The search for knowledge
Sylvie finds herself on Earth - Midguard - although she doesn’t know this. She is used to surviving though and she’s survived in far worst locations that this. She sets off in search of knowledge.
As she wonders around the city she learns about the reality she’s found herself in and she discovers the little ways in which her act of killing HWR has had repercussions for the people here.
There’s talk about temporal instability. People being sucked from their reality into this one and the disappearances of loved ones, assumed to have been pulled away to someone else’s world.
There’s a lot of confusion and fear of being taken or swapped. The more she learns the more it starts to feel like one of her apocalypses. She should feel at home she jokes to herself, but it falls flat of course.
Sylvie learns that there is a team of people investigating the fact that timelines are converging and variants appearing. People are being bought in for questioning.
What Sylvie doesn’t realise is that they are looking for her already, having seen the temporal disturbance when she arrived.
Sensing she is being followed Sylvie ducks into a building. She waits, ready to pounce on her assailant.
Wanda enters the building. She is used to being able to easily overcome these inter-dimensional travellers. But something feels different about this one. She can’t see them, but there is a familiar energy about them.
Wanda calls out: “I’m not here to cause you harm. I’m here to help.”
Sylvie, of course, can’t trust anyone. She leaps on Wanda in an attempt to enchant her.
Their powers collide. Both experts at mind control, they stop the other entering their heads. Parting they each watch the other suspiciously.
“Who are you?” asks Wanda, still unable to shake the feeling of familiarity.
“Let me show you,” says Sylvie getting ready to attempt to enchant the witch again.
Wanda laughs and steps backwards. “I don’t think so,” she pauses: “Look. Let me tell you why I’m here and how I can help you.”
Wanda tells Sylvie that she is working for people who are trying to find out more about what’s caused all these different realities to collide, assuming that by understanding it they can fix it. To find out more they are interviewing the people who’ve been displaced by the temporal disturbances.
Sylvie laughs at Wanda’s lack of understanding of the situation. “What if I told you I know exactly what happened?” she says, quickly wondering if she’s already revealed to much.
But this girl seems to be her best chance right now. “Take me to your leader” she jokes.
Wanda takes her to a compound. From the outside Sylvie can sense really powerful magic and initially hesitates, only entering when curiosity gets the better of her.
She follows Wanda inside.
