Chapter 2
The entire drive back was completely quiet, just Kate and her thoughts were heard.
It didn't take Kate a long time to return home, Barely 20 minutes after they said goodbye.
As soon as she got home, she went to her bedroom and just layed down, thoughts immediately started running through her head, uncontrollably. saying goodbye to Lucy was the second hardest thing she has ever had to do, the first one was saying goodbye to Noah.
When her brother died, she felt like she just lost her entire world. Noah was her big brother, he was the only one who truly understood and accepted her as she was. Yes, her parents accepted her and loved her regardless but Kate and Noah's relationship was like no other. And everyone close to the siblings knew it.
Noah was the only person Kate went to when she had a problem with something, someone or just any problem she had. she would've gone to him. She trusted her brother with everything.
When he told her he needed to go to Iraq for a mission, her entire world stopped. She was 19 at college and it was Saturday evening, she wanted him to promise her he would come back, but they both knew he couldn't promise that. What he did promise her, was that he would fight for her, for their family, to come back home safely. Unfortunately life is full of surprises. They said goodbye at the airport with their parents crying non-stop.
After getting the news of Noah's death, Kate put up her walls. She became a cold person who only cared about getting her job done, She closed herself off for 12 years. That was until one day she needed to be in Hawaii for the weekend for a meeting. It was midnight, and She walked into a bar she found on the way to her hotel. She entered the bar and sat there to eat dinner. As she was sitting there, waiting for her food to arrive, this young brunette woman came to her and started talking to her.
Back then Kate just thought it was just going to be a 2 nightstand and she would never see that Woman again, little did the blonde know this woman would turn out to be the love of her life.
Her thoughts got interrupted by a little "ding" from her phone, Tennant just texted her saying she was needed at the bullpen.

The flight to Singapore took 17 hours, the entire flight Marcella was trying to flirt with Lucy, even though she knew Lucy had a girlfriend.
As soon as Lucy got on the ship, the boss wanted everyone for a meeting on board, to let them know who sleeps with who and where.
"Alright. Lucy Tara, Marcella Geller, you two will share a bunk bed together." The aircraft carrier boss informed them.
Lucy's expression went from excited to frowning in seconds. Sure, she liked Marcella and held no grudges for her ex-girlfriend, but she knew Kate would be jealous if she finds out her girlfriend is sharing a bunk bed with her ex.
"Isn't it fun? We get to share a bed together!" Marcella said in excitement.
"Yeah, super fun." Lucy faked a smile and both girls went to the bunk room, which was full with over fifty people. They all shared the same room, just different beds.
Lucy just had dinner with a lot of people on the boat and met some new friends. There were a few groups each time since there were over 1,000 people on this aircraft carrier.
Marcella was constantly stuck to her, in the dining room, in the meeting on board, in their bunk room, EVERYWHERE.
Lucy was getting annoyed but thought Marcella just wanted to get to know her "present" personality and catch up with her on their lives so she let it go.
Unfortunately Marcella did not stop bugging her even when it was time to eat.

It's been 7 days since Lucy and Kate said their goodbyes. And even though the team always makes sure to keep Kate busy with them, Kate always thinks about Lucy. The brunette never leaves the blonde's mind.
It was 10 pm and Kate just got back home from a tiring day at work, she went to her bedroom and layed down. She took her phone and unlocked it. She checked the time in Singapore to see if she could call Lucy now or if it was too late for her but it was only 4 pm there, the blonde went to her contacts and scrolled until she found her girlfriend's name and dialed it.
Although it was an afternoon for Lucy she had work to do on the boat, therefore, she wasn't in the room when Kate called, Marcella, on the other hand, was there. When Lucy's phone began to ring, Marcella just went to the brunette's bed and looked to see who was calling, when she saw Kate's name, she felt herself smiling because of an idea that just came to her mind. Although Marcella genuinely didn't know Lucy was going to be on the same boat as her when she first heard of this opportunity, as soon as she was informed at the meeting in Hawaii, all she did was plan a way for her and Lucy to get back together. Not even caring about the fact that she saw Lucy and Kate kissing in Kate’s car after the meeting. When she came to the airport and Lucy told her about Kate and introduced the two, she started to think of a plan to break Kate and Lucy up.
So when she saw that Kate was calling Lucy and the small agent was nowhere around, she took the opportunity and answered the phone.
"Hi, Luce." Kate said with both a tired and sweet tone, "How are you handling yourself there sweetie?"
"Hi! I'm sorry, it's Kate, right? Lucy isn't here and I couldn't find her,” the girl lied through her teeths, “so I answered instead." Marcella responded.
"I'm sorry, who am I talking to?" Kate asked, confused.
"Oh right, sorry. My name is Marcella, we met at the airport right before our flight."
"Marcella? You're Lucy's ex-girlfriend right?" The blonde asked. She knew exactly who Marcella was but she was still jealous over the whole thing and wanted to play a little bit.
"Yes, that's right. It was nice to meet you at the airport. I'm glad Lucy has someone who loves her now, when we broke up in high school I didn't see her at all after because we went to a different college, so I'm really happy to know she has someone right now." The "right now" was said very clearly in sort of an evil tone, for Kate to realize she's going to steal her girl.
Kate decided to move past Marcella's tone and get back at her by telling her how Lucy is hers now, "Thank you, I'm glad she had someone who MADE her happy when she was younger. Don't worry, I make her VERY happy and I have every intention to continue to be her happiness."
"I'm glad to hear this, it’s really fun being around Lucy again, we really came closer on this ship, did she tell you how we spend all day and night talking to each other non-stop? It's really great speaking to her again, I really missed that." The girl said, this was of course a lie, Lucy barely talked to Marcella since getting to this ship, but Marcella loved making Kate jealous. “Well anyways, I have to go but do you want me to tell Lucy you called?" she asked.
"No, it's ok. I will talk to her myself later. Goodbye Marcella, it was really nice to hear from you again." Kate said in a sarcastic tone that both she and Marcella understood.
Kate hung up and went to sleep but not before sending a very cute goodnight message for Lucy to see before she'll go to sleep herself.
A few minutes after the phone call ended Lucy walked into their room, Marcella was already off Lucy's bed and laid down on her own bed.
Lucy climbed the little stairs and unlocked her phone, she knew the time in Hawaii and wanted to say goodnight to her girlfriend before she go to sleep, she went to her contact, and a little frown was on her face when she saw an answered call from Kate "that's weird, I wasn't here 10 minutes ago." she thought.
"Hey, Marcella, did Kate call my phone ten minutes ago?" Lucy asked.
"Oh yeah, I couldn't find you so I answered it and told her you weren't here."
"And it didn't cross your mind to let me know my girlfriend called me?" Lucy was starting to get annoyed.
"Well, I asked her if she wanted me to let you know she called, but she said it was ok and she'll just talk to you when you are available," Marcella responded.
"Ok, and why exactly did you pick up the phone? Did I say you can touch my property without my permission?"
"No, you're right. I'm sorry, it's just that your phone was ringing and when I saw it was Kate I didn't want her to get worried. That's all," she replied.
"Ok, thank you for thinking about Kate but next time please do not touch my stuff without me telling you, got it?" Lucy said.
"Got it. No problem. sorry again." Marcella apologized
Later that day, Lucy was getting ready to sleep when she opened her phone and saw Kate's sweet goodnight message.
From: Kate ❣️
"Hey, Lucy, I hope you are doing ok there and no one gives you any trouble, I know you will kick their ass if they will. I want you to know that I'm ok here. Today Jesse asked me to join him with Heather and the kids for a fun day at the beach. Gracie and I talked for a long time and Jake and I played ping pong. Jesse's wife is a sweetheart. His family welcomed me with so much love. I felt really happy all day. I missed you regardless, nothing can make me happier than you are. Even though it's been only a week, I miss you everyday more and more. I love you, Lucy Tara, always and forever. Goodnight my sweet. 😘💕"
Lucy's face went from sad for missing her girlfriend so much to happy and smiling in an instant. She took her phone and put it closer to her heart, and fell asleep with Kate's voice in her head "I'm not going anywhere."
