Steve could not stop staring at the picture in the frame,
It was an old photo, of the Peggy he had known so long ago, she looked beautiful in a stunning white dress, her veil, a waterfall of white tulle. behind her. She stood hand in hand with a man in a sharp looking suit, who was smiling like he had just won the lottery.
Unfortunately, it was not Steve who was holding Peggy’s hand in the photo, that lucky bastard was Daniel Sousa. Peggy’s former husband, and though he would never admit it, Steve was jealous of a dead man.
Daniel had got to have the life that Steve had missed out on while he was in the ice. Family, stability, Daniel Sousa had been the luckiest man on Earth.
“Steve, Darling? I’m home! I picked up dinner on my way home.” Peggy called as she entered the house.
“I’ll be right there,” Steve called back with a finally glance at the photo, Daniel may have been the luckiest man on Earth then. But Steve was with Peggy now, he had Peggy’s heart, that made him the new luckiest man on Earth as far as he was concerned.
