Reunion in the Void

“Huh.” Loki placed his hands on his hips as he looked over at Kid Loki and Classic Loki. “So uh… yeah maybe this is not the best plan.” He said, biting his lip slightly.

Alioth, the giant cloud monster in the sky, had just eaten a military ship and ruined Loki’s brilliant plan.

As he thought of another one, a car was heard nearby. “Great. People. Good or bad?”

“Oh, either pirates or cannibals.” Kid Loki responded with a fake, joyful tone. “Or cannibal pirates. All are pretty bad.”

The car itself was slowing down a bit as it got closer to the hill that the Lokis were standing on. Loki’s eyes widened slightly as a familiar figure practically jumped out of the still slow moving vehicle.

“Sylvie.” With no warning to the others, he ran down the hill towards her.

She was here!

… She was here.

Why was she here?

Sylvie’s heart raced as the man ran down the hill towards the car. She ran a bit too, stopping a few feet away as she anticipated his presence. Her eyes scanned him, her mind barely able to comprehend and believe that he was here.

“Loki.” She breathed out as he stopped a few feet away from her.

“Sylvie… You’re here. Are you okay?” Loki spoke rather quickly. It seemed he was also scanning her for either injuries or to just confirm that she was real and not an illusion.

With a small shake of her head, Sylvie took a few small steps towards Loki. She let out a small laugh as she looked up into his eyes, her head tilting slightly. Her hands slowly reached out to grab his, a gentle embrace.

One to confirm to both of them that this was reality. He seemed shocked by the abrupt physical contact, but he didn’t back away. He instead grabbed her hands in return with a gentle squeeze.

“I’m okay.” Sylvie smiled at him with a nod of her head. “We thought you could use some back-up.”
“We?” Loki questioned, with a small tilt of his head.

“Ahem.” The sound of someone clearing their throat dramatically caused the two gods to quickly let go of each other’s hands and step aside. It was then followed up by a deep chuckle as the man slammed the car door shut and moved to stand in front of it.

“Mobius!” Loki exclaimed, smiling widely at the sight of his friend. His enthusiasm was met by a knowing glance from the analyst, first given to Sylvie and then given to him.

Sylvie blinked at Mobius, averting her gaze to the ground. Yeah… she’d be getting an earful from him later. Her eyes quickly darted up, though, as she saw two more figures approaching behind Loki. In one motion, her sword was drawn, and she was moving towards them.

“Hold on!” Loki said, placing his hands gently on Sylvie’s shoulders and pushing her back. His one hand trailed down her arm, towards her hand, and pushed the sword down. It sent a shiver through her spine, but she didn’t back away from the touch.

“These are my friends. Well, more so uh.” He paused for a second to gather his thoughts, and Sylvie tilted her head at him. “Well they’re uh. How do I put this? Us in the future, us as a child, and us as an… alligator.” Sylvie opened her mouth, but Loki quickly shook his head with a “Don’t question it.”

Sylvie blinked at him, before taking a step back and nodding her head. Mobius walked up to stand next to her. He elbowed her side gently with a smile, and she looked over him with a roll of her eyes.

Mobius just grinned and turned back to Loki. “Wow. You throw a rock around out here and you’ll hit a Loki.”

Loki let out a small chuckle at his words. “Yes, well these guys were going to help me kill Alioth but we came across some trouble with our plan and-”

“Wait wait, hold on a second. Kill?” Sylvie cut him off, raising her hand and flashing him a judgemental look.

“Yes. Kill. I was going to kill the monster.” Loki raised a brow, nodding his head.

“Oh my God. That was your plan?” She scoffed at him, turning to the other Lokis with a shake of her head. “And you were all gonna go along with this?”

“Well I had my doubts.” “I wasn’t sure about it.” Kid Loki and Classic Loki rambled over each other, the Kid gesturing with his hands a bit in a wild attempt to defend himself.

Loki cast a quick glance at the two of them before looking back at Sylvie. “Well? What’s your plan then?”

Sylvie smiled at him. “I’m going to enchant it.” Her smile fades into an annoyed look as he bursts out laughing.

“Enchant it? C’mon Sylvie you can’t be serious.” Loki bent over in a laugh, shaking his head. When he saw she wasn’t laughing with him, he stopped, his head still shaking. “That’s insane, right?” He looks at the others with a smirk.

“As insane as what, paper-clipping a giant cloud to death?” Sylvie retorted. This, of course, made Loki fall silent. “I’m going to enchant it.”

A look by Loki was flashed in Mobius’ direction, and the analyst just smiled. “She seems pretty confident.” His voice was a hushed whisper, just loud enough for the others to hear. He then leaned over to Sylvie and whispered, “First lover’s quarrel.” in her ear.

Sylvie instinctively slapped Mobius on the arm, while Loki stared at him in mock betrayal.

Yeah, Loki didn’t see or hear what Mobius had said to Sylvie. Maybe that was for the best.

“Really Mobius? You’re on her side, too?” Mobius responded with a nod. The God of Mischief let out a small, defeated sigh and nodded. “Fine then.”

“Let’s go take some time to regroup and relax.” Classic Loki had decided to jump into the conversation now that some sort of new plan was in order. “There’s a hut over on a hill we can take refuge in for now. Follow us.”

He led the way, with Kid Loki holding Alligator Loki not far behind. Loki and Sylvie instinctively drew close to each other, standing side by side. Mobius cast the two a small, knowing glance as he turned to follow the others. He chuckled softly to himself as he walked.

Those two were idiots. Helpless, lovesick idiots.

Loki and Sylvie exchanged one more glance, a shared look that lasted probably way too long, before they took up the rear. The two were in step with each other, shoulders brushing as they walked.

It seemed neither of them was ready to let the other go too far away from them so soon.
