Why Hawkeye deserved to survive Avengers Endgame

Summary
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I want to make that clear. But since the Black Widow film came out, hell since Avengers Endgame came out, and Natasha Romanoff [Black Widow] lost her life to save the world / return it to normal, the level of HATE that I’ve seen for Clint Barton / Hawkeye [now Ronin?] has been horrific!Natasha was an amazing and complex character, there is no disputing that, she dominated the franchise since her first appearance, and I legitimately cried at her demise. But to say it should have been Clint, and people posting threats to stop watching or making disgusting comments against the writers or Jeremy himself is simply childish. I want to show his qualities and why he deserved to live.
Note
Will give my views on each film, and Hawkeye's part in them.

Hawkeye

Episode 6
Clint Barton and Kate Bishop watch a recording of her mother Eleanor Bishop and crime lord Wilson Fisk breaking off their partnership, learning that Eleanor killed her fiancée Jack Duquesne's uncle Armand and framed him for the shell corporation Sloan Limited.

On Christmas Eve, Barton and Bishop attend Eleanor's holiday party, where Bishop confronts her mother and learns her father owed money to Fisk, which led to Eleanor working with him. Kazi Kazimierzcak attempts to assassinate Eleanor on Fisk's orders, but targets Barton instead. Barton enlists help from Grills, the LARPers, and Duquesne to evacuate the party before rejoining Bishop to defeat the Tracksuit Mafia.

After Maya Lopez kills Kazimierzcak, Bishop attempts to look for Eleanor while Barton is confronted by Yelena Belova, who demands the truth of her Natasha Romanoff's death.
They fight, but he eventually reminds her of his close friendship with Romanoff and her sacrifice to save the universe. Belova decides to walk away after sparing him.

Elsewhere, Fisk tries to stop Eleanor from escaping, but Bishop arrives and incapacitates him with Barton's trick arrows. Eleanor is then arrested by the police for Armand's murder, while Fisk escapes but is eventually confronted by Lopez.

The next day, Barton returns to his family with Bishop and Lucky [the dog], and returns the watch to Laura - revealed to be a former SHIELD member, and burns the Ronin suit.

OKAY! So, there's A LOT to unpack from this final episode.
But i'm not here to unpack ALL the details, just the one's highlighting the awesomeness that is Clint Barton / Hawkeye. [and Kate too, she shines here - no doubt she's gonna eventually take the Hawkeye mantle... but till then, my guy is still The World's Greatest Archer... :-) Sorry not sorry girl.

Hoohoo!
The arrows! Mental, quirky and just damn right brilliant.
Plus, got another shot of the awesomeness that is Clint, firing without looking, blowing up some bad guys! [Shout out / FLASHBACK blowing some bad Chitari out the sky, as well as the King of Smugness himself, Loki] - Check out the link below to relive those days :-)

Sorry, caught up in the moment!!

So I'm gonna jump straight to the showdown we've been waiting for, Clint vs Yelena.

While I could, and should continue to gush on his skills, I'm gonna keep this one to the nitty gritty convo's.

There was a lot of reviews on Yelena's motivation in the series. Some deemed it stupid, as in Black Widow, Natasha name dropped Barton's name numerous times, her affection very VERY clear. So why would Yelena believe him to kill someone he obviously had a close relationship with?

He explained it all to Yelena, but she didn't want to listen.
Fair, she's grieving and pissed off that the person she loved most is gone. No matter his words, it's Clint's fault [to her]

But one line gives everything away.
One sentence reveals that it's not how she died that's destroyed Yelena...

"You got so much time with her..."

There it is.
Plain and simple.

She was hurt, jealous even.
Natasha... HER Natasha... loved someone else as much, dare I say, if not more.

But as Clint explains to her, Natasha died for everyone.
It wasn't JUST because of her love for Clint,
Or his wife and children.
Nor her love for Yelena...

It was for the world.
As she said to Clint in Avengers: Endgame:
"For the last five years I've been trying to do one thing, get to right here. That's all it's been about. Bringing everybody back."

So let's break down their talk [in between the fighting] - worth noting, he doesn't really fight back against her. He basically takes all the punishment she dishes out.

The conversations / fighting between Clint and Yelena.
Y - Before I kill you, I need to ask you one question.
C - It's nice to finally meet you, Yelena.
Y - I need to know what happened.
C - Look, Yelena, if I told you what really happened,
you'd never believe me. But what you need to know is your sister sacrificed herself, and she saved the world. I'm sorry.
Y - You're lying.
C - What?
Y - You're pathetic. You're so pathetic.

---

C - Nobody killed her. She made a choice.
Y - Stop lying!
C - You're not listening to me. She sacrificed herself, understand? I couldn't stop her.
Y - No. Why would she sacrifice herself for you? Why do you deserve it?
C - I don't.
Y - So she died because you let her.
C - I fought for it. But she was better than me.
Y - You should've fought harder.

---

[Clint is on the floor, Yelena has her gun on him, fury on her face.]
[he whistles Natasha's whistle, then Yelena's]
Y - [shocked] How do you know that?
N - [he moves to face her, kneeling in front of her] Your secret whistle with Nat. She talked about you all the time, Yelena.
Y - [surprised] She did? What did she say?
C - She told me about how you got separated as kids. She was flying that plane. I asked her if she was scared. All she could think about is that you were safe. That never changed, Yelena. She loved you. And always wanted you safe.
Y - [pained, crying] You got so much time with her.
C - Yes, I did. It shouldn't have gone this way.
Y - If I was there, I could have stopped it. I could have... - I could have changed it.
C - Nothing was gonna stop her, Yelena. You know Natasha.
She made her choice. We're gonna have to find a way to live with that.
Y - I loved her so much.
C - Me too.
[Yelena puts her gun away, and walks to Clint, holding out her hand. He takes it and stands] I'm sorry. [They stare at eah other, an unspoken understanding passing between them]

---

So there you have it. The two people who Natasha Romanoff loved the most.

Clint fought Yelena but never aimed to harm her. He, as shown above, tried to talk to her, but she didn't want to believe it.
Ultimately it came down to Clint knew Natasha, and deep down Yelena knew what he told her to be true.

They have to move on now, what's done is done.

---

Oh and then to top it all off, Clint and Kate,
Their dynamic has been dynamite the whole series, and culminated in one of the sweetest "dad-talks" I've ever heard...

C - You know,I gotta be really honest with you, Kate. It doesn't happen too often, but... every once in a while, you come across somebody that just makes you better... in every way.

---

C - I know tonight was a lot. You took on Kingpin all by yourself. Not many people walk away from somethin' like that. And I'm so proud of you.
K - Thank you.

---

AHHHHH!!!!!

Such a dad!
And teacher.
Friend.
Role-model.

---

FINALLY.
Clint makes it home for Christmas, keeping his promise - Good Dad alert!!, and Kate and Lucky are coming too.

C - [to Laura] Brought home a couple strays.
K - Hi.
C - This is Kate.
L - [with open arms, smiling] Welcome, Kate. So good to have you. [she hugs her happily] -- such a good and supportive network!!

Clint and Kate later burn the Ronin suit.
Kate throws out some code names, Clint's not on board and they bicker, the end of the episode hits.

Clint Barton deserves to live.

END OF.
