Why Hawkeye deserved to survive Avengers Endgame
author
Summary
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I want to make that clear. But since the Black Widow film came out, hell since Avengers Endgame came out, and Natasha Romanoff [Black Widow] lost her life to save the world / return it to normal, the level of HATE that I’ve seen for Clint Barton / Hawkeye [now Ronin?] has been horrific!Natasha was an amazing and complex character, there is no disputing that, she dominated the franchise since her first appearance, and I legitimately cried at her demise. But to say it should have been Clint, and people posting threats to stop watching or making disgusting comments against the writers or Jeremy himself is simply childish. I want to show his qualities and why he deserved to live.
Note
Will give my views on each film, and Hawkeye's part in them.

Hawkeye

Okay, just before I get into this, gonna bring up the Black Widow film as its contents will be mentioned in this section.
Big shock, Natasha had a sister. Yelena

Why has she never been mentioned? I'd go with shame and guilt on Nats part as she left her behind. (Granted she was unsure if she was alive or dead)
As they play catch up, Nat brings up Clint several times. Its clear to all he means a great deal to her, and he important.

The real important question which will be covered soon, does Clint know about Yelena???

And on with the show!

The Hawkeye Series.

One year following the return from the Snap.

Introducing Kate Bishop. Like many kids/teens, we all have heroes and crushes. This is a young girl who was there during The Battle of New York... and was mesmerised... not by Thor, Cap or Tony... but by Clint Barton, whom she idolises. (Cue me looking smug)

(Okay, so these are the episode highlights I've borrowed from Wikipedia.
Below each one will be my insight and views on the episode.)

Episode 1
In 2012, during the Battle of New York, a young Kate Bishop witnesses Clint Barton battling the Chitauri and aspires to become a hero like him after he inadvertently saves her life.
In the present, Barton spends time with his children in New York for Christmas.

Meanwhile, Bishop attends a charity auction gala with her mother Eleanor and learns that her mother is engaged to Jack Duquesne. Underneath the gala, Bishop stumbles onto a black market auction featuring items recovered from the remains of the Avengers Compound, finding Duquesne and his uncle Armand III among the attendees. The auction is interrupted by the Tracksuit Mafia, who attempt to recover a watch among the items.

As Duquesne steals Barton's Ronin sword, Bishop recovers Barton's Ronin suit and defeats the mafia members while wearing it. After rescuing a stray dog, she escapes to her apartment before tracking down Armand to investigate further, but discovers that Armand has been murdered in his home and is cornered by the Tracksuit Mafia after fleeing the crime scene.

Barton, who saw a news report of the Ronin's return, rescues Bishop from the gangsters.

Okay, my time:
So we know the show picks up one year later. Clint now had hearing problems, as he's wearing hearing aids. (So everyone annoyed that wasn't cannon earlier, can hush)
He's not under any form of arrest as he's in New York with his children. As humorous as the "Avengers Show" was, it was highlighted/shown how uncomfortable Clint was seeing "Natasha" in the show, as his daughter stated. "She was your best friend."

So the first episode is more focused on Kate, and that's fair.
Shes strong, clever, quick and can take care of herself.
But she's still young, and putting on the Ronin costume, yeah that was her biggest mistake. Ever more so than trying to show off and accidently destroy a bell tower.
😀

But she's a good soul and saving a one eyed dog, massive brownie points.

At the end of the episode... Clint has still got it, rescuing her from the gang.
As I said, she's eager but still inexperienced.

Highlights of the episode.
1 - learning Clint has hearing problems now.
Watching the musical
L - Did you turn your hearing aid off?
C - No, honey, I know what happens. I was there. You know who wasn’t there? (points) Is that guy. Ant-Man.

2 - Family Christmas plans
Well, look, it’s six days until Christmas, okay?
We’re gonna do a lot of activities. What’s your favorite one?
Um, gingerbread house.
We’re doing that! What do you got?
Uh, Christmas movie marathon.
Movie marathon, awesome!
Uh, ugly sweaters.
Ugly Christmas sweaters!
We have to decorate the tree. There’s a thousand things to do.
It’s going to be amazing, but most important thing, we’re going to do it all together.

3 - Gratitude and manners
Dinner is on us.
Thank you.
Oh, that’s, that’s not necessary.
It’s necessary. You saved our city.
Oh. Thank you.
LILA: Thank you, sir.
NATHANIEL: Thank you!
COOPER: Thank you.

4 - The auction of the Ronin sword and costume
MALE AUCTIONEER:
Up next, we have a very special piece.
An artifact recovered from the wreckage of the Avengers compound.
Now you may recall the Ronin decimated the criminal underworld of the city, almost completely annihilating the status and power of the head of organized crime.
The Ronin brought a brutal form of justice to his victims, and his identity continues to remain a mystery to this very day.
Now you can own this one-of-a-kind retractable sword, and we’ll start the bidding at $200,000.
-
Sold for $475,000.
-
Up next, we have lot number 3-0-9.
The companion piece, the Ronin suit.

5 - attack on the auction
MAN 4: We’ve got 90 seconds to find the watch.
Everything else is secondary!

6 - Kate putting on the Ronin suit, fighting the attackers, saving a dog and making the news, watched by Clint and the family.
We are following a breaking news story.
A high society gala rocked by an explosion when it went off at Park Avenue and 68th Street tonight.
The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
But witnesses captured cell phone footage of a masked assailant fleeing the scene.
LILA: Check it out. A ninja saved a dog.
NEWSCASTER: Authorities believe the assailant could be the Ronin…
LILA: Isn’t that awesome, Dad?
…who terrorized organized crime in New York and elsewhere.
This is the first potential sighting of the Ronin in years.

7 - Kate taking the dog to her apartment, and feeding him pizza!!
:-)

8 - Meeting your heroes
You’re… You’re Hawkeye!
And who the hell are you?

Well there's a bit to digest from the episode, but it's not "nitty gritty". This is the opener, and setting up the story as a whole.

Ronin has been gone for years.
Kate, in a bad decision, put on the Ronin suit, but it's forgivable as she probably doesn't know the full history?
Worth noting, nobody outside of the Avengers know that Hawkeye and Ronin are the same person.
Clint is still haunting by the loss of Natasha and the guilt of his Ronin actions.
