Chapter 37

Nat's POV

I felt Wanda jolt up in the middle of the night, her skin bunching around her eyes, clenching her jaw and pinching her lips.

She romoved herself from my hold and hugged her knees tight. I got up beside her looking at her as she took slow deep breaths.

"Malysh? What's wrong?" I said voice hoarse from waking up.

"Why did you stay with me?" She asked furrowing my eyebrows.

"Where did that question come from?" I cocked head my face turned to confusion.

"It's just you're here sitting in front me and just being perfect while I'm here broken and unworthy of your love." She said looking away.

"Wha- Wanda who told you you're not perfect? Wanda look at me, you are everything I want and need. You are much more worthy of my love than anyone in this world." I said shift in front of her and kneeled clutching our hands together.

"You. Are. Perfect. To. Me." I said placing small kiss after each word.

"Just because you love me doesn't mean I feel loved by you." She mumbled letting a stray tear fall down.

"Then what should I do?"

"I- I don't even know." She said her eyes fluttering trying not to let the tears fall.

She bit her lip, looking away from me as she really thought deeply frowning in the process, her eyes squeezed shut, the prominent lines between her eyebrows as her eyes fluttered open.

"How long has this been going on?" I asked, my finger caressing her cheek.

"Ever since the incident." She mumbled.

"It hasn't bothered me but when Piet died it just came back." She said tensing  the muscles on her face, her eyes glossy with tears.

"Oh darling, why didn't you say anything?"

"I didn't want you to worry, I don't want pity."

"That's because I care darling."

"I'm sick the way people look at me like I need to be fixed."

"How about this later when we wake up again, I'm taking you out on a coffee date." I said lifting her chin to face me.

"It's been a while since we had a date." She whispered.

"That's why, now come here." I said pulling her closer to me and laid both of us back down.

"I love you Wanda matter what you say and I stand by what I meant." I said holding her closer.

"I love you too Natalia." She said going back to sleep.

"Even too much sometime." She mumbled.

"I know. I know." I whispered.

-------------

I woke up very early to surprise Wanda with her favorite pancakes with strawberries. Even though there's no occasion I still want to make her feel special, especially what happened last night.

I grabbed the flour, eggs and most of the ingredients including the fresh strawberries. I preheated the pan on low heat, while I mixed the chopped strawberries in the batter.

I poured the batter in small parts, flipping it once the under side was half cooked. I place them on place, each plate has three pieces coated with maple syrup.

I was about to place them down on the table before I saw a figure leaning on the doorframe.

"Is that pancakes I smell?" She chimed.

"You're awake." I smiled.

"You know I can get use to waking up like this but not with an empty bed."

"I know, now let's have breakfast before this cools."

"Did you put starawberries?"

"How could I forget?" I smiled.

"Why do you like strawberries that much?" I asked, I never really mind that she loves strawberries but everytime there's a chance for strawberries she will get them.

"You smell like strawberries and vanilla, Piet used to force me to eat them back in Sokovia and I genuinely like them."

"No wonder why you steal my cologne." I chuckled.

"Shh, eat or it's gonna get cold." She hushed as she ate.

"So bossy." I laughed taking a piece of the pancake.

-------------

As I walked towards the bedroom after cleaning the kitchen, I leaned against the doorframe to see Wanda wearing a familiar jacket.

"Is that my jacket?" I asked entering the room.

"Oh uh yeah, it is I can take it off if you like." She said starting to remove it.

"What? No, don't take it off." I suddenly said stopping her.

"It actually looks good on you rather on me." I smiled.

"But Talia it's yours." She said looking at me.

"Malysh we've been together for four years, don't you think we're past what's mine and what's yours." I chuckled taking out a turquoise hoodie.

"Still..." She paused.

"You can keep it, I mean red suits you better." I looked at her sitting down as I put on my shoes.

"And here I thought red was your color." She chuckled.

"It is but I'd rather look at you than myself." I smirked seeing a small blush creep on her cheek.

"See told you red suits you better." I laughed.

We finished getting ready and making sure that everything was there, we headed out, locked the apartment and went down to where I parked my car.

"Wait don't get in yet." I said stopping her from opening the door.

I jogged up to the door and opened it gesturing her to get in.

"M'lady your chariot awaits." I grinned as she takes my hand and entered the car.

"M'lady? This takes me back to our first date when you said that." She smiled.

"I know, now hold on." I said.

I closed her door and ran around the car to get to my side, I got in and closed the door, buckling my seatbelt and put the key in.

"Are you ready?" I asked looking at her as I start the car.

"Ready as I'll ever be." She smiled.

----------

We arrived at the cafe Pietro used to work at, and to my surprise Clint was manning the register.

The last time Clint and I talked was after the Vis incident, but I thought he moved back to the farm with Laura.

We walked to the counter while Clint wasn't walking and waited for him to turn around.

"Hello welcome to-" He stopped as he looked up.

"Hey Nat, hey Wands, it's been a while how's it going?" He smiled.

"It's been great, but I thought you back at the farm?" I asked.

"I did, but I still need this job so I use the truck to go here." He shrugged.

"How are you holding up?" I asked.

"A few breakdowns here and there, but overall fine I guess." He shrugged once more.

"It's good to see you Clint." Wanda said with a melancholy smile.

"It's good to see you too. So what can I get you both?" He half smiled.

"A Large black coffee for me and a croissant, how about you dorogoy?"

"I'll have a latte and a muffin."

"Got it, it'll be ready in a few minutes." He said walking to the back.

We went to the nearest unoccupied table and took our seats, while we waited I wanted to ask Wanda something.

"Hey Wands?" I started.

"Hm?"

"Are we visiting Piet after this?" I asked.

"Yeah, I kinda want to drop something off." She said taking something out of her pocket and clutching it in her hand.

"What's that?"

"The rings Piet stole for me back then." She said pursing her lips.

"As much as I loved to wear them, it just reminds me of him too much." He sighed.

"It's alright darling." I said placing my hand on top of hers.

"Here you go ladies, enjoy your date if you need anything I'll be at the counter."  Clint chuckled.

"Thanks Clint." We said in unison.

As soon s Clint went back, we both took our drinks and the freshly baked croissant and muffin.

"I was surprised when Jane said Darcy got accepted into Harvard and Tony-" She started.

"This past week I never heard you talk about Vis, it's always Jane and Tony, did something happened?" I asked cutting her off.

She stiffens at the mention of the the guy's name and that didn’t go unnoticed by me.

"Well about that." She mumbled rubbing the back of her neck.

"What happened?" I furrowed my eyebrows.

"After the incident he approached me and well" She conceded her face changed to worried made me more concerned.

"I thought he was gonna say that it's fine and we could still be friends but turns out it was the opposite." She said lowering her down.

"What did he say?" I said slightly annoyed.

"He said that you're the only thing stopping me from finding a real man and that you're uh" She fidgeted her necklace.

"A what? a dyke? Please I've been called a lot more than that, find something original douche bag." I scoffed.

"A lot more? what do you mean a lot more?" She asked looking up at me still clutching the necklace.

"I haven't told you this but before I met you, I went back to Stalingard and well you know the works." I muttered.

"Oh god, did they hurt you?"

"No, they didn't, they just called me names, I ran if things get phiysical, so what did you say to him?" I tried to divert the topic not wanting to talk about what happened back in Stalingard.

"I told him to get his priorities straight and that no wonder why no one dated him." She chuckled finishing the muffin.

"That's good, I thought I was gonna track him down and beat him up." I joked.

"Talia, don't you there." She jokingly threatened.

"What?" I laughed.

"Talia, he's a big guy and he tower's over you for about a feet."

"That doesn't mean I can't beat him." I said condescendingly.

"I wouldn't let you do that." She

"And why is that Miss Maximoff." I smirked.

"I don't condone violence Miss Romanoff." She challenged with a face-wide smile and narrowed eyes.

"Oh really?" I smirked leaning forward my hands crossed supporting myself on the table.

"Yeah." She said leaning in and pecking my lips.

We finished and paid for our drinks and said goodbye to Clint as we headed out to the car.

"You ready?" I asked.

"Yeah but can we stop by for some flowers?" She said her eyes gleamed.

"Sure, I know a local flower shop around here." I said s we drove there.

I waited in the car while Wanda headed inside, minutes later she came out with a small bouquet of dandelions. When she came back inside the car, she connected the Aux cord to phone and played a song.

"What's this called?" I asked.

"It's Dandelions by Ruth B, it's a good song." She smiled.

"Hence you bought the dandelions." I chuckled pointing at the bouquet.

"Yep." She giggled.

"Cause I'm in a field of dandelions
Wishing on every one that you'll be mine, mine
And I see forever in your eyes
I feel okay when I see you smile, smile
Wishing on dandelions all of the time
Praying to God that one day you'll be mine
Wishing on dandelions all of the time, all of the time."

She sang along looking at me with genuineness flashed across her faced, as her mouth curved into a smile.

"Remind me next time to let you make me a playlist." I chuckled.

"I already did." She laughed.

"Piet would always send me playlist of new song he discovered each week, and some are very relaxing to listen to." She added.

"Okay were here, stay there don't get out yet." I said stopping her from opening her door.

I got out, walking to the otherside and opened the door for her, letting myself chuckle.

"Has anyone told you, you would be a wonderful princess?" I smirked.

"And you would make a fine knight." She said imitating a fake british accent.

"But you know what's even better? You being my queen." I added.

"What should you be?" She said continuing the accent.

"Your knight in shining armour." I smiled.

"My saviour." She said wrapping her arms around me, kissing my cheek.

"Okay that accent was horrible." She laughed.

"It was fine but I like your accent better." I grinned.

"My father use to hate our accents and sometimes he would beat Pietro because his was more evident." She sighed.

"But Pietro always stand tall for me, each mistake I make he was always the one who would take the beating for me, I could never repay him for what he did for me."

"You're father's in jail now, no one's gonna hurt you anymore." I said intertwining our hands together.

"Even though he hurt me, he will still remain our father but what he did is unforgivable." She conclude.

"He may be your father but he was never a father." I said.

We walked to the front gates and head our way to Piet's grave, when we arrived there we saw a figure kneeling down as if they were crying.

"I didn't know someone was here." I mumbled.

"Niether do I." She mumbled back.

We got closer to see who it is revealing that it was a woman, she stood up wiping her eyes as she turned to us.

Her features were now more distinct, a brunette with pale brown eyes and a tear stained face with a shocked look running across it.

"Mom?" Wanda said her voice shook.
