Chapter 1
Tara looked up from her computer, at her bestfriends with a pleading look in her eyes. “Please guys, come to the concert with me.” She was currently trying to get tickets to Amber Freeman’s latest concert, and she was desperate to book three tickets instead of going alone.
“It’d be good to get out.” Anika shrugged, wrapping an arm around her girlfriend’s waist. “Mindy, we haven’t been out for a while, a concert is what we need.” Tara grinned, knowing that Mindy wouldn’t be able to refuse Anika.
Mindy closed her eyes for a second, before groaning. “Fine, we can go.” She sent a playful glare over to the shorter girl. “I’m only doing this to get out of the house.”
Tara nodded, pretending to look serious. “Oh definitely.” her smile returned as she booked tickets to the concert. It was surprisingly cheap, only coming up to 100 together. “The concert is in a week, be ready for the best night of your life.”
Anika nodded, reaching over to kiss her girlfriend on the cheek. “It’s going to be fun, i know it.” Mindy blushed as her girlfriend’s lips connected with her cheek, turning her head so she was nose to nose with the girl.
Tara pretended to throw up, leaving the couple in the room by themselves. She tucked the tickets into an envelope and stuck it on the pinboard in the kitchen. Her sister, Sam, came out of her bedroom yawning slightly. She nodded to her younger sister, who sent a smile back. “Morning Tara.”
“Morning.” the girl responded, looking behind the older girl to see her boyfriend Danny come out of the bedroom. “He slept over here?” she whispered to Sam who hummed in response.
“Tara.” the man nodded at her, as he kissed her sister on the cheek. Tara rolled her eyes, nodding at Danny before leaving the kitchen.
The whole house was full of lovers, Tara didn’t mind but the constant kissing got a bit annoying for her. Anika, Mindy as well as their other friend Quinn Bailey had tried to get her to date, girls and boys but it never worked out. Tara was awkward when it came to talking to people, and she spent most of her fangirling over her favourite artists, especially Amber Freeman, to the point it annoyed her talking stages.
She walked to Quinn’s room, knocking on the door and hoping her friend didn’t have a boy over. “Quinn?” the door opened slightly, the ginger’s face in view. Tara sighed, as it was obvious Quinn had a boy in there.
“Sorry Tara.” she replied sheepishly, as her eyes met the Carpenter’s. “He’ll be gone by lunch.”
It was 11:30 am now. Tara nodded, as she walked to her own room.

A week had passed, and the three girls were getting ready for the concert. Mindy admitted she didn’t care much about what she wore, so her girlfriend picked out cargo bottoms for her and a cropped top. Anika was wearing a skirt, and a black long sleeved shirt. Tara was in her room, wearing ripped blue jeans and a top she had stolen from Quinn the other day. It was a sleeveless red top.
Her hair was out, and she had star pins in it. To top off the outfit she was wearing her doc martens, ones that she had begged her sister to get for her birthday. The three teenagers got into the taxi, and it was half an hour drive to the concert from here.
“Are you guys excited?” Tara asked her friends, earning a smile from Anika and a nod from Mindy. They both knew how much she loved Amber’s songs, one of the reasons why they agreed to go with her. She went with them to things that made them happy, so it was only fair they did the same.
“Yes, we are.” Anika nodded, as the stadium where the concert was being held at was in their view. “We’re almost there.” she clapped her hands together, leaning back onto her girlfriend.
As soon as the car stopped, Tara rushed her friends out of the car, quickly paying the driver. Mindy laughed, seeing how eager her friend for the concert to start. “Slow down, shortcake.” referring to the nickname the small girl had earned on her first day of meeting her friends.
“I want to be near the front, hurry!” she paid no attention to the reference of her height, instead dragging Anika and Mindy to the security doors. “Three tickets, here.” she handed the tickets to the guard, who nodded and gave it back to her.
Her pace quickened, as she hurried to be near the front. The couple sent each other a look of amusement, before following after their friend. It didn’t take long for the stadium to fill with screaming fangirls, Tara being one of them when Amber entered the stage.
“Welcome everyone!” the artist said, a small hush falling over the crowd. “I want to say thank you to everyone for coming here tonight, this is one of my best concerts yet.”
Amber’s eyes travelled around the crowd, eventually watching the front row. She walked down the steps, a few whispers from people as she walked past them. Tara’s breath caught in her throat, as the artist stopped right in front of her. Anika nodded at the girl encouragingly.
“What’s your name?” the black haired singer held the microphone in front of Tara. A few people whispered, as they watched the encounter, but the Carpenter girl was only looking at Amber.
“Tara.” she paused for a second, shocked that her favourite artist was speaking to her. “Carpenter.” Amber Freeman held the microphone back towards her, as she asked her next question.
“Did you come here alone, Tara?”
She shook her head, pointing at the couple not too far from them. “With my friends.” This answer seemed to amuse Amber, and Tara was suddenly aware that Anika was filming the interaction.
“I meant to ask if you came here with a partner.” Amber looked into the girl’s eyes, as Tara smiled slightly.
“No, I don’t have a partner.”
“Would you want one, Tara?” Amber took a step closer to the girl, making Tara look the girl up and down. “I heard dating a singer is good these days.” whispers again from the crowd.
Tara was shocked, she didn’t know what to say. Amber Freeman was in front of her, basically asking if she would date a singer. She opened her mouth to say something but then closed it again, not knowing what was suitable to say. This might just be a public stunt for the beginning of her latest song, so she chose to say nothing.
Amber nodded, as she walked back onto the stage. “The option is still there Tara.” she didn’t say anything else, before she started singing her new song.
Tara turned to Anika and Mindy, who instantly opened their mouths in shock. “Tara, you idiot.” Mindy rolled her eyes playfully, as she pulled the girl to her. “She was so obviously flirting with you, she literally asked you out and you didn’t say anything.”
“It wasn’t flirting, its for the song.” Tara couldn’t even convince herself of that, let alone her friends. She sighed, her eyes glancing at the girl on the stage. Amber was staring directly at her. “I wish I could live that moment forever.”
“Good thing, you invited me then.” Anika winked, as she waved her phone at Tara. “I recorded it and sent it to you.” she paused. “Well actually to the group chat, its a need to know how oblivious you are.”
“I’m not oblivious.” Tara muttered, as she saved the picture to her camera roll. Staring back up at the stage, she blushed slightly when Amber pointed at her during the song.
Of course it wasn’t at her, she was pointing in Tara’s general direction. She just hoped Amber was pointing at her, maybe she imagined the point.
