Chapter 7
T’Challa was angry, scratch that he was furious!
A great man, a hero might be dead today and it might be his fault.
He should have never believed Rogers, the man was a disgraceful warrior in fact he wasn’t a warrior at all. A warrior would never behind a man without help!
He hadn’t been thinking straight in Siberia, driven by the guilt of trying to kill Sergeant Barnes when the man was not responsible for his father’s murder in the first place. He had offered him sanctuary in Wakanda to protect the man until a fair trial would be put forward and to remove the triggers (which was really hard, even for Shuri).
But Rogers had misunderstood his words, took (stolen) a jet from Wakanda, broke out the rogues, and came back to Wakanda claiming that T’Challa had offered the Sanctuary. T’Challa had no choice but to house them since it would be a problem for the world if they were left unsupervised (since they were worse than children).
That was a horrible mistake! Villains were much kinder. Thankfully he didn’t have to deal with them, the Dora milaje were more than kind to cater to their needs and the most suitable word would be demands.
Bast! How did Mr. Stark deal with these toddlers? They think that they should be treated and cared for like princesses because according to them they saved the world. Not to mention, again according to them everything wrong in the world is Mr. Stark.
Stark is a murderer, monster, liar, traitor, he is selfish; the Accords are his Demon child etc. If he hears more screeching of this from the witch’s mouth he might ask that collar to be put back on her! He only had to see it in the CCTV cameras, he feels sorry for his Dora’s since they had to hear it every day as they were guarding their rooms.
Barton says the same things like the witch but mostly remains quiet with an ugly scowl on his face. Romanoff on the other hand spouts about Stark’s ego, how he’s not a team player, and how it would only take him a little time for him to see sense and he will apparently beg them to return.
Wilson and Lang on the other hand have changed in the two weeks. They have pulled out mostly from the others and mostly just talk to each other. Well, good for them.
Barnes had requested to be put into cryosleep as he thought it would be better for everyone. Rogers protested greatly against it but he was ignored. However, before he went into the ice he had asked T’Challa if he had heard anything on Stark and when he answered negatively there was an expression of huge sorrow and guilt on his face. That had made T’Challa very suspicious, and he had immediately doubled his search for Dr. Stark.
And then there is Rogers, his biggest headache. The man didn’t like to be told no, he had put in a lot of requests with his Dora’s to meet T’Challa, so they can do some bonding and get to know each other (didn’t the man know that taking care of a country has a lot of work? and when did he become his friend? when did they even get on the first-name basis?) but had been turned down every time.
When they did meet for a brief moment of time after he fought his cousin, (he was still guilty about his death) he had asked him again about Dr. Stark and the man spouted the same thing he said before, he turned against them, they fought, Rogers and Barns won, Stark was moving and taking, he was fine. It was like he had memorized the line! And T’Challa was not buying it and neither were Wilson and Lang who looked suspicious too.
Another thing worrying about the man was his strange fixation with Dr. Stark. When everyone talks bad about him, he keeps telling them that Tony is their family, he did wrong with them and he will apologize or Steve will make him apologize and everything will go back to the way they were (T’Challa does not know what that means). But he also had this obsessed look on his face whenever he talked about Dr. Stark and a look of hunger on his face whenever Dr. Stark’s photo came on the TV (that was very concerning). Rogers was talking about the man like he owned him!
T’Challa had vowed to himself that he would not allow Rogers to do anything with Dr. Stark. He had taken the man’s word before and then he had gone missing but now T’Challa will do anything in his power to make sure his teammate (temporary teammate) was not hurt.
Then, today the videos of what exactly happened in Siberia came out and his patience had finally run out.
And his sister looked like she wanted to kill him!
Not that he would blame her, Shuri had admired Dr. Stark’s work her whole life. He was the only person that was smarter than her according to her. But that was true, the man had done much more technical advancement than Wakanda without Vibranium and had fully functional sentient A.I.’s which Shuri still didn’t know how to create. And now her role model might be dead and it might be due to her brother.
She was also furious with him of how he had talked to Dr. Stark when he met him just because of a petty grudge against the man’s father for stealing their Vibranium. And look at the irony a few days later his entire world was turned upside down and he had gotten to know the truth about his father. Although what his Baba did was necessary, still he had made a kid an orphan and left him alone. But in the end, it had almost led to his cousin almost killing him and he was forced to kill him. He killed his cousin just like his father killed his brother. After that was over Shuri had looked him straight in the eye and said karma, which intensified the shame that he was already feeling.
He could also not blame Dr. Stark for attacking Rogers and Barnes since that was what he also did. He also has no idea why he held back and didn't just kill them. Just like the news anchor said, even he knew what Dr. Stark's suit was capable of and even 2 super soldiers were no match for it. But then he understood, the man was hurt, he was grieving and he just found out his friend or maybe a teammate who he had trusted had lied to him and he just wanted to hurt Rogers for the hurt he caused. Then Barnes tried to pull out the arc reactor and the situation escalated.
“Brother, if you do not put that traitorous criminal in our dungeons then I will kill you by my own hands.” Shuri declared. The look in her eyes said she was going to go through it if he even tries to deny her (not that he was going to).
“Of course they all are going to our dungeons, that disgraced captain, lied to me and had the gall to call Dr. Stark a traitor.” He turned to Okoye who had her own vicious glare turned to him (not that he would blame her, he was her king but she was his oldest friend and he had made a grave mistake) “But we have to see who all are on Rogers side first, if some of them do realize that what he did was wrong then they do not go in the dungeon.”
Okoye looked convinced but Shuri still looked ready to argue but then eventually nodded her head.
She opened the CCTV footage of their living quarters.
And what was shown was definitely a shock; some of them really do have a heart! Wilson had punched Rogers in the face which had broken his hands and was still trying to get a go at him but was held back by Lang who had a disgusted look on his face while looking at Rogers. The others (as expected) were taking Rogers’s side and were saying it was all Stark’s fault.
After all that drama Wilson and Lang had left for their rooms while the others were still in the living room of the quarters. Rogers had an expression on his face like he was the victim and everyone was painting him as the villain, he either has a mental problem or is the most delusional man in the world.
“Okoye, spray the knock-out gas in the room and make sure all four are unconscious before entering the room. Then put the collar on the witch and put them all in the special cells. I will contact Everett Ross; he will help us to get in contact with the council and maybe Dr. Stark too.” T’Challa gave instructions to Okoye. She marched out of the room with a satisfied smirk.
Shuri looked at him with a small smile; well it’s a start to her forgiving him. He couldn’t even start forgiving himself until he makes sure Dr. Stark is fine, If he wasn’t then T’Challa would make sure that Wakanda’s medical facilities would be available to him.
He also had to ask him about Sergeant Barnes, while the man may have not been responsible for his father’s murder, he was responsible for Dr. Stark’s albeit not willingly.
He had a lot to make up to and making sure Rogers, Romanoff, Barton, and Maximoff were brought to justice was a start.
