk to when needed.

The rest of the night went quiet, the girls talked, then watched some episode of Love is Blind, went to sleep and got to work the next day happy and satisfied.

A week passed after Kate and Jane’s little talk, and while Kate was doing some thinking, Lucy was on the other side on a huge boat.

The weather in Singapore was hot, Lucy felt like she was melting most of the time.

Marcella being glued to her all the time didn't help either, the girl didn't leave her for a second unless it was to the shower or bathroom. Lucy tried to talk with the woman but Marcella always found a way to change the subject.

As much as it annoyed Lucy, Kate was always there for her when she needed to talk, or just missed her girlfriend. Their talk always got cut off by one of the agent’s there needing her or Kate got a call from ASAC Curtis.

It was Friday evening and Kate was invited to Kai’s house to eat with his family. Kate was getting ready when her phone rang, she looked at her phone to see Lucy was calling her.

The blonde remembered her conversation with Tennant as she was about to pick up the phone. Ok, time to talk Kate said to herself.

“Hey, sweetie! How are you?” Kate answered with such a happy tone.

“I’m great! Are you doing ok today? Did the team give you any trouble?”

“No,” the blonde replied, giggling a bit, “they are all keeping me busy to distract me from thinking about you, but you are never leaving my mind, Lucy Tara,” she responded, and even though Lucy couldn't see her, Kate’s heart eyes that were reserved only for one person made an appearance.

“Well I'm glad to hear this but Kate, please do not stop yourself from having fun just because we are not together right now. I want you to keep smiling and be happy when you are with them AND most especially when you are alone.” Lucy said in a serious tone, Lucy rarely talks with Kate like this, and Kate knows when Lucy talks to her like that, it is very serious for the small agent. so the blonde knew she really meant it.

“I will Lucy, the team has been making me very happy since you were gone. I've been finding myself laughing so much when I'm with them, they always make me feel like I'm a part of this family. I promise you I am smiling when I'm with other people, I'm smiling when I'm with the team and I'm smiling when I'm alone, ok?” That was a lie, Kate always found herself getting lonely when was alone, but she wasn't going to worry Lucy more so she just continued the conversation, “Don't worry about me, worry about your part on the ship. I'm ok here, I promise sweetie.” the blonde soothed.

“Yeah, ok. I just don't want you to feel like you are alone there, I feel lonely here even though I share a room with fifty more people, I don't want you to feel the same.” Lucy paused for a moment and asked what she wanted to since they began their phone call, she switched from serious to happy in a second, “Anyways, it is about 5 pm over there right? Did the team invite you to their house for dinner?” the brunette asked.

“Oh yes, Kai invited me to his house to eat with Hina and his dad, I'm getting ready as we speak actually. What about you? Are you going to dinner soon on that boat?”

“Kate, it’s 11 am here. We already ate breakfast and in a few hours, we are going to eat lunch. You can set your phone so you’ll know what the time is for me if you want, it’s not a problem.” Lucy informed her.

“How do I do that?” the FBI agent asked.

“Just get out of this chat, but don't hang up, go to an app called “clock” on your phone, there is a setting called “world clock” there, just press the plus button and search Singapore. You will find it there and it will be easier for you to know when to call me if you are not sure about the time zone.” the small agent said.

Just as Kate was about to reply, Marcella interrupted their call. AGAIN. “Hey is that Kate you’re talking to? Oh my god, hi, Kate! It’s been a while since we talked.” Marcella said, and once again, Kate found herself getting irritated.

Ughh why now? We were having fun talking until you came Kate thought to herself, “Hey Marcella, yeah it's been a while since we talked, how are you doing?” Kate asked in a sarcastic tone both she and Marcella heard, Lucy on the other hand, just thought Kate was genuinely interested to know.

“I’m good! What about you Kate, how are you?”

“I’m fine.” the blonde replied.

Lucy interrupted their bickering when she felt Marcella was about to say something which was not in her place, “Hey, Kate, shouldn't you go to Kai already? When did he say to come to his house?” she asked the blonde.

At that moment, Kate got a little hurt about the way Lucy wanted to hang up, and the blonde’s jealousy got the best of her. “Yeah, I should. Thank you, Lucy, I will talk to you later ok? I love you.” not giving Lucy any time to respond Kate ended their talk. A million feelings went through her mind. She felt herself getting angry about the whole thing so before she did anything irrational, she put her phone on the dresser and continued dressing up. If only the blonde knew the brunette only ended their call like that because of her ex being inappropriate.

Whistler arrived at Kai’s house an hour after finishing the call with Lucy, she didn't know whether she was angry or jealous, all she knew was that her mood was off at the moment. Luckily Kai and his family were about to change that.

She got out of the car and climbed the little stars to his house, “Hey Kate! Welcome to the Holman’s house.” Kai greeted.

“Hey, thank you,” the former DIA agent started, “Wow, this house is lovely!” she said with a genuine smile on her face.

“Yeah, it's not much but it's enough for us.” Wally Holman, Kai’s dad said, “It is nice to meet you, Kate.” Wally said, then he and Kate shook hands.

“It’s nice to meet you as well, sir.” Kate replied but Mr. Holmam stopped her, “No need to be formal, it's just Wally.” the elder smiled at her.

“It’s nice to meet you, Wally.” the blonde fixed herself, she was about to greet Hina when Anoki came from the backyard. A toy was in his mouth but the puppy dropped it to greet the new person coming to his house. The cute dog ran towards the blonde, jumping to get a few pets from her. “Ohhh, you are such a cutie! Who’s a good boy?” Kate played with Anoki a little before saying hey to Hina.

“I remember seeing you from the porch back in Jane’s house last year, winning your girl back. Where is she by the way?” Hina asked, looking at the door as they sat down on the couch.

“She’s overseas, being an agent of float on an airship carrier.” the blonde explained.

The girls talked for a while and Kate opened up about the whole Marcella thing. “Wait, let me see if I got it right, your girlfriend’s ex is on the same boat as your girlfriend, sharing the same room and the same bed and you are ok with that?” The brunette asked.

“It’s not the same bed and It doesn't really matter, it's not like she chose this herself anyways, the agents don't know who's with them there until a meeting 2 weeks before they need to transfer,” Kate said.

“Ok, but it doesn't mean you can't be jealous over the fact your girlfriend is with her ex right now, and by what you told me I’d say she's trying to steal your girl from you. Kate, you gotta talk to Lucy, she needs to set boundaries with this Marcella girl.”

“Trust me, I tried to talk to Lucy but Marcella keeps interrupting us, and every time Lucy tries to talk with her, Marcella changes the subject again. Lucy tried a few times but it didn't work.” Kate explained.

“Ok, then Lucy needs to force her to listen. If this girl doesn't want to listen when Lucy is being nice to her, she will listen by force. There's no other choice here.”

Kate was about to reply but Kai called them for dinner, “guys, come on it's time to eat.” he said.

The rest of the evening went smoothly, Wally and Hina were inside cleaning the table while Kate was outside, she tried to help but Mr. Holam didn't let her. So she found herself outside playing with Anoki. Kai finished helping Hina and his dad clean the kitchen, went outside, and joined his friend, “Hey,” the boy greeted. Kate gave him a smile and continued to play with the dog.

“I’m glad you came here, My dad and Hina really like you,” Kai said.

“I'm glad to hear this, I like them too.” the blonde replied.

They both played with Anoki until Kai started to talk again, “Hey how’s Lucy doing? Did she throw up already from getting too close to the deck?” he said, laughing.

The blonde laughed hearing this, “No, she was actually able to get closer to the deck without vomiting! That's a development right?”

“Yeah, I guess it is,” Kai said while still laughing.

“You miss her though, don't you,” it wasn't a question, he knew the answer already.

“Yeah I do, even though you all try to distract me and get me to have fun, I still miss her, don't get me wrong, I really am thankful for all of you, but I feel like my heart doesn't let me rest. Since we said goodbye at the airport I've been having trouble sleeping. I only eat when I'm with you guys because Tennant forces me to, and she tells me she’ll tell Lucy if I haven't eaten and I don't want her to worry so I just do it. Plus Lucy told me she wants me to be happy without her, but I can't, so in the end I'm lying to her about this. I'm happy when I'm with you but whenever I come back home, I just feel lonely again.” Whistler confessed.

“I get it, I may not be in a relationship right now but I was in the past, we were having a long-distance relationship like you and Lucy are having and my friends tried to cheer me up by going to a lot of parties, and they succeeded, but when I came back home, I felt lonely again, so I get you. Love is hard, but it's worth it,” he said.

“It’s not just that though, there's also this thing with Marcella, she is constantly glued to Lucy’s side, and Lucy told me she's very annoyed by that but Marcella doesn't care. She tries to separate us and I know it.”

“Can I ask you something?” Kai said.

“Yes, of course.” the blonde replied.

“Do you trust Lucy?” he asked.

“Of course I do, it's Marcella that I don't trust. This girl has been on my radar since the airport. A week after Lucy and her flew to Singapore she answered a call I made for Lucy on the excuse of Lucy not being around at the time. All she did was try to make me jealous over the fact that Lucy is with her right now and not with me. That she's sleeping in the same room as Lucy and I'm stuck here.”

“Ok, so maybe Lucy needs to make her listen and tell her that they are never going to happen. She needs to tell her that she has a girlfriend and she's making her uncomfortable by being with her all of the time.” Kai responded.

Kate let out a little laugh which Kai did not understand, “why are you laughing?” he asked.

“Just Because Hina said something similar to you a few hours ago. You two really are siblings.” Kate said, a smile found itself on both Kai's and Kate’s faces.

Kate and Kai spent a few more hours playing with Anoki, with Wally and Hina joining them later. Kate said her goodbye around 10 pm that night, it was late and she just got back home.

She was debating whether she should call Lucy after everything that happened today but it seemed like Lucy already thought of that and called her instead, “Hey, I'm sorry to call this late but I just wanted to say I'm sorry, after you hanged up I realize that it bothered you how I tried to get you to end our chat, but it was only because Marcella was being inappropriate and I didn’t want her to say anything that will ruin your mode,” the brunette explained.

“It’s ok Lucy, I guess I'm just jealous over the fact that she's there with you and I'm here, I know you meant well sweetie and I want to apologize for the way I reacted as well, my jealousy got the best of me and I got angry at you instead of taking a breath and calming myself down. I'm sorry I acted this way.” the blonde apologized.

“I’m glad to hear you are ok now, how was the dinner at Kai’s? Did you have fun there? Did he treat you well?”

“Yes, the dinner went amazing, Kai’s dad and Hina really welcomed me with open arms. Their dog is so cute Lucy he is adorable!” Kate said in excitement.

“I’m happy to know you liked Anoki, he's probably the only dog I actually like besides Ernie’s puppy,” Lucy responded, they both laughed as the conversation went on, this time their talk was not ruined by Marcella or cut off by Kate or Lucy’s boss.

The two just talked and laughed with each other until Kate was tired enough that she couldn't help but yawn, which made Lucy laugh, “Well I think your brain is telling you to go to sleep,” Lucy said.

“No, no I'm good, keep talking.” Kate tried to argue but Lucy didn't let her.

“Babe, I know you want to keep talking but you can get sick from not having enough sleep, ok? Please hang up and go to sleep yourself, we can always talk Kate, ok? Please get some rest, your body needs it.”

Hearing how Lucy was worried the blonde would be ill, Kate accepted her girlfriend’s wish, “Ok, I will talk to you tomorrow ok? I love you, goodnight Lucy.” Kate said, this time she waited for Lucy to respond.

“Goodnight Kate, I love you too. Never forget it.” and with that, the couple hung up, Kate went to sleep and Lucy returned to complete her duties as agent of float.
