Steven fidgeted nervously, as she and James Barnes stood in the Goodswood of  Withall as a light dusting of snow tangled itself in Steven’s fair hair. Under the watchful eyes of the weirwood, the two boys stood waiting for the ceremony to begin.

Today was the day that Lord Steven Rogers of Withall would marry Lady Margaret Carter the only daughter of Lord Charles Carter of Summerswood in the south.

“Stop fidgeting!” James whispered as the door to the Godswood opened and out walked Lord Carter who escorted his daughter Margaret in a thin looking blue gown. Steven thought she looked cold.

Maester Almered followed after, escorting Steven’s mother.

Lord Charles pressed Margaret’s hand into Steven’s, her fingers were ice. Holding out a hand to stop Maester Almered, Steven removed his fur lined cloak and draped it around her shoulders.

“There, my lady, you should be warmer now.” He said bowing his head respectively, as he motioned for Maester Almered to begin the ceremony.

After the ceremony, Steven and Margaret adjoined to Steven’s bedroom, the fire was crackling in the hearth. and the bed was laden with warm furs. Margaret glanced around, Steven’s cloak was still wrapped around her.

“It’s as warm as the South in here,” she said quietly stroking the furs gently as if it were a live animal instead of just the pelt.

“I hoped to keep you warm, my lady…” Steven began but she cut him off.

“It’s Peggy, please, only my father calls me Margaret.” Soft brown eyes met blue ones.

“Then you can call me Steve,” at that she smiled, and sat on the edge of the bed, welcoming him to sit beside her.

“Well, it’s very nice to meet you, Steve.”
