Dr. Serizawa
Dr. Ishiro Serizawa wasn't the best at family.
His wife died many years ago. His son had left home and had no intention to return, and he hasn't talked to the rest of his family in decades.
Then came the Starks.
Howard had taken a liking to him as a young SHIELD agent, when his former partner, Hank Pym, became paranoid and accused him of theft.
It was during this time Howard was starting to question SHIELD. Ms. Carter was showing signs of paranoia and desire to control. He even remembered Howard saying she was starting to neglect the niece she had been entrusted with.
Then Gojira came.
It was supposed to be a simple mission, but it changed everything.
For the man that had helped create Captain America. The man suddenly became insignificant when he saw that. That was true power.
A power that he knew Carter and SHIELD would probably try to use. It was the final cue for them to leave SHIELD.
So they left, and with Government support, founded MONARCH.
At first, it was a small organization meant to monitor Gojira. At the time, they knew nothing, and they wanted to know everything.
But then the idea came to Howard. What if...what if there were more. More of the same kind as Gojira. And what if those weren't proven to be as peaceful. The President at the time agreed, and gave MONARCH more power.
4 years later, the expediton to Skull Island happened. A man named Randa lead a expedition with Colonel James Connard and Captain Carol Danvers. They met with Kong and the Skullcrawlers. It was the defining proof that there are Titans that are good, and Titans that are not good.
A year later, Mosura showed up.
And then more and more came up during the years. And MONARCH grew with the discoveries.
Howard had to work hard on hiding them from SHIELD and Hydra, and other parties that could have nefarious porpuses with them.
During all of this. He bonded with the Starks, and they somehow welcomed him to their family.
He grew to see them that way too.
So when he heard the last of the Starks was missing. He had immediately sent Yelena to get him.
Last time he had talked to Tony, was months after Sokovia. After that the man vanished into his work with the Avengers.
And just look at how it payed out for him.
But they had no time for the past. More and more Titans are waking up. The MUTOs were a close call. Who knows how much more time they have before even more problematic ones come out.
"Dr. Serizawa." Rick Stanton called him. "She's back. And she's got the guest. Their landing in 5."
"I'll go meet them in the Hellipad."
"Good. However there is something else."
"What is it ?"
"There's new reported activity on Outpost 61."
....
Even being one of the only that knew of MONARCH. He had never been on their main headquarters.
"Why is that they chose to have this place on the middle of the ocean again ?"
"It's the best way to watch Godzilla on it's natural habitat. You monitor the King, you got the rest of them."
"Huh. And have you seen him ?"
"Nope. I'm fairly new here. And you ?"
"Nope."
The plane landed, with Serizawa walking into the helipad.
"Well look who it is. Long time no seen." Tony greeted the man.
"Hmph. It is you the one that has been quiet."
"Well I was trying to salvage a mess. But should have known it was unavoidable."
"I could have told you that, with Natalia involved." Yelena mumbled.
"Sorry for saying this. Your sister is a dick."
"You can't be sorry for telling the truth."
"Enough !" Serizawa said gently. "We got more pressing concerns than the future Avengers."
"Right you are. After all I am just a consultant."
He led them inside, to an elevator.
"For the past years. Most Titans have been in deep hibernation. Baring the activity in Skull Island, only Gojira has been active. We believed that as Alpha, it was his call to make sure all of the other Titans remained asleep."
"But let me guess. They are waking up."
"Correct. Yesterday we manage to observe the confrontation of Gojira and two Titans identified as MUTOs. While the King managed to gain an easy victory, what this could mean is concerning."
The elevator got to the down floor. And he lead them to his office. A computer showed various dots.
"This are all of the outposts of MONARCH. As you can see, those glowing red have known Titans in it."
"Holly shit. Some of this are dangerously close to civilian populations. I mean look at this one. The one in Isla del Mara is right above the city."
"Yes, which is why we are concerned about it."
"I get it. But why call me ? You do know that I've never seen a Titan before."
"Actually...that is not true. You did see two of them. When you were a baby."
"Wait...what ?"
"You were only two years old. When Howard had taken you here...for an emergency."
"Emergency ?"
"You had come with an illness that.....the survival rate was less than 1%."
"DAM IT !" Howard screamed on his office. "JUST...DAM IT !"
"Please call down Howard." Serizawa said. "We will find a solution."
"I have consulted with the best medics on the whole world. They have no idea what to do !"
"We can't just give up. There might be something we are missing."
"There have been so many attempts Ishiro. None of them have been successful. We....."
At that moment. Howard had an idea.
"We do have something...others don't. Or rather...someone."
"Howard ?"
"I need to call Maria. We are going to China."
"Wait China...I didn't even know I was sick !"
"There is more to the story. They weren't going to try doctors there. No..China is where the Queen of the Monsters resides."
He got a picture from her on the screen.
"Titanus Mosura. Otherwise known as Mothra."
"Are you sure this is safe Howard ?"
"We have no choice Maria. It's the only way. After Godzilla this is the second one we have the most information about. And the less aggressive of all of them. It's our best choice."
"Ok...but how did Mom and Dad even speak to...Mothra ?"
"Hehe. Because there is a cult dedicated to her." Yelena giggled.
Serizawa glared good naturely at her. "It's...not a cult. There are some ladies called, the Ladies of Mothra, who speak to the Queen. One of our Doctors, Illene Chen, is one of them. They soon accepted the request and spoke to the Queen."
He took of his glasses.
"However, that day, there was something no one expected."
Mothra wasn't alone. That day, it happened to be one Godzilla came to check on his Queen.
The Queen of the Monsters accepted the request. She gently healed the baby entrusted to her. But while she could cure him, it wound't be fast enough to avoid death.
That's when the King came in.
With his blood, the King and Queen were able to heal you, and make sure you would leave. But then...it created something else.
"What ?"
"By having the DNA of both of them circling of the blood. It made you....part of them. Part Titan."
"Hehe...you are kidding...right ?" Tony said incuriously.
"I am not." Serizawa said calmly. "Now it doesn't mean you are secretly a super soldier or anything. But that connection has protected you. It's that that allowed you to survive as long as you could with the hole in the chest. That's what kept you out of Loki's control. It kept you from dying in space. It saved you from many things."
Tony still didn't believe it. But...it made some sense. He had survived a lot of things that no other humans would.
"Hey if it makes you feel any better." Yelena said. "I got Mothra's Elixir on my veins as well. It's what the Dr here used to free me from the Red Room."
"Mothra's Elixir is something wonderful. Given time, it can cure anything."
"They why not give it to the hospitals ?"
"Becasue questions would be asked. I would like, love, to give this to the people. But then it would track down to Mothra. It could lead to disaster if the Titan's were discovered. Specially if the Queen is threaten."
Tony had to admit it made sense. Who knows what SHIELD or Hydra could do if they found out the immense power of the Titans. Judging by how they act around enhanced humans, well....something stupid is bound to happen.
"Your point....makes sense." He said slowly. Still there had to be a way to get this cure to the world. "But still...what do you need me to do ?"
"We..."
"DR. SERIZAWA !" Rick Stanton ran towards his office. "There's been an emergency !"
"What's happened !"
"There's been an attack on Outpost 61 !"
"What !"
"Pst. What's, outpost 61 ?" Tony asked Yelena.
"That's where Mothra lives."
"Oh."
"Who attacked ?"
"Judging by the uniforms. It was Hydra."
Tony wasn't fucking surprised. Of course it was Hydra.
"From what we know. They were unable to get to the waterfall where our little butterfly rests. But they did get into the lab...and killed almost everyone."
"Almost....everyone ?"
"Indeed. Dr. Emma Russel, and her daughter Madison, were taken alive."
"Emma is also in the possession of the ORCA. This is bad."
"Excuse me. For all of us that are new here. What is the ORCA ?"
"The ORCA is a system that can reproduce the sound of a Titan. Dr. Russel has been working on it for 5 years already. If used on the wrong hands, it can cause disaster."
"It can make them feel their territory is threatened or in other's cases, their status." Tony finished.
"We must depart to Outpost 61 immediately." Serizawa said.
"So...we are going now ?" Yelena asked. "Ha, this is the most traveling i have done since arriving here."
"Does your jet have a kitchen ? I am starving."
"Heh. I worked with Howard for many years. I know how to travel in style." With that, Serizawa left to make preparations. Living Tony alone with Yelena.
"FRIDAY, updates on Rhodey ?"
"He's still in a coma sir."
"Dam it. Make sure you have everything. Looks like I am going to be away for sometime."
"Of course sir. However, there is something you should know."
"What is it ?"
"There are citizens saying they saw Thor on the streets of New York, and alongside him, a man that greatly resembled Loki."
"Thor's back....and someone resembling Loki. Heh, well we know the God of Mischief isn't one to stay dead."
"Indeed. The Vision's been alerted and is on standby. However it seems the Gods have left New York."
"Keep an eye on it for me will you ?"
"Yes Boss."
"I have to say that computer voice of yours. I love her sassy voice." Yelena said.
"Ha, you should hear her when she IS sassy. I don't know where she got that from."
"Huh. Well tell her to be careful with photos and everything. Serizawa is really protective of the Titans. Specially since we are going to one of the big ones."
"The big ones ?"
"That's what we all call them. The big most powerful ones. The ones that are observed the closest. Godzilla, Mothra, Kong, Rodan and.....Monster Zero."
"I see...Wait Monster Zero ? Doesn't it have a name ?"
"Nope. He's very recent. Little is known about it."
"Huh. So it's true. The number is increasing every time."
"Yeah, and who knows when we will find another of the big ones. But hey the Avengers have only had few big ones, right ?"
"Wait, you think we have big ones ?"
"I mean, I would say a god for space, a huge green monster, and a suit of armor with so many weapons can do much more than my punny sister and her friend with a bow."
"Huh. I never though of it that way. Wait you forgot about Captain America."
"He ? His only a man in steroids."
And Tony couldn't help but laugh hardly at that.
Madison held close to her mother as they boarded the jet.
"Everything ready ?" Allan Jonah said.
"Yes Sir. We are in direct course to Antartica."
"Good."
"Antartica ! Why are we going to Antartica ?" She asked her mother.
Emma however stayed quiet.
"A curious one isn't she ?" Jonah laughed. "I can see you got your mother's spark."
"Well I do want to know where I am being kidnapped into."
"Worry not Ms. Russel. It's not the first time Hydra gets involved with all of this Titan business. After all, Godzilla is the one being that Hydra had in the, not engage under any circumstance, category. But after we are done. That's all going to change." With that, the man entered the cockpit.
"Mom...what's going on ?"
"Just stay quiet. Ok honey ?" She didn't want another Richard and Mary Parker right now. Not her family.
They already lost a lot.
But if she can get her plan to work....then there might be no need for any more suffering.
