Long Day (lokixreader)
Exhausted from a day in the field and nonstop activities afterwards, I finally reach my bedroom. Closing the door behind me, Loki appears on my bed with a book in hand as he settles under the blankets in his pajamas.
"Hello, darling. I missed you today." Loki coos from the corner of the bed where the wall meets my stack of pillows as his face gleams towards me.
"I'm happy to see you, I've had such a long day." I pull off the dress I'd worn out after work and add it to the pile of dirty clothes in front of the laundry basket and huff, "Gods, my room is a mess. I'm sorry."
As I scoot the pile with my foot so it falls out of my way, Loki replies with a slight confusion, "Why are you apologizing to me?"
"It's gross, not very grown-up of me. Annoying, I guess." I try to explain my frustration to him as I adjust the bralette and shorts now exposed and walk to my desk to retrieve my water bottle.
He tilts his head and softens his face, "It's none of those things. It is perfectly okay to not have a perfect room when you're as busy as you are. You have many more important things than the clothes that decorate the floor." Loki extends his hand to me as an invitation to the bed I've craved all day, "Come my dear, you've had an incredibly long week and I wish to soothe that."
After taking a drink of my water I smile and take his hand as he pulls me into bed, causing me to giggle. "How rude!" I playfully pout towards the god as he pulls me into his side and kisses my head. "Fine, I guess I'll allow it." He gives me one more peck on top of my hair and chuckles.
"Would you like me to take care of your laundry for you?" Loki strokes my left arm with his hand that is wrapped around me and points to the floor with his right.
I think about it for a moment and decide, "No, I don't want to have to ask you to do that. It's my mess." I snuggle my face into his chest and feel his chest rumble as he giggles.
He holds up his right hand to my face and presents a small flame of green magic as an explanation.
"I don't want to have you do things for me just because I'm lazy, that's not fair." I turn my face towards him and pull my eyebrows together in protest.
I watch as he flicks his fingers anyways and I turn to see my clean clothes put away and organized, just like I like them, and the dirty clothes in the basket where they belong. I start to protest as he cuts my breath off.
"Sweetheart, you didn't ask me to do this. You're not lazy, this is one way I can show my appreciation for you. You've had a terribly exhausting week, please allow me to ease one portion where I can." He places his free hand on my cheek and strokes it.
Giving into my sleepy eyelids, I close them and lean into his hand as I nod. I can hear a small and happy sigh escape his nose, and I assume a small smile that accompanies it.
"Would you like me to read to you, my love?" Loki allows his fingers to stay on my cheeks and stroke my skin in tiny movements as I relax more.
"Please." I barely force the word out of my mouth, not wanting to move a muscle in my state. His hand starts to slip away from my face and I put my own over it, forcing it to remain.
Chuckling, he informs me, "Sweet, I need my hand to hold the book. The other is already holding you."
Without opening my eyes, I contort the muscles in my face as a protest in a playful anger. "You have magic. Use it to hold the book." I push his hand against my cheek causing my face to squish and exaggerate my voice.
"First you are angry I want to use my magic to help you and now you demand I employ it? Such a wild little thing." He uses the thumb from the hand on my face to bop my nose but gives into the request. Loki starts reading from the book he has been working on all week for me, only ever getting a chapter or two in before I fall asleep. Always patient, he closes the book when I do drift off to continue the next night.
Tonight his left arm wraps around my body, settling on my left hip as he draws small circles and his right stays on my face pinned by my own left arm. My legs entangle with his as I root myself around him with my right arm and watch the floating book in front of us as the words fall in his velvet tone.
Loki reads to me and paints me into a world of romance and adventure. His reading voice is that of an angel and his wit is that of a god. Allowing myself to fully relax, my body weight sinks into the mattress and my breaths slow into a smooth rhythm. Falling asleep, Loki places a soft kiss on my head and allows the book to vanish as my attention does. Laying in his arms, I drift through a dream with him by my side.
