No, nothing good starts in a getaway car

 

Humming to herself Maya sits in her car as she waits for her wife and Bailey. Ever since the trip to the crisis centre Carina and Bailey had been receiving threatening calls much to Maya and Ben’s dismay. To help slightly ease their worries Carina and Bailey had agreed to be driven to and fro from work and today was Maya’s turn and she finds herself sitting at the parking lot of Grey’s. 

Maya smiles as she sees her wife and Bailey walking towards her car animatedly talking. She exits the car walking towards the hood of the car as the duo approach her “Hello Bailey, hey baby, how was your day?” she asks.

“Good but hectic” Carina mumbles, causing Bailey to chuckle but Maya’s attention shifts to a man marching towards them. 

“Guys get in the car now” Maya commands

“Bambina what?” Carina asks, confused at her wife’s sudden outburst, meanwhile Bailey catches sight of the man. 

“Carina, listen to your wife and get in the car” Bailey says hurriedly as she swings open the door to the backseat. 

Carina quickly gets into the passenger's seat and as she does she sees the man storming towards them. “Maya hurry,” she says, panicking, her heart pounding in her chest. 

As Maya starts the engine the man pounds on the drivers side of the car demanding that they stop and get out. When that doesn’t work he gets in front of the car blocking their way.

“Fuck” Maya groans assessing what to do next. 

“What do we do now?” Carina gasps as the man bangs the hood of the car. 

“I’m going to call Teddy and get her to send security immediately,” Bailey says, fumbling for her phone. 

“And I’m going to try to get out of this parking lot,” Maya mumbles to herself. The man continues banging the hood shouting and cursing as Maya tries to figure out a way to get them out of here. 

In the backseat Bailey is on the phone with Teddy as Carina nervously chews on her nails glancing at her wife every so often. 

The man slowly starts walking back still facing them and Maya knows that this is her chance to do something. 

“Hold on something Maya yells” as she hits the gas, the car lurches forward and she swerves right barely missing the man as he runs towards the car. 

“Via! Via! Via” Carina screams holding onto the armrest for dear life.

“Holy shit” Bailey exclaims as the tires screech as Maya peels out of the parking spot.

Eventually, after driving a few blocks she pulls over to the side of the road, her hands shaking with adrenaline. She takes a few deep breaths and tries to calm myself down before turning. “Is everyone okay?” she says softly.

Bailey nods “that was something, I’m going to call Teddy” she says opening the car down and stepping out

“Carina, baby, are you okay?” Maya asks her voice filled with concern about her wife who seems to have frozen.

Gently placing her hand on her wife’s knee trying not to startle her. Carina’s eyes were closed and she was taking deep breaths, something she knows her wife does when she’s anxious or trying to calm herself.

Maya continued to rub her knee in a soothing motion. “You’re safe my love, I’m right here” Maya says her voice calm. A couple minutes pass and Carina slowly opens her eyes.

“That was so scary,” Carina says, her voice shaking. “I’m so glad you were there,” she says, turning towards Maya. 

Maya gives her a soft smile, “I’ll always keep you safe” she says, lifting her wife’s hand to her lips and kissing it gently.

“Dio mio, you were so calm bella” Carina says softly.

“I’m a first responder. We can't afford to panic or lose my focus, it could be disastrous for everyone involved. That's why it's so important for me to stay calm and focused at all times." Maya says gently, giving Carina’s hand a squeeze.

“I know bambina, but I’ve never seen you in action and honestly it’s impressive” Carina replies.

“God I was so scared and anxious back there, I just knew I had to get you out of danger” Maya mumbles.

“Thank you, I love you” Carina says leaning in to kiss her wife. 

“Okay so Teddy says the cops were called and he’s being charged for disorderly conduct.” Bailey says getting back into the car.

“Oh do we have to give a statement?” Maya asks.

“Yes we do” Bailey nods her head sadly. 

“Why?” Carina murmurs. “We don’t have to file a report-”

“No why was he so angry, why?” Carina interrupts. 

“Turns out his ex-girlfriend came to the clinic to get an abortion and he was angry that she killed his baby” Bailey replies. Carina nods but doesn’t say anything as she turns in her seat.

“Do we go back to Grey’s or” Maya asks Bailey knowing her wife needed time to process what she was just told. 

“We should, I called Ben and he said he’d meet us there” Bailey replies. “Also no way Ben would have gotten us out of that situation, you’ve got moves Bishop” Bailey teases.

“Should thank all that Go Kart racing” she replies, fastening her seat belt and starting the car.

While he was runnin' after us, I was screamin’, "Go, go, go!"

But with three of us, honey, it's a sideshow
