The Suits Weren't Bulletproof
"Erik, release them!" Charles yells at the helmet wearing Mutant but he doesn't stop.
"Noooo!" Charles yells and runs towards Erik, tackling him to the ground.
Ava looks at the missiles and sees how they all explode before they can reach the ships.
As Ava looks to Charles, Erik is pinning him to the ground.
The mutants try to help him but Erik throws out his hand. "Stay back!"
All of them (Alex, Sean and Hank) fly back. Now Ava tries her approach, getting out her Baton but he also throws her back.
Ava groans, her head had just started to heal and now it hurts again. She can hear Charles and Erik, Cherik, fight and some more explosions but doesn't lift her head to see.
At the sound of a gunshot, Ava decides that it might be better if she does lift her head.
Looking up, she sees Moira shooting at Erik. Is she stupid? Erik can literally control Metal!
Erik deflects all the bullets, till one his Charles, who just stood up again, in his lower back. He should have stayed down.
With a silent scream, Charles falls to the ground and they all look at him. Shocked.
Erik runs to his friend, if they still are friends, and pulls the bullet out with his powers, the nukes long forgotten.
"I'm so sorry," he tells him. Then he faces the other mutants, "I said back off."
"You. You did this." He says to Moira and starts to choke her with her silver necklace thing, dog tags, Ava thinks they are called but she doesn't get why (which is really not relevant now anyway.)
"Erik. Please." Charles, laying on Erik's lap, pleads, "She didn't do this, Erik. You did."
At this, Erik looks down at Charles sadly and lets Moira go, who falls to the floor, gasping for air.
"Us turning on each other, it's what they want. I tried to warn you, Charles. I want you bu my side. We're brothers, you and I. All of us together, protecting each other. We want the same thing." Erik says sadly.
Charles chuckles but it doesn't sound too happy, it's more of a sad, hurt chuckle. "My friend" so they are still friends, "I'm sorry, but we do not." He takes a deep breath as they look into each other's eyes.
Erik looks up again and waves Moira to them, who quickly runs to the two mutants. "Charles!," she says, "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." She takes Magneto's place, who slowly stands up while Charles keeps telling the woman at his side that it's alright.
"This society won't accept us." Eric tells the remaining mutants, pointing at Moira, "We form our own. The humans have played their hand. Now we get ready to play ours. Who's with me?"
Ava, who is standing again by now, looks at the others. The yellow dressed Mutants all look away except for Mystique. Shaw's group seems to consider it.
"No more hiding." Erik stretches his hand out to Mystique. raven walks forward with a slight limp but seems to be uncertain if she should go to Charles or to Erik.
She kneels down next to Charles. "You should go with him." The telepath tells his sister in everything but blood, "It's what you want."
"You promised me you would never read my mind."
"I know. I promised you a great many things, I'm afraid. I'm sorry." he kisses her gloved hands.
Raven leans down and kisses her brothers forehead. "Take care of him," she tells Moira and then stands up, taking Magneto's hand.
Shaw's crew join Erik and then all eyes are on Ava. She snorts and shakes her head.
The new group, the brotherhood so to say, lines up, holding hands. "And, Beats, never forget: Mutant and Proud," Mystique tells Hank before the group vanishes.
The remaining three mutants in yellow-black suits run to Charles but Ava stays behind.
They fuss around Charles till Hank tells him not to move.
"I won't.... Actually, I-I can't feel my legs."
Charles sits in a hospital bed, the mutants surround him, all except for Ava. She is sitting on a chair, a bit farther away.
Charles has just told them about his plan of making the mansion a school.
"I'm not going to join you," Ava tells them. "What?" Alex asks. "Why not?"
"I came to help stop Shaw. My job is done," she says, looking at Charles.
"So you are going back to your cave?" he teases. The others look confused.
"Ship. It's my ship and it's my home," she tells him.
"Your ship?" Hank asks.
She nods. "The one with which I crashed on this planet."
Now all eyes are on her. "You-You're an alien?" Sean asks.
Ava laughs. "Isn't it obvious?" She points at her face.
The mutants shake their heads. "I thought you were just another mutant," Hank says.
"I'm not, I crash landed here about fifteen years ago....." Ava proceeds to tell the mutants about her and how she landed on Terra. After that, she leaves but hands Charles a bracelet. It looks more like a white wrist watch but where the watch is supposed to be, is a something that looks like a glowing blue Kristal. "If you need me, press down on that." She tells him and taps to her white belt. "I'll come."
Then she leaves the group of mutants behind. She doesn't think she will ever see them again, to be honest. Shaw is defeated and Erik is god knows where.
What could go wrong.
Right?
