Jaylah Book One

The group of mutants and Moira are in the Jet. Charles had already seen that the men on the Russian boat were all dead.

"-but I still can't find Shaw."

"He's down there. We need to find him Now!" Erik, who is strapped into a seat next to Alex, says.

"Hank?" Charles asks the pilot. 

Turning to Moira, Hank asks: "Is there anything unusual on the radar or scanners?"

Said woman looks at the many panels around her. "No. Nothing."

"Well, then he must be under water. And obviously, we don't have sonar."

Jaylah looks up and at Sean. "Yes, we do." they both say in unison. "Yes, we do," Charles confirms and pulls his headset off.

Erik does the same as Sean and Charles start walking towards the end of the Jet.

"Hank! Level the bloody plane!" Charles yells in his British accent. He does as told.

"Whoa, you back right off." Sean points accusingly at Erik as he follows Sean and Charles to the back. The Metal bender lifts both hands in surrender, a smirk on his face.

Sean yelled something to Hank that Ava couldn't understand and shortly after, two doors on the bottom of the jet opened, making the hair of Sean and Charles fly up.

Charles proceeded to yell something at Sean over the loud wind. 'Why doesn't he use his mutation for that?' Ava asked herself, shaking her head.

Charles points to his temple and seems to be wishing him good luck or something. He counts down from three and Sean jumps down.

Ava can't see him anymore but she hears his faint scream and since Charles can read his mind, she guesses that he's not dead.

A few minutes later, Charles turns to Erik. "Banshee's got a location on Shaw. You ready for this?"

Erik nods, a grim expression on his face. "Let's find out."

Hank turns the Jet and opens doors that are more in front than the ones Sean jumped out. He also lets down the wheels of the jet so Erik can stand on the front pair.

Charles looks down at his friend but the rest of the group have no clue whats happening. It seems to have worked though because Ava can see a submarine, flying into the air as she looks out of the window. 

What will the military forces think of this? Well, to be frank, Ava doesn't really care. Not her planet, not her government.

Ava continues to look out of the window and what looks to be a man, climbs out of the silver submarine. Moments later a tornado flies towards Erik. The tornado at the facility must have also been caused by this mutant.

Charles yells at Erik to take his hand as Hank tells both to hold on. The Jet is now in the center (the eye?) of the tornado.

The team holds on to everything they can and Ava sees the Submarine crash against the beach of Cuba.

Charles again screams that Erik should take his hand, which the stubborn mutant hopefully did. Not that Ava could see that since they are now spun around wildly an Erik is still outside.

With a loud crash, the jet lands or rather falls onto the beach.

Charles, who hasn't got anything to hold on, falls to the ground and threatens to slip away but Erik, who is now in the jet, lays down on top of his friend and uses his metal powers to secure boh to the bottom of the jet but somehow a piece of metal got loose from the ship. It hits Ava at the head.

The jet rolls around a few more times and then comes to a halt. The last thing Ava sees is that Erik carefully levitates himself down, till he's lying on the floor, Charles on top of him with their faces upwards. Then she passes out.

Ava gets shaken awake by Moira. "Are you okay?" she asks. Ava nods although she's not sure if that's true. 

As she looks around, she sees that only Moira and Charles are still in the Jet. "Where are the others?" she asks but Moira only looks at her strangely.

Ava repeats her question but there is still no answer. As she is about to repeat it again, the notices whats wrong. She holds up a finger to show Moira that she should wait then she starts to press around at the skin behind her ear where her translator implant is.

"Better?" she asks. "Yes. What was that?" Moira asks. "My implant." Is all that Ava says. "So, where are the others?"

"Outside."

Both women walk outside with Charles. Ava is still holding her head. Although she has an enhanced healing factor, it will take a few minutes.

"Today our fighting stops." is the first thing Ava hears as she steps outside. 

Erik levitates a corpse out of the broken submarine. The rest of Charles' little group watched with horror. 

Walking closer, Ava sees that the corpse is Sebastian Shaw. 

Erik, wearing Shaw's helmet, comes closer and drops the body between Xavier and Shaw's people, then levitates himself closer.

"Take off your binders, brothers, and sisters. The real enemy is out there." Erik points towards the military boats. " I feel their guns moving in the water, their metal targeting us. Americans. Soviets. Humans. United in their fear of the unknown. The Neanderthal is running scared, my fellow mutants!" He turns to Charles. "Go ahead, Charles. Tell me I'm wrong."

Charles holds his hand to his temple and looks out onto the sea. Ava can only see part of his face but he looks shocked and scared. Perhaps also disappointed. With a look at Moira, he nods.

The woman runs away and towards the Jet.

A few moments later, hundreds, no thousands of missiles are shot at the beach.

'This is it.' Ava thinks, 'I'm gonna die on Terra."

Suddenly all the projectiles stop in midair. Ava looks to  Erik, who has one of his hands outstretched. He began to tun the missiles around.

"Erik, you said yourself, we're the better men. This is the time to prove it. There are thousands of men on those ships. Good, honest, innocent men! They're just following orders." Charles tries to persuade him.

"I've been at the mercy of men just following orders. Never again!" Magneto replies and sends the missiles flying towards the ships.
