Chapter 2
It had been a couple of days since the concert, and Tara played the video Anika recorded at least twice a day. It wasn’t for any reason but the fact that Amber Freeman walked up to her. Her of all people.
It was early Thursday morning, and she was sure no one else was awake. Tara was half asleep, but she just couldn’t get back to sleep. After at least half an hour of trying to fall asleep, she groaned and got out of her bed.
She ran a hand through her hair, using the other hand to rub her eyes. The sun was starting to rise, and the Carpenter girl decided that she would spend a couple of hours on her computer. In the hopes she would grow tired and fall back asleep.
Grabbing her laptop and a blanket, the brunette girl laid back onto her bed and an email popped up. Her eyes scanned over it quickly, widening as she clicked onto it.
Amber Freeman holding a meet and greet?

Tara’s face lit up, and she had to stop herself from waking up her roommates. If Amber was holding a meet and greet, Tara definitely had to go. It was a chance to talk about the concert, and as Quinn had told her, to find out the singer’s true intentions of their interaction.
Tara didn’t want to go alone however, and there was two people that she knew would definitely come with her. Anika and Quinn. Anika would come to force her friend to talk to the singer and discourage her from backing out, while Quinn would come so she could see another interaction between the singer and the fan.
With that, she clicked on the link. Surprisingly it was a free event, and it was being held Friday afternoon. Tara hummed softly, racking her brains to think if there was any plans for that day. There wasn’t, so Tara wrote down the location and made a mental note to beg Quinn and Anika to come with her.

“Quinn!” Tara frowned, watching her friend shake her head for the second time. “You said you wanted to see me talk to Amber.”
The group of friends were all at the park, Anika resting her head on Mindy’s chest. Ethan and Chad were deep in conversation, no one ever really knowing what the two boys talked so passionately about. Mindy would always make a joke about her twin being in love with his friend.
Tara had asked both Anika and Quinn to accompany her to the meet and greet, only one had agreed. The red haired girl was shaking her head, as she looked at her phone slightly.
“I have plans, I’d love to come but I can’t.” Quinn shrugged, as her brother sent her a glance. He knew her plans involved a boy, and he didn’t understand why she couldn’t just postpone her plan for Tara.
Mindy just laughed, her girlfriend lifting her head off her chest. “Plans?” Quinn nodded, smiling slightly. “Is it sex positive plans?”
“Mindy!” Anika’s eyes widened, as she looked from her friend to her girlfriend. “You can’t just say that!” Quinn waved the girl off, shrugging again.
“I was actually going to put flowers on my brother’s grave.” Quinn looked down at the grass, a silence falling amongst the group. Tara immediately felt guilty, remembering how the siblings told them of their brother who died in a car crash.
“Quinn, I’m so sorry.” Tara rambled. “You don’t have to come at all, I didn’t know that you were going to do that.” Eventually her words trailed off into a hush, the group back to the silence.
“It’s okay, Tara.” Quinn smiled, looking over at her friend. “You didn’t know.” The reassuring smile from the Bailey girl didn’t do much to ease Tara’s nerves, but at least she knew Quinn wasn’t upset with her.
“I can come with you again.” Mindy suggested, her attempt at breaking the awkward silence that loomed through the friends. “Me, you, Anika.”
Tara nodded, her eyes moving from Quinn to Mindy. “Thanks, Minds.” Anika smiled over to her girlfriend, placing a kiss on her lips. She was surprised the curly haired girl even agreed to going to see Amber again.

Tara was nervous, and she was never normally nervous about many things. She was nervous about flying in planes, and travelling in small boats, but other than that, she didn’t seem to be nervous about anything else.
Until the queue to meet Amber.
Her palms were sweaty, and she tilted her head so she could look at the singer not too far from her. Anika and Mindy stood to the left of Tara, sharing a kiss. They pulled apart, as the Carpenter girl turned to face them.
“Anika, do you have the picture in your bag?” she knew the girl did have the picture in her bag, but she was just eager to hold in more than usual. Her friend nodded, as she handed Tara her bag. “Thank you.”
It was almost time for Tara to step up to meet and greet her favourite singer. A flurry of questions shot through her mind, the recurring one being whether Amber would even recognise her from that night.
“Tara?” the singer looked directly at the fan, as the person in front of Tara had stepped away. “I see you’re back.” The Freeman girl let out a small laugh, as she beckoned Tara to come closer.
The two young adults shared a moment of silence, before the brunette shoved the photo onto the table. “Can you sign this, please?” her voice was quiet, and she wasn’t even sure the girl had heard her.
After a few moments of the singer still not moving, she nodded and pulled the photo closer to her. “Sure Tara.” Scribbling something onto the back of the photo, and she handed it back to the girl.
“Thank you.” The Carpenter girl nodded, receiving a smile from the Freeman girl. Tara spun around on her feet, to see Anika and Mindy smiling at her.
“I want to see what she wrote, read it out loud!” Anika spoke in a hushed tone, careful not to disturb the lady on the phone behind her. “Come on, let’s go to the bus stop!”
The eager girl didn’t wait for either her friend or her girlfriend, before she dragged them both to the bus stop. When they stopped, Anika turned back to Tara. “Let me see!”
Tara flipped the photo to the back, both her eyes and her friend’s eyes scanning over it. I know it was a bit awkward but maybe we can make it up to each other. Anika gasped, but it wasn’t the note that made her do that. Tara froze as she looked underneath the note, and there was denying the singer’s true intentions now.
A phone number was scribbled underneath the note, and as Mindy read over the note too, she let out a gasp of triumph. “I told you! She wanted you this whole time!”
Tara only rolled her eyes, as she shoved the picture back into her bag. She wasn’t sure if she should even text the number, despite how much Mindy and the others tried to persuade her.
