Call It What You Want
My baby's fit like a daydream
Walkin' with his head down
I'm the one he's walking to
Maya was on desk duty, which meant she had to spend the day at the station, answering calls and performing administrative tasks. As she sat at the front desk, sifting through paperwork she heard the door to the station open, she looked up to see Pam walking in.
“Hello, what can I do for you?” she asks, clenching her jaw and trying to remain professional.
“Lieutenant Bishop, good to see you again” Pam replies smiling. “I got some cookies as a little thank you,” she says, leaning over her desk slightly and placing a box on the table.
“I’ll pass it on to Dr Deluca” Maya mumbles leaning back in her chair.
“Actually they are for you” Pam says smiling.
“Oh well uh thank you but I was just doing my job” she mutters giving Pam a polite smile.
Pam leans in closer “I’m sure rescuing pregnant woman from vending machines isn’t exactly your job, you run into fires, tell me about it”
Feeling uncomfortable she straightens up in her chair “there’s nothing much to say” she says dismissively.
“Oh come on Lieutenant, don’t be shy” Pam chuckles while walking around the desk. Maya stands up abruptly putting some distance between them.
Carina walks into the station eager to meet her wife, she stops in her tracks when she sees Pam sitting on the desk and Maya uncomfortably fiddling with her hands. Carina stares at Maya, clad in her firefighter uniform, she couldn’t help but admire the way the uniform hugged her body in all the right places.
She’s brought out her thoughts when she sees Pam hop up on the desk, she could tell from the way Pam was looking at Maya that she was interested in her wife.
Just as Maya was going to respond she hears the sound of footsteps and she looks up to see her wife walking toward her, she breathes a sigh of relief.
“Hello Pam, what brings you here? Is the baby okay? Carina asks, trying to stay casual.
“Yes yes he’s fine, my mother is taking care of him and I thought I’d get some air. I wanted to thank the firefighters for their help so I stopped by” Pam replies, glancing at Maya and smiling.
“What brings you by?” Pam asks, eyes still glued on Maya.
“I just dropped by to see my wife,” Carina replies, rolling her eyes.
“Lieutenant Bishop, I was wondering if you’d like to go out for a drink, I owe you one for saving my hand and helping deliver my baby,” Pam asks stepping closer to Maya.
“It’s Deluca- Bishop” Maya blurts out taking a step behind.
“What?” Pam exclaims eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“What she means is that she’s married and I’m her wife” Carina adds a smug smile on her face.
Pam looks between Maya and Carina and stares at them expression changes from one of confidence to one of embarrassment “oh god, I’m so sorry” she mutters.
“You guys are married to each other” Pams stutters. “This is so embarrassing, I’m sorry god I don’t even know what to say this is mortifying”
“I'm really sorry about that. I didn't mean to come on to you like that. It's just that you're really beautiful and I couldn't resist.” Pam rambles.
Carina sees that Pam is truly embarrassed and she feels a little bad for her. "It's okay," she says, trying to put her at ease. "No harm done."
Pam nods gratefully, still looking a little flustered. "I'm really sorry," she repeats. "I’m just going to go”
“You can unclench your jaw babe” Maya mumbles as Pam leaves.
Carina scoffs “hey it wasn’t me that went out on a date with her” Maya teases.
“It was not a date and I made that very clear.” Carina scoffs glaring at Maya.
“If you say so” Maya says chuckling.
“The only date I’ve been on in years is with you bambina anyway, I’ve got plans for our third date if you’re interested” Carina says softly.
“Interested? For you always” Maya replies grinning, leaning in to give her a quick kiss on the cheek.
